Welcome to the kb9sff website

Here you will find links to other Ham Radio sites, information about radios and Ham gear that I use and some pictures of my radio projects.

Hope you enjoy and 73's

Hey, this is Andy - KB9SFF. I became a Ham Operator on February 27, 1998. My QTH is Butler, Wisconsin. I usually talk on 70cm/UHF. For the past 2 years I've been living in an apartment, so my Ham activity has been pretty low. I don't have pictures of a shack, but I will as soon as I can get into a house.

I have figured out some interesting ideas for temporarily operating out of this apartment, like my Icom 706 MkIIG mounted in a red husky tool box for QRP/field day portable use. It's great on the front porch of my apartment or next to the campfire at our place in the Dells. I run the Yaesu FT-847 in the bedroom with a magnetic mount stickin' out of the window and a wire antenae nailed to the wall above the headboard of my bed for receive on HF. So like I said, I got some interesting stuff going on in this apartment.

In the mobile I run a Yaesu FT-100 and a FT-90R in a '99 Ford Explorer Sport with an interesting hidden compartment for the FT-100 radio. If anybody is looking for some ideas of mounting/installation in this type of vehicle,  I have some photos posted in the WebAlbum.

My favorite repeater that I talk on is KA9QMD repeater 444.450 pl tone 114.8

I also enjoy listening to HF bands, especially 80 meters (3898)

I hope to be in a house soon, so that I can get on the magic band 6 meters and try out some side band.

This is my Icom 706 MkIIG set up for QRP/field day
