Almost everyone knows whether they are a Pisces or Taurus. What that means is that when you were born the Sun was in the zodiac constellation of Pisces or Taurus etc. covering a time period of about 30 days! Sun sign astrology as we call it has only really been popular since 1930 in the western world. Classical astrology has its roots in the ancient world when astrology and astronomy were the same science. Astronomical data has been found on clay tablets dating from around 3800BC and the first known personal horoscope was drawn up in 410BC. In these ancient times it enjoyed general acceptance, and was practiced by the Chaldeans, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, and Arabs. It flourished in Europe during the 14th and 15th centuries. It's been suggested that the Spanish Inquisition was a cloak to disguise a secret purpose to stamp out Astrology. It was once termed Astromancy -- divination by the stars. The 12 zodiac constellations (sun signs) that we are familiar with in the West, are attributed symbolism from the myths and archetypes of ancient Babylon, Egypt and Assyria, each one represents significant associations & personality characteristics for the astrologer. So, when you add to your personal astrological map, (your horoscope) the Sun (which is in fact the only true star used commonly in modern astrology) our Moon, the five 'classic' planets, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn and the three modern planets, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Then also other minor and hypothetical bodies, the newly discovered 'planet' Chiron etc. each falling in a zodiac sign, you may well realise that your Sun sign is only the tip of the complex astrological iceberg!

My specialist area of interest & study could be defined as Psycho-Spiritual, also sometimes referred to as Astrotherapy. This is the application of astrology to assist the personal & spiritual development of person.
Some of the other distinct branches of Astrology:
Natal, or Genethliacal: having to do with the birth figure and the subsequent transits of the bodies and their Progressions. This forms a basis for the many applications of person centred astrology.
Horary: fundamentally a Figure cast for the birth-moment of an idea, a question, or an event. Practitioners of this branch of Astrology usually take the moment when the question is propounded.
Electional: an application of Horary art whereby to choose the most propitious moment for initiating a new enterprise, event, or commencing a journey, etc.
Relocation: a method that recalculates the birth chart for a different geographical location to assess the impact on an individual.
Financial: astrological cycles & patterns have been studied in relation to the fluctuations in the stock market and the resulting statistical analysis provides a basis for stock market trading & other speculation.
Mundane, also termed judicial Astrology: a consideration of the current positions of the planets with respect to their influence upon entire populations, or portions thereof, by countries, cities or localities, at Ingresses, eclipses, ordinary Lunations and Full Moons, and major transits or conjunctions.
Medical: the application of the science to questions of health, and as a diagnostic aid when confronted with baffling symptoms of disease and obscure ailments.
Meteorological, also known as Astro-Meteorology: the application of the science to the forecasting of weather conditions, earthquakes and severe storms.
Agricultural: an application of Astrology to the planting and the harvesting of crops. Also often referred to as Biodynamic planting.

Astrological Counselling
Astrology is a most effective tool for personal counselling & spiritual guidance.
The horoscope or chart is like a blueprint for life.
Your astrological chart describes the personal myths that are being acted out in daily life, the environment into which you were are born, your relationship with your parents & the early experiences that set patterns for later life. Where we find the security we need, where we feel challenged, the areas of life where we will put our creative energy, how we deal with the world of work or service & what contribution we make are all part of our unique & individual life pattern illustrated by the astrological map.
It can be viewed as a map of your personal landscape, your personality, motivation, potential & challenges. It tells a story of what you have been & what your inner wisdom intended for you to become. What you do with all that information is of course your own choice.
In the counselling role I can help you understand your personal choices and as an Astrologer I can give you access to a perspective that I call "the bigger picture". Putting yourself and life situation into the context of a larger pattern can help you to see the purpose & meaning in what otherwise could be experienced as needless suffering or repeatedly being a victim to other people & events.
When we feel we need help with how to cope with life or find some greater meaning the astrological perspective can give us some much needed positive guidance. As a diagnostic tool the study of the natal chart can facilitate a deeper understanding of our relationships, to others, our environment & even to life itself. It can highlight the specific difficulties we experience & can point to resolution of inner & outer conflict. Within the birth chart are the indications towards your life path & purpose. Exploring it can assist in the soul's journey towards becoming integrated.

Astro Oracle Readings
Using the astrological map as a background for the ancient art of casting stones as a form of divination, I have evolved an oracle that can be interpreted to give insights into any personal matter.

About Me
I was born in London in the UK. Since then my life has been directed by an ever-present form of guidance. Receiving spiritual guidance has been such a normal part of my life as far back as I can remember that I didn’t question it or even realise what it was for years!
Ideas, knowledge and hunches just arrived in my mind. It must have been difficult for the people around me at times because if I felt I “knew” something there was no changing my mind. It was also very easy for me to understand what people were feeling & why, and consequently I played the role of counsellor from the start.
This didn’t make for an easy life but it’s been an interesting, full and varied one, so far.
From the age of five I lived a fairly isolated life with my family in rural North Devon. By the time I went into secondary education I’d devoured everything in the way of metaphysics, theology & inspired thinking that our small town library could offer. Carl Jung had a profound influence on my understanding and so I conducted my own dream experiments. I received my first Tarot pack at 13, and started doing readings for friends.
Despite the difficulties in my family life, my inner world was vivid and rich and my outer world beyond the home was a constant source of wonder and solace as I roamed freely, absorbed in the rhythms and diversity of nature.
By the age of sixteen my questing led me to study Astrology. I discovered there was a map to help on this journey! After leaving Art College I moved back to London and studied it at evening class. By this time I was attending sessions held by the NFSH for their probationer healers. There were meditation workshops with yoga masters, weekend courses in homeopathy, co-counselling, channelling groups and any other study of the “healing arts” I had time for. All this amongst working in a variety of ordinary jobs, attempting serious relationships and all the other things someone in their early twenties in London might get up to!
After meeting a very gifted and inspired teacher (Sudhir Borowitz) I gained my ITEC Diploma in Therapeutic Massage. (1988). But Sudhir had taught much more than bodywork. She encouraged us to read energy patterns and sense past-life trauma along with techniques of Shiatsu, Acupressure, Rolfing, Re-birthing, Cranial work and a profound healing technique that comes from deep stillness.
I worked for a while as a massage therapist in a health spa and then set up at home, practising massage for women, pregnant women & babies. This led me to work & study with the Active Childbirth Movement. I gave birth to Gabriel in 1991, and was then prompted to move out of London back to North Devon. My marriage and childrearing took the lead and took me to the depths of despair; I was only just saved from the brink by some profound spiritual experiences. During these years I continued to study & teach astrology and do occasional readings as well as holding a regular psychic development group and keeping up some massage & healing work. By this time I couldn’t fault my inner guidance, although I did try! I took a short trip to India, had some more profound spiritual experiences, came home and was informed (very directly by my guidance) that I was to move to Ireland! I gave up the counselling course I’d started & moved to West Cork.
I continue the life long study of Astrology and I’m currently working towards the highly regarded Diploma with the Faculty of Astrological Studies. My personal experience and that ever present source of inner promptings has led me to work directly with addressing the problem of fear & negativity which is the cause of so much suffering. Since 1998 I have gradually developed my Astrological Counselling, Healing & Teaching practice, giving personal readings, holding workshops, forums & classes, here in West Cork.
I'm truly grateful to the many inspiring teachers, friends & foes, who have helped me on my way.
Learning to trust my inner guidance & intuition has been a lifelong challenge & spiritual practice & is now fundamental to my way of being, life & healing work.
