one by one,
that all may learn and all may be comforted"
I Corinthians 14:31

if I thought there were to be no animals there”
George Bernard Shaw ~ 'Androcles and the Lion'
"The greatness of a nation
and its moral progress can be judged
by the way its animals are treated"
Mohandas Gandhi
May every creature abound in
well-being and peace.
May every living being, weak or strong,
the long and the small, the short
and the medium sized,
the mean and the great, ... the seen or unseen,
those dwelling far off, those nearby,
those already born, those waiting to be born,
May all attain peace.
Buddhist Prayer
Nothing is small, if God accepts it.
Saint Teresa of Avila
All things Bright and Beautiful,
All creatures Great and Small,
All things Wise and Wonderful,
The Lord God made them all.
Cecil F. Alexander 1818-1895 Irish Poet
Life is too short to wake up with regrets.
So love the people who treat you right.
Forget about the ones who don't.
Believe everything happens for a reason.
If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.
If it changes your life, let it.
Nobody said life would be easy,
They just promised it would be worth it.

A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS (anonymous source - paraphrased by Kathy)
1. "My life is likely to last 10-15 years. (or More) Any lengthy separation from you is likely to be undesirable.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Allow us to learn to place our trust in each other. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand all of your words, I do understand your voice and thoughts when you are speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. I may need you to pay attention. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak. Notice me.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.
10.On the ultimate difficult journey, I may prefer to release on my own, yet know that, in spirit, I will remain by your side. If I need you to assist in my release, please arrange this loving act; if you can. We never face this alone. All is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so. Allow friendly hands on me as I return to spirit."
Take a moment today to thank God for your pets. Enjoy and take good care of them. Life would be much more dull, and a less joyful experience without our critters.
Pet owners do not have to wait for Heaven, to be surrounded by hope, love, and joyfulness. It is here on earth and may have four legs, no legs, or two legs and feathers. ..........-------..........-------..........-------..........-------..........-------..........----
A Blessing for Animal Friends
Oh Divine Creator, we give thanks
for the beings that share our lives.
We know that humanity is only enriched
by the experiences shared
with members from the animal kingdom.
Unconditional acceptance and love
are given freely, perhaps to show us
that all creatures are a part of Divine Grace.
We accept our role as responsible partners
with the domesticated ones.
They look to us for decisions
that their ancestors decided alone.
By choosing to be a part of our lives,
they become teachers of life;
allowing us to play a divine role in their existence.
We bless these teachers of life,
and give them their recognition,
for they are truly loved, physically and in spirit,
for their connection with our hearts.
When our time comes to return
into the Creator’s realm;
rest assured that all creatures from
our hearts will give us welcome.
