Update 25/7/08: Luke Crowther became manager Ian Jennings' seventh new signing of the season last night. Crowther returns to the club after a spell last season with Selby Town and relegated Thorpe United but is not expected to feature during the early part of the season as he builds up his fitness from an operation. Ironically the operation was required due to a leg injury sustained against Kartiers FC whilst playing for Selby Town in last season's Barkston Ash FA Cup tie which The Beavers won 4-0.

Update 23/7/08: Kartiers FC can announce a clutch of new signings to compliment the return of James Tweedie and the unveiling of Josh Dinsley during the friendly against Gypsy Moth. Keeper Alan Hullah put pen to paper last night as did youngster Neil Earl whilst former Hemingbrough players David and Harry Jackson have also joined the club.

Update 21/7/08: Kartiers FC took to the field on Saturday (19/7) for the first of their pre-season friendlies with Sunday League side Gypsy Moth providing the opposition. Veteran John Glavin made a surprise return to Kartiers colours at the heart of the defence with manager Ian Jennings explaining 'Gareth Roberts, Richard Taylor and Dave Hawe were all unavailable today so instead of playing someone out of position I asked John if he would help me out'. Simon Brown joined Glavin in a makeshift back three with skipper for the day Gary Lumley, whilst there was a debut for winger Josh Dinsley. A quick fire double from Andrew Woodall gave The Beavers an early lead but the Moth pulled a goal back before Jon James scored a stunning third for Kartiers just before the interval. James Tweedie then added a brace, which included a thirty yard screamer, and Jon Page made it 6-1 before the hour mark but the Moth capatalised on some hesitant defending to snatch three goals, all from set pieces, to make the final score 6-4. Manager Ian Jennings was pleased with the work out but slightly embarrased by the scoreline, 'to concede four goals is a bit disappointing especially when they were all from set pieces because we looked so comfortable in open play. However, our attacking play was stunning at times and its always nice to score a few goals'.

Team: Leonard, Lumley, Brown, Glavin, Barrett, Stephenson, Woodall, Ward, James, Tweedie, Littlewood, subs: Page, Dinsley, Jennings (A), Tessyman.

The game at Hambleton scheduled for Wednesday 23 July has been cancelled due to the oppositions inability to raise a team. Training will still take place this week on Tuesday (22/7).

Update 25/6/08: The Barkston Ash FA recognised Kartiers FC's charity work at the associations AGM held at Garforth WMC yesterday evening (24/6). FA Secretary Eric Beedham informed fellow clubs that Kartiers wore a pink kit last season and remarked that it was 'a brave thing to do!' He mentioned the 'tremendous amount of money' that the club had raised for charity and lead the warm applause that the club received from member clubs in attendance.

Update 17/6/08: The club are pleased to announce that Ultralift Mechanical Handling have agreed to be the club's main sponsor. Former player Steve Watts met with club chairman Ian Jennings last week and a deal was agreed which will see the Ultralift logo once again emblazoned on the home kit. 'We are most grateful to Steve and Ultralift for their generous sponsorship.' He added 'Ultralift have sponsored the club for many years now and quite simply we wouldn't be where we are today without their support.' Details of the new home kit will be announced shortly.

Update 11/6/08: Kartiers FC will be hosting a football match in memory of KFC legend Dave 'Willy' Williams. The game will feature players who played alongside Willy over the years and will take place on Saturday 2 August, 2pm ko, on the James Street Recreation Ground. Anyone wishing to take part in the game is urged to email secretary@kartiersfc.co.uk or contact Ian Jennings asap. A collection will take place on the day with all proceeds going to The Meningitis Trust. Further details to follow. Kartiers FC would also like to hear from local clubs who may be interested in competing for an annual trophy in memory of Willy. A tournament could be held pre-season and any interested parties should contact secretary@kartiersfc.co.uk, with the first tournament expected to take place before the start of the 2009-10 season.

Update 11/6/08: Richard Singh has been appointed 2nd X1 Manager following Carl Marran's resignation. Richard first joined Kartiers FC in 1993 and was part of the side which progressed through the leagues and established the club in the York & District Premier League. Richard cut his managerial teeth during a brief three season spell at Hemingbrough before returning to Kartiers last season. Club Chairman Ian Jennings was delighted with Richard's appointment and said 'one of last seasons reserve players commented that it was good that we appointed someone who knew how the club works and Richard certainly knows that. He is very much a Kartiers person and hopefully we can get the club back on track after what I saw as a step in the wrong direction last season'. He added, 'sometimes its not all about the result, planning for the future and developing the younger players is very important and that is one of the things Richard will be aiming to do'. Kartiers FC can also announce the first signing of the season. Top goal scorer from seasons 2005/6 and 2006/7, James 'Tiny' Tweedie, has returned to the club after ending last season with relegated Thorpe United. Manager Ian Jennings was keen to re-sign Tweedie after his side struggled in front of goal last season. 'I signed a couple of players that I thought would make the difference last season but due to injury and one or two other reasons it didnt happen. Those players have now dropped down a league and it became a priority that we signed a striker who could almost guarantee the side 20 goals a season, Tiny is such a player'. Jennings would not comment on any further signings stating 'that is not the Kartiers way, when they sign the form announcements will be made'. Pre-season training is due to start on Wednesday 2 July, 7pm, at James Street Recreation Ground.

Update 22/5/08: The funeral of Kartiers FC legend David 'Willy' Williams will take place on Friday 30 May at 1.30pm at Bishopthorpe crematorium. Family flowers only please with a plate provided on the day for donations to The Meningitis Trust. It has also been requested that due to David's love of football and rugby league, football or rugby shirts are worn as opposed to the traditional suit and black tie. After the service the family would like everyone to join them at The Winning Post on Bishopthorpe Road for refreshments. For further information please do not hesitate to contact Ian Jennings.

Update 19/5/08: Kartiers FC have received the sad news that former player and legend David 'Willy' Williams passed away on Saturday evening. Funeral arrangements to follow. Our thoughts are very much with David's family at this very sad time. RIP Willy.

Update 14/5/08: Following reports online and in the press, Kartiers FC can confirm that Ronaldinho, Ribery, Kaka and Benzema have all agreed in principle to play football next season. Ist X1 manager Ian Jennings was quoted as being 'delighted' with the news. He added, 'unfortunately those players will not be at Kartiers FC but I would like to thank all the players who represented the club during what was a very difficult 2007-08 season. Difficult for many reasons but ultimately we will return stronger for the experience. Now I hope all the players, staff and supporters enjoy a much deserved break and I look forward to welcoming back the players for pre-season training, suitably refreshed, and keen to challenge once again for the York & District Premier League title'.

Update 6/5/08: Michael Braithwaite walked away with the major honour of the night, 1st X1 Players Player of the Year, at the Charity Event held on Friday (2/5) at Selby WMC. Gary Lumley earned the 1st X1 Player of the Year award with David Hawe awarded the 2nd X1 honour. Martin Rowley was voted 2nd X1 Players Player whilst Louis Blackwell picked up the top goal scorer award. Jane Chester was announced as 'Clubman' of the Year and deservedly so for all her work towards making the charity fund raising year such a success. A final charity total will be announced in due course.

Update 1/5/08: The season ended for Kartiers FC in conditions that in many ways can describe the whole season, a bit of a washout. With standing water everwhere due to heavy showers throughout the day, both sides and the match referee agreed to play the game so the season could be brought to a close. Kartiers and Wigginton then proceeded to produce one of the most entertaining games of the season with the visitors coming out on top, 1-3. Adam Tessyman missed a penalty and Andrew Woodall took the honours for miss of the season, from fully one yard out, with only Carl Blundell managing to hit the target for The Beavers.

Update 30/4/08: Kartiers FC missed out on cup glory as the 2nd X1 lost 1-2 to 10 man Haxby in the York League Reserve Cup. Reserve B Champions Haxby took the lead midway through the first half but then had a man sent off for violent conduct, a disgraceful headbutt on 17 year old Anthony Jennings. Webb struck the bar with a header as Kartiers fought back and they equalized with probably the only moment of quality during a poor game, Louis Blackwell curled in a beauty from an impossible angle to bring the scores level just before the hour mark. Haxby rallied and regained the lead and despite a Duce effort which also struck the woodwork, The Beavers could not find the equalizer. The second string end the league campaign with a game tonight (30/4) at home to Wigginton Grasshoppers where a much changed line-up is expected from the one that played in the final, 6.30pm ko.

Update 28/4/08: The 2nd X1 reached the Reserve League Cup Final after a 1-0 win over Riccall. Matt Cooper scored the only goal of the game to send The Beavers into the final where they will face newly crowned Reserve B Champions Haxby. The game takes place tomorrow evening (29/4), 6.15pm ko at Dunnington. Meanwhile the 1st X1 recorded a quick fire league double over York St Johns College, beating the students for the second time in four days. Richardson, Braithwaite and Littlewood were on target in the 3-1 win. Skipper Andrew Richardson announced his retirement before the game and was given a guard of honour as he took to the field for the very last time. Manager Ian Jennings paid tribute to Richardson, 'he has been an absolute pleasure to manage and easily one of the best defenders in the York & District Premier League for many years. It will be a difficult task to replace him and we wish him and his family all the very best for the future'. Wednesday see's the final league game of the season, a Reserve A league game at home to Wigginton Grasshoppers, 6.30pm ko.

Further Update 24/4/08: The 2nd X1's last league fixture of the season, at home to Wigginton Grasshoppers, will be played on Wednesday 30 April, 6.30pm ko.

Update 24/4/08: Kartiers FC enjoyed a victory in their final home league game of the Premier League season, a 2-1 win over York St Johns College last night (23/4). A stunning Michael Braithwaite strike and a Glen Littlewood header sealed a morale boosting win for The Beavers who make the reverse journey for the final game of the season this Saturday (26/4).

Update 22/4/08: After a 2-3 defeat at Dringhouses at the weekend, the 2nd X1 hit back with a 2-1 win at Heworth last night (21/4). Carl Blundell scored both goals but suffered an injury which required hospital treatment, typical of The Beavers wretched luck with injuries this season. The Reserves now concentrate on the League Cup semi-final at home to Riccall this Saturday (26/4), 2pm ko before a yet to be arranged final home league game with Wigginton Grasshoppers. The 1st X1 host York St Johns College this Wednesday (23/4) before making the reverse trip on Saturday to complete a frustrating and ultimately disappointing league campaign. Frustration was the keyword at Malton & Norton at the weekend with Jon James returning to the treatment table he had barely left and two Louis Blackwell penalties not being enough as a late penalty for Malton secured a 2-3 win for the Premier League strugglers.

Update 17/4/08: At last a clean sheet! Buoyed by the return of Richardson and Lumley a still understrength 1st X1 played out a 0-0 draw with local rivals Tate & Lyle. In a game of few chances Leonard made a good save from a Gladwell free-kick and the lively fit again Jon James almost stole the points at the death. The point consolidates The Beavers sixth place in the division whilst Tate still have major relegation worries. This Saturday the 1st X1 travel to another relegation threatened side, Malton & Norton, without Roughley, Woodall, Littlewood, Taylor, Olsson, Hewitt, Page, Roberts and Jackson. Whatever is left for the 2nd X1 will travel to Dringhouses, both games 2pm ko.

Update 15/4/08: Its been a hectic but fruitful three days for the 2nd X1 with two games and two wins. On Saturday (12/4) two Louis Blackwell goals sealed a 2-0 win over visitors Old Malton and last night (14/4) a John Maher strike and a Richard Singh penalty secured another three points in a 2-1 win over Nestle Rowntree. Attention now turns to a trip to Dringhouses this Saturday (19/4) before an evening game at Heworth (21/4). The 1st X1 meanwhile lurch from one crisis to another with preparations for the midweek game (16/4) at home to Tate & Lyle hampered by the unavailability of Hewitt, Stephenson, Woodall, Roughley, Jackson, Page and Rowley with Liam Olsson also a doubt due to a knee injury. Jon James may make his first appearance since suffering an hamstring injury in early February.

Update 07/4/08: The 1st X1 season cant end soon enough given the form that the side are currently in. Not helped by the absence of no fewer than seven of the first team squad The Beavers suffered their worst defeat of the season and the worst in manager Ian Jennings managerial career. The 3-9 defeat at league leaders Haxby has seen the side concede 19 goals in three games and so the prospect of no game this weekend should come as light relief for the beleagured first string. Woodall, a bizarre own goal and Page found the net for Kartiers who actually took the lead through Woodall's fine header but if seven missing players wasnt enough, skipper Liam Olsson limped through an hour of the game before being withdrawn due to a knee injury, Gareth Roberts couldnt start due to a side strain, Matt Cooper came off at half time with a shoulder injury and winger Jon Page also suffered a knock early in the game. Thankfully the 1st X1 now have a break until they face Tate & Lyle on Wednesday 16/4. The knock on effect with the 2nd X1 was obvious, so a narrow 0-1 defeat at Huntington should be classed as something of a moral victory given the number of absent players. This week the second string host Old Malton, 2pm ko.

Update 03/04/08: Kartiers FC reveal plans to hold an end of season charity night to cap off the good work they have done and finalize the money raised for MacMillans Cancer Support and Breast Cancer Care. The event will be held at Selby Working Mens Club on Friday 2nd May 2008 from 7:30pm - 11:30pm. Please invite your family and friends and lets make this a success. All who are wanting to show their support for this can ask Richard Singh about ticket availability or email him at singhy@kartiersfc.co.uk

Update 31/03/08: The 1st XI must yet again get their campaign back on track after losing to title challengers Huntington Rovers. Kartiers enjoyed the early stages of the game and even took advatage of the sexy football they were playing, with a nice goal from Littlewood. It was downhill from there though and Rovers ended the game with four strikes to the good, condemning Kartiers to yet another consecutive double league defeat. Meanwhile the 2nd XI took on Thorpe United in the quarter-finals of the Reserve Cup, winning 2-1 with first half goals from Cooper and Rowley. Next week the 1st XI visit table topping Haxby United, and the Reserves travel to Huntington, both ko 2pm.

Update 25/03/08: The 1st X1 suffered their heaviest defeat of the season, a 2-6 thumping by current league leaders Haxby, with defensive frailities the major cause of a bad defeat. Youngsters Louis Blackwell and Matt Ward were on target for The Beavers. The 2nd X1 gave a spirited display at reigning Reserve A Champions Dunnington and came back with a point thanks to a Martyn Rhodes equaliser. This week (29/3) the 1st X1 have an early ko at Huntington, 1pm, whilst the 2nd X1 travel to Thorpe for a Reserve League Cup quarter Final tie, 2pm ko.

Update 16/03/08: Kartiers FC 2nd X1 missed out on a place in the Barkston Ash FA Activ8 Cup final losing 2-3 in extra time to West Yorkshire League side Bardsey. The second string hit back from two goals down thanks to goals from Rowley and Blackwell but succumed to a late winner in the second period of extra-time. The 1st X1 meanwhile romped to a 3-0 victory at Hamilton Panthers with Alan Jackson netting all three goals, his first goals for the senior side. This week (22/3) the 1st X1 host current league leaders Haxby whilst the 2nd X1 travel to Dunnington, both games 2pm ko.

Update 13/03/08: While the first team concentrate on the league this weekend, the 2nd XI play host to Bardsey in the semi final of the Barkston Ash Activ8 Cup. The biggest and most important game of the season thus far for the Reserves coincides with key players ineligible for this competition and others struggling for fitness. Martyn Rhodes looks set to play his first competative game of the season for Kartiers since signing back in August last year.

Update 09/03/08: The 1st X1 avenged the recent 0-3 defeat at Dunnington with a comfortable 2-1 victory in the return fixture at James Street. James Barrett's second goal in as many games coupled with a Michael Braithwaite penalty secured all three points despite a late reply by the visitors. This week they travel to Hamilton Panthers who inflicted the first league defeat of the season on Kartiers in November, 2pm ko. Kartiers Reserves slumped to a 1-2 defeat at Thorpe United, a late winner denying them a share of the points after Gareth Rhodes had netted his first goal of an injury hit season. This Saturday they host Bardsey in the Barkston Ash FA Activ8 Cup semi-final, 2pm ko.

Update 02/03/08: A select 2nd team breezed to a 4-1 victory against struggling Heworth in difficult conditions, they leapfrog up the table after this win and the withdrawal of Rufforth Uniteds results from Reserve A. Kartiers gave a second half debut to Stuart Winter who joined the club midweek after the transfer of Neil and Paul Taylor moving on to pastures new. A brace apiece from Blackwell and Cooper moves the second string into seventh spot. This weekend sees the return fixture of the 3-3 home game against Thorpe United from a fortnight ago, whereas the 1st team hope to avenge last months away defeat to Dunnington, both ko 2pm.

Update 27/02/08: A convincing 3-1 win for 1st XI against Copmanthorpe at the weekend sees them climb up into fifth place and back to winning ways. Buoyed with the inclusion of Richard Singh, Kartiers claimed three points with an impressive Andy Woodall strike after James Barrett and Matt Cooper had earlier converted. This week its the 1st XI's turn to take a breather and a fresh 2nd XI host Reserve A strugglers Heworth, 2pm ko.

Update 19/2/08: Kartiers FC 1st X1 lost 3-0 away to Dunnington, whilst the 2nd X1, were held 3-3 by local rivals Thorpe United. Goals from Maher, Ward and Littlewood gave them a share of the points in a game they dominated. This week (23/2) the 1st X1 host a Compmanthorpe side whom they beat 3-0 earlier in the season while the 2nd X1 have no fixture at this present time.

Update 10/2/08: Kartiers FC hit form with a vengence and thumped visitors Wigginton Grasshoppers 4-0. Matt Cooper (2), Jon James and Louis Blackwell were on target for The Beavers. This week (16/2) they travel to Dunnington with Jon James the only doubt having limped off just after half time. The 2nd X1 were on the receiving end of a 0-2 defeat to league leaders York St Johns College. A gutsy effort from the second string who this week host Thorpe United, 2pm ko.

Update 4/2/08: An understrength and youthful 1st X1 made the long trip to a cold and icy Old Malton and came back empty handed due to a 0-2 defeat. Louis Blackwell, the club's leading goalscorer, made the 1st X1 starting line up for the first time in his short Kartiers career and young prospect Anthony Jennings also featured. This week (9/2) they host Wigginton Grasshoppers, 2pm ko. The 2nd X1 came from behind to beat Copmanthorpe 3-2. Alan Jackson's first goal for the club was added to by Neil Taylor and then another of the crop of Kartiers youngsters, Adam Tessyman, came off the bench to net the winner, his fifth goal of the season. On Saturday the second string travel to Reserve A league leaders York St Johns College, 2pm ko.

Update 28/1/08: A weekend to forget for Kartiers FC as both sides drew a total blank. The 1st X1 lost the local derby at home to Thorpe, a goal midway through the first half enough to seal the points for the Premier League strugglers, whilst the 2nd X1, fielding arguably the strongest reserve side for many a year lost by the same scoreline at Wigginton Grasshoppers. Matt Stephenson, Danny Hewitt, Gareth Roberts and Alan Jackson, and recent signing Matthew Duce all came through the reserve game relatively unscathed which was the one bright bit of news on a day of total disappointment. The 1st X1 travel to Old Malton next weekend (2/2) whilst the 2nd X1 host Copmanthorpe, both games 2pm ko.

Update 24/1/08: Not wishing to tempt fate, as its only 8pm Thursday, but Kartiers FC could at last be in the position they expected to be in at the start of the season with regard to the strength of both squads. Only Glen Littlewood (work) misses the local derby v Thorpe United, 2pm ko, with the versatile Martin Rowley earning a call up from the reserves. Matt Stephenson attempts his second comeback of the season as the second string travel to Wigginton Grasshoppers, 2pm ko. Matt was injured last March and suffered a setback in November, shortly after fighting his way back into the 1st team. Danny Hewitt also attempts to prove his fitness after suffering from an ankle injury whilst Alan Jackson looks set to start his first game of a very frustrating first ever season in the KFC colours. Gareth Roberts is another player hoping to build up his fitness after a recent bout of illness.

Update 18/1/08: Both games tomorrow have fallen victim to the weather. Heavy rain throughout the week coupled with the poor pitch conditions after last weeks draw with Old Malton has resulted in the local derby v Tate & Lyle FC to be postponed. Its hoped a weeks rest for the pitch will ensure next week's local derby v Thorpe United will go ahead (2pm ko). Standing water in both goalmouths at Heworth resulted in the Reserve A league fixture to be called off. With progress in two cup competitions, resulting in games in hand on most teams in the division, the call off was unwelcome news as a fixture backlog may now develop resulting in the dreaded scenario of 'night games' at the end of the season. Next week the 2nd string, hopefully, travel to Wigginton Grasshoppers, 2pm ko.

Update 13/1/08: A controversial game on the Bowling Green ended with honours even as visitors Old Malton equalised two minutes from time to snatch a point in a 2-2 draw. Skipper Liam Olsson saw red along with a Malton forward during the first half after an unseemly melee and the visitors took the lead shortly afterwards. Jon Page equalised, his first for the club, and a late Andrew Woodall penalty appeared to have clinched all three points but a free-kick at the death denied The Beavers a chance to gain ground on the top sides in the division. Alan Jackson finally made his Kartiers debut as a late substitute and there could be more good news from the treatment room with Danny Hewitt and Matt Stephenson expected to be available for selection for this weekends home game v Tate & Lyle, 2pm ko. The 2nd X1 came back from Old Malton with all three points, a first league win since October, with Adam Tessyman, Martin Rowley, Richard Singh, Louis Blackwell and Neil Taylor all on target in the 5-0 win. This week they travel to Heworth and should be in confident mood as they defeated Heworth's 1st team in the York FA Junior Cup earlier in the season.

Update 11/1/08: All eyes are on the weather as the 2nd X1 travel to Old Malton for a Reserve A league fixture, the first since 1 December! Brian Bere has an ankle injury and has been replaced in the squad by Adam Tessyman who may start as Matt Cooper has earned a call up to the 1st X1 after his impressive hat-trick in the cup win over Rufforth. Martin Rowley appears to have recovered from a head injury which forced him to leave the field of play early in the first half last week and Matt Ward has been released from the 1st X1 to gain much needed game time. The Bowling Green is currently described as 'very wet' but should be ok as the 1st X1 host Old Malton, 2pm ko. Manager Ian Jennings is reluctant to name a squad due to the number of late call off's in recent weeks but Alan Clayton (work), Jason Roughley (away) and Danny Hewitt (injury) definately miss the game whilst the squad is boosted by leading scorer Andrew Woodall's recovery from a thigh injury. Alan Jackson is once again hoping to make his Kartiers debut whilst a late decision will be made on Gareth Roberts who is yet to fully recover from a recent bout of illness.

Update 6/1/08: The 1st X1 game at Old Malton was called off due to a 'water logged' pitch. The pitch was described as 'perfect' the evening before but was called off by a 'referee' early on Saturday morning. With Jon James crying off due to illness perhaps it was a blessing in disguise for an understrength Kartiers who will be hoping that a full squad make themselves available for the home game v Old Malton this Saturday (12/1), 2pm ko. The 2nd X1 marched into the last eight of the Reserve Cup after an 8-0 victory over Rufforth. The victory makes a mockery of an earlier league defeat by Rufforth with Louis Blackwell (2), Brian Bere (2), Matt Cooper (3) and Anthony Jennings ensuring an emphatic win this time around. A trip to Old Malton, weather permitting, is next on the agenda for the second string as they bid to take their impressive cup form into the league.

Update 4/1/08: Danny Hewitt (injury), Andrew Woodall (injury), Jason Roughley (work) and Gareth Roberts (illness) miss the 1st X1's trip to Old Malton tomorrow (5/1). Richard Taylor is expected to replace Roberts whilst Liam Olsson and Gary Lumley appear to have recovered from the illness that forced them both to be substituted during last Saturdays league game with Malton & Norton. Alan Clayton and Matt Ward have given the squad a much needed boost by declaring themselves available whilst Alan Jackson once again attempts to make his Kartiers debut having missed the entire season so far due to injury. Anthony Jennings (illness) is a doubt for the 2nd X1 as they host Rufforth in the Reserve League Cup, 1.30pm ko. Leading scorer Louis Blackwell returns to the squad having missed the narrow cup defeat at York RI although both managers will be nervously looking at their mobile phones given the number of late call offs in recent weeks.

Update 29/12/07: Kartiers came back to snatch a point in a 1-1 draw at home to Malton & Norton thanks to an Andrew Woodall header twelve minutes from time. All manager Ian Jennings' plans were thrown into disarray with the late withdrawals of Clayton, Braithwaite, Hewitt and Jackson whilst Olsson, Roberts and Lumley only lasted half a game due to illness. The club will be looking for more commitment and a clean bill of health as they travel to Old Malton this weekend (5/1), 2pm ko, although Woodall is already a major doubt due to a thigh injury. The 2nd X1 host Rufforth in the Reserve League cup, 1.30pm ko.

Update 27/12/07: 1st X1 manager Ian Jennings has selected a 16 man squad for the visit of Malton & Norton at the weekend, 2pm ko (29/12). Gareth Roberts played the full 120 minutes of the 2nd X1's cup defeat at York RI to prove his fitness whilst Alan Jackson has declared himself fit for the first time this season. Alan Clayton has recovered from the illness which forced him to miss the victory over Huntington which means only Matt Stephenson currently occupies the treatment room whilst Matt Ward misses the game due to family commitments.

Update 23/12/07: Kartiers FC kept in touch with the front runners in the Premier League title race with a hard earned 2-1 win over reigning champions Huntington Rovers. Andrew Richardson and Michael Braithwaite were the goalscorers in a win that puts The Beavers six points behind leaders Haxby with three games in hand. The 2nd X1 lost 0-1 after extra-time at Division Two front runners York RI in the York FA Junior Cup but can take great heart from a display which saw them outplay senior opponents for long spells and, if a couple of decisions had gone their way, could easily have been celebrating a famous victory. The second string now have a mini Xmas break whilst the 1st X1 host Malton & Norton in the league this Saturday (29/12), 2pm ko.

Update 16/12/07: The frost failed to put the freeze on Kartiers FC at the weekend with both sides earning morale boosting victories. The 1st X1 ended a three game winless run with a 3-2 home victory over Nestle Rowntree. Andrew Richardson, Liam Olsson and Andrew Woodall were on target for The Beavers. The 2nd X1 reached the semi-final of the Barkston Ash FA Activ8 Cup with a comfortable 6-1 victory over visitors Garforth WMC. Louis Blackwell claimed a hat-trick, Adam Tessyman a brace whilst keeper Darren Kelly netted his second penalty of the season. This Saturday (22/12) the 1st X1 host reigning Premier League Champions Huntington, 2pm ko, whilst the second string travel to Division Two league leaders York RI for a York FA Junior Cup tie, 1.30pm ko.

Update 10/12/07: The weather intervened at the weekend and saw both games involving Kartiers FC called off. Heavy downpours throughout the morning proved too much for the grounds at Wigginton and Malton with Wigginton at least having the common sense to call off the Reserve game before the team had set off. Malton on the otherhand waited until 13:19 to call the game off, just as the Kartiers 1st X1 were pulling into the ground. This week (15/12) both teams are at home with the 1st X1 hosting Nestle Rowntree, 2pm ko. Manager Ian Jennings awaits fitness news on Woodall, James, Roberts and Stephenson before announcing his squad whilst also sweating on the availability of striker Jason Roughley. Martin Rowley misses the 2nd X1's Barkston Ash FA Activ8 Cup Quarter Final tie at home to Garforth WMC, 1pm ko.

Update 4/12/07: Buoyed by a useful point in a 0-0 draw at home to title challengers York St Johns College, Kartiers Reserve's travel to Wigginton Grasshoppers this Saturday (8/12) in confident mood. Richard Singh, Andy Webb and Mark Lucas all come into contention for a starting place as does Adam Tessyman. Darren Kelly may continue in goal for the injured Luke Allderidge who was a late call off for the game against the students. Skipper Dave Hawe misses the game with the impressive Martin Rowley expected to take his place at the heart of the defence. The 1st X1 meanwhile travel to Malton & Norton with more problems mounting for manager Ian Jennings. Jason Roughley misses the game and with strike partner Andrew Woodall struggling with injury and summer signing Alan Jackson no nearer to full fitness Jennings has major problems in attack. Michael Braithwaite and Daniel Hewitt could come into contention after missing the defeat at Tockwith but Gareth Roberts, Jon James and Matt Stephenson all definitely miss the game due to a injury.

Update 29/11/07: With the 1st X1 facing a week off, 2nd X1 Carl Marran may utilise the full squad as they face York St Johns College Reserves this Saturday (1/12) 2pm ko. Richard Singh is one notable absentee whilst 1st X1 manager Ian Jennings intends to run the rule over keeper Luke Allderidge and defensive midfield player Martin Rowley who have both impressed in recent weeks.

Update 25/11/07: Kartiers FC suffered their third defeat in a row and slipped off the pace for the Premier League title after a 2-3 defeat at Tockwith, Jon James and Liam Olsson were on target for The Beavers. The 2nd X1 hit form during the second half of the York FA Junior Cup tie against Stamford Bridge Reserves and ran out 5-0 winners. Goals from Martin Rowley, Richard Singh, Louis Blackwell, Anthony Jennings and Neil Taylor sent the second string into the last eight of the competition. This weekend (1/12) see the 1st X1 with a week off whilst the 2nd X1 host York St Johns College, 2pm ko.

Update (22&23)/11/07: Both sides will be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend (24/11) with the 2nd X1 on a three game winless run whilst the 1st X1 have lost their last two games. The 1st X1 travel to Tockwith for a league fixture with a much depleted squad. Michael Braithwaite, Andrew Woodall, Danny Hewitt and Jason Roughley are all unavailable whilst new signing Alan Clayton also misses the game due to work commitments. Richard Taylor, James Barrett and Matt Stephenson are all pushing for starts whilst Matt Cooper and Matt Ward have been called up from the Reserves. The 2nd X1 also have absentees with Andy Webb, Sean Lucas, Adam Tessyman and Andy Edwards all missing for the York FA Junior Cup tie at home to Stamford Bridge Reserves, 1.30pm ko. Martin Rowley returns to the squad after missing last week's league defeat at home to Dunnington and is joined by veteran's Mark Lucas and Rob Bolger, who will both be wearing the Kartiers colours for the first time this season.

Update 19/11/07: Barkston Ash FA Cup dreams are over for yet another year as Kartiers FC suffered their worst defeat in the competition for many years, a 1-4 defeat at Wetherby Athletic. The defeat was made worse with Andrew Woodall suffering a groin injury which he sustained when he scored the Kartiers equalizer midway through the first half. Woodall looks set to miss the trip to Tockwith in the league this Saturday (24/11) which could mean a recall for Matt Cooper who made a surprise substitutes appearance for the 2nd X1 after initially ruling himself out of action with a knee injury. Cooper's inclusion failed to prevent a 1-3 defeat at home to Dunnington with Adam Tessyman netting the Kartiers consolation. Ex Brentford player Brian Bere made his debut and former Kartiers player Alan Clayton made his first appearance of the season after signing in midweek. This week the 2nd X1 are in York FA Junior Cup action with a home tie against Stamford Bridge Reserves, 1.30pm ko.

Update 15/11/07: Ex professional Brian Bere has signed for Kartiers FC. Brian played for Brentford and Exeter until an injury sustained in a challenge with current Bournemouth manager Kevin Bond curtailed his career. Brian also played in the Ryman League before spells as a coach in Spain and with Charlton Athletic. After looking at a couple of other clubs in the area Brian met with the Kartiers management team on Wednesday evening and had no hesitation in signing for The Beavers. Brian goes straight into a depleted 2nd X1 squad for this Saturday's league game at home to Dunnington, 2pm ko. Matt Cooper misses the game through injury whilst Martin Rowley is unavailable. Matt Ward is released from the 1st X1 squad to boost the second string with James Barrett heading in the other direction as the 1st X1 travel to Wetherby Athletic for a Barkston Ash FA Cup Quarter Final tie. Jason Roughley misses the game due to work commitments whilst Andrew Richardson makes a welcome return after missing the defeat against Hamilton Panthers.

Update 11/11/07: Kartiers FC drew a rare blank over the weekend with neither side managing to find the back of the net and both suffered league defeats in the process. The 1st X1 lost for the first time in eighteen league games which was a first home league defeat since October last year with visitors Hamilton Panthers taking the points in a 0-2 victory. Andrew Richardson was a late call off due to the birth of his first child which meant a recall for Richard Taylor. Matt Stephenson came off the bench to feature for the first time since March. The 2nd X1 lost 0-1 at Copmanthorpe and will be looking to bounce back when they host reigning Reserve A Champions Dunnington this Saturday (17/11), 2pm ko. The 1st X1 are in Barkston Ash FA Cup quarter final action with a trip to Wetherby Athletic, 1.30pm ko.

Leading scorer Louis Blackwell made a scoring debut in midweek for York FA's U.17's against Whitby Town U.19's at Pickering Town.

Update 8/11/07: Matt Stephenson is set to make his first appearance of the season for the senior side in this Saturday's (10/11) league game at home to Hamilton Panthers, 2pm ko. Matt has not featured for the 1st X1 since March due to injury and is joined in the squad by Jon Page who missed the recent league victory at Nestle Rowntree due to illness. Long serving defender Richard Taylor joins the 2nd X1 squad as they travel to Copmanthorpe. Richard was injured during the last of the three recent 1st X1 games against Tate & Lyle. Andy Webb misses the game as he is getting married at the weekend whilst Gareth Rhodes remains on the sidelines due to injury.

Update 5/11/07: With the 1st X1 having no game the spotlight fell on Carl Marran's second string as they hosted Dringhouses in Reserve Section A. A penalty conceded by new keeper Luke Allderidge gave the visitors a first half lead but a late Matt Ward equalizer snatched a point for Kartiers. This Saturday (10/11) both teams are in league action with the 2nd X1 travelling to Copmanthorpe whilst the 1st X1 host Hamilton Panthers, both games 2pm ko.

Meanwhile the fundraising campaign for cancer charities gained momentum with a calendar photo shoot taking place on Sunday morning (4/11). Two hours of fun and mayhem, superbly marshalled by Jaki Jennings, should see a fantastic calendar available for sale before Christmas. Details will be posted online with regard to sales with all proceeds to be donated to our nominated charities. Kartiers FC would like to thank photographer Colin Wallwork for giving up his time to support the cause, Nico's Hairdressers (for the loan of the pink GHD hair straighteners!!), Jane and Pete from Cochranes Wharf, John Loughton of the Albion Vaults and all the lovely girls and club members who gave up their Sunday morning to take part in this wonderful event.

Update 29/10/07: Current leading goalscorer Louis Blackwell has been selected to represent the York FA at under 17 level. The game will be played at the home of Whitby Town on Thursday 8 November, more details to follow. Kartiers FC congratulate Louis on his well deserved call up.

Update 28/10/07: Kartiers 2nd X1 pulled off a shock in the York FA Junior Cup beating current Division Three leaders Heworth 2-0. Matt Cooper continued his fine form with the opener and top scorer Louis Blackwell came off the bench to seal the victory. Next weekend they host Dringhouses (3/11) in the league, 2pm ko, with manager Carl Marran having the luxury of the entire club to select from as the 1st X1 have no game. The first string go into the enforced break, due to intended league opposition Dunninton's involvement in the East Riding Cup, a point behind league leaders Huntington thanks to a 3-2 victory at Nestle Rowntree. Kartiers came from behind to clinch all three points thanks to goals from Glen Littlewood and Jason Roughley (2).

Update 25/10/07: Matt Ward has been recalled to the 1st X1 squad for this weekends (27/10) trip to Nestle Rowntree. Matt impressed for the 2nd X1 in last Saturday's league victory ironically at Nestle Rowntrees! Ward replaces Matt Cooper who will be hoping to prove his fitness with the Reserves after missing last weeks Barkston Ash FA Cup win at Selby Town due to injury. 1st X1 manager Ian Jennings reports no fresh injury worries and is close to having his full squad available for selection for the first time this season. Matt Stephenson is reported to be close to a first team recall after recovering from injury and he will be keen to prove the point against current Division Three league leaders Heworth in this week's FA Junior Cup tie. Simon Brown and Adam Tessyman are both hoping to step up from the subs bench to face Heworth with midfield goalscoring machine Andy Webb also pushing for a recall.

Update 22/10/07: Goals from Jon James, making his first appearance for the 1st X1 this season, Andrew Woodall (pen), Gareth Roberts (his first for the club), and Michael Braithwaite (pen) ensured that Kartiers FC progressed into the third round of the Barkston Ash FA Cup at the expense of Selby Town Reserves. With only Alan Jackson currently sidelined with injury Manager Ian Jennings will have almost a full squad to pick from for this Saturday's (27/10) trip to Nestle Rowntree. The 2nd X1 made the trip to Rowntrees at the weekend and came back with all three points and a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory. Substitute Andy Webb netted the first and then keeper Darren Kelly was allowed to take the penalty which secured the win. This week they host current Division Three leaders Heworth in the York FA Junior Cup, 2pm ko.

Kartiers FC and Cochranes Wharf continue to work to raise money for Breast Cancer Care and MacMillans by holding a Pool Marathon. Sunday 21st October there will be a Pool Marathon held at Cochranes Wharf from 12:00 - 20:00 hrs. There will be plenty of fun and games - please ask everyone you know to attend if possible and make this event a success. Hopefully see you there!! Many thanks from KFC & Jane Chester at Cochranes Wharf

Update 15/10/07: Kartiers FC came through a tough test at Dringhouses and clinched all three points with a 3-2 win thanks to first half strikes by Liam Olsson, Danny Hewitt and Matt Cooper. Gareth Roberts started only his second game for the club and came through unscathed despite his recent broken toe and ankle injuries whilst Richard Taylor enjoyed a twenty minute work out in his bid to recover from a rib injury which forced him to miss the previous weeks win at Copmanthorpe. Liam Olsson is an injury doubt for this weeks (20/10) Barkston Ash Cup tie at Selby Town, 2pm ko, due to a groin injury but both Jon James and Matt Stephenson made a step towards full fitness in the 2nd X1's league win at home to Huntington. Louis Blackwell netted his seventh goal of the season in the 2-0 victory with an own goal completing the scoring after tremendous work from Jon James. This Saturday the second string travel to Nestle Rowntree's for a league fixture, 2pm ko.

Update 8/10/07: The 1st X1 returned to winning ways after the disappointment of the recent weeks cup exits and heaped more misery on bottom of the table Copmanthorpe in the process. Second half goals from Matt Cooper, Liam Olsson and an Andrew Woodall penalty sealed a fine 3-0 victory although the game was overshadowed by an awful challenge by the home keeper on James Barrett which may see the young versatility player out for some time. The 2nd X1 crashed back down to earth after two good cup wins losing 2-3 at home to Rufforth in the opening league game of the season. Louis Blackwell continued his rich vein of goalscoring form with both the Kartiers goals but a below par performance saw all three points go to the visitors. This Saturday (13/10) the 1st X1 travel to Dringhouses whilst the 2nd X1 host Huntington, 2pm ko.

Update 4/10/07: Manager Ian Jennings continues to be frustrated by the unavailability of key players for this Saturday's (6/10) 1st X1 league game at Copmanthorpe. Richard Taylor is a doubt due to a rib injury whilst Gareth Roberts, Jason Roughley and Glen Littlewood all miss the game for various reasons. James Tweedie has gone AWOL so Matt Cooper, Paul Taylor and Anthony Jennings have all earned call up's whilst Danny Hewitt returns after missing the last two games due to holiday commitments. Jon James and Matt Stephenson continue their rehabilitation with the 2nd X1 in a home game v Rufforth, 2pm ko.

Update 1/10/07: Tate & Lyle FC continued their recent good form against Kartiers FC with a 1-2 victory in the York FA Senior Cup. Kartiers FC, 2006 Cup winners, fell two behind but came back thanks to a Jason Roughley effort. The 2nd X1 progressed in the Junior version of the competition after a 3-0 victory over Bishop Wilton. Andy Webb, Louis Blackwell and Sean Lucas were on target in a game that saw the very welcome return from injury of Matt Stephenson (out since March) and Jon James. Both players will be looking to step up their bid for a 1st X1 recall when the 2nd X1 start the league campaign with a home game against Rufforth this Saturday (6/10), 2pm ko. Gareth Roberts will miss the 1st X1's trip to Copmanthorpe with a broken toe whilst Kartiers first signing of the summer, Alan Jackson, is no nearer to making his Kartiers debut due to an injury to his foot sustained whilst on holiday. Danny Hewitt is expected to return after missing the last two games.

MacMillans Cancer Support Charity Event - Kartiers FC and Cochranes Wharf are working together over the forseeable future to raise money for worthy causes. On Friday 28th September there will be a coffee morning held at Cochranes Wharf from 12:00 - 14:00 hrs. MacMillans Coffee Mornings are the biggest in the world - please ask everyone you know to attend if possible and make this event a success.

Update 23/9/07: Kartiers FC bowed meekly out of the Senior League Cup at the quarter-final stage despite taking the lead at Tate & Lyle. Michael Braithwaites stunning strike just before the hour mark should have sealed what was, for the second week running, a dour game. Tate hit back with two goals in the last eighteen minutes, the first goals conceded by Kartiers in over 430 minutes of football. Kartiers inability to break down a stubborn Tate side must be causing concern as they prepare to face them for the third time in three weeks in this weekends (29/9) York FA Senior Cup tie, James Street, 2pm ko. The 2nd X1 meanwhile kick started their season in fine style with a 11-1 (12-1 according to the referee!) drubbing of Malton & Norton. Matt Cooper and Louis Blackwell claimed hat-tricks whilst a double from Simon Brown and goals from Neil Taylor, Andy Webb and Joe Krygsman completed the rout. This week they host Bishop Wilton in the FA Junior Cup, 2pm ko at a venue to be arranged.

Update 17/9/07: The much hyped local derby between Tate & Lyle and Kartiers FC failed to live up to its billing and ended 0-0. Kartiers were the more relieved of the two sides as Tate & Lyle had the more clear cut chances but in truth neither keeper was tested throughout the game and surely this Saturday's (22/9) league cup tie between the sides at Selby College (2pm ko) can only be better. Andrew Woodall, Glen Littlewood, Jon James, James Tweedie and Matt Cooper should all be available after missing the league game for various reasons although some may be selected for the 2nd X1 as they start their 2007-08 season at home to Malton & Norton in the Reserve League Cup (2pm ko).

Update 12/9/07: The 2nd X1 lost 0-2 to Hemingbrough's 1st X1 last night (11/9) in what was probably the last pre-season friendly for the reserves. Gareth Roberts who has not featured for the 1st X1 due to cricket commitments played the full ninety minutes whilst Jon James upped his bid for full fitness with a 50 minute work out. The pleasing thing for the Kartiers management was the ability to pick a squad of fourteen for last nights game without having to use any of the players who represented the 1st X1 at the weekend. A penalty in the first half and a goal late in the second period secured the win for the visitors whilst Kartiers continued their policy of fielding youngsters with four 16yr olds on the field at the final whistle. The 2nd X1 now have to wait until 22/9 for a cup fixture at home to Malton & Norton due to the cancellation of this Saturday's (15/9) league game v Rufforth.

Squad: Kelly, Hawe, Roberts, Webb, Jennings (A), James, Singh, Olsson (B), Taylor (N), Cooper, Blackwell, Subs: Lucas (S), Edwards, Krygsman.

Update 10/9/07: Kartiers FC came back from Wigginton with maximum points from a game in which Wigginton dominated possession. A very good Wigginton side found the Kartiers defence and keeper Ian leonard in uncompromising mood and clinical finishes from Woodall (2) and Roughley sealed the win for the visitors. Next Saturday (15/9), the 1st X1 travel the short distance to Selby College to face Tate & Lyle in a league encounter (2pm ko) before facing the same opposition again during the next two Saturdays in League Cup (22/9) and FA Cup (29/9) ties. Before that, the 2nd X1 face Hemingbrough at home in a friendly on Tuesday (11/9) 6.15pm ko.

Update 6/9/07: The 2nd X1 were victorious over Selby RSSC's second string with Louis Blackwell stealing the show with two classy second half strikes. Matt Cooper and Neil Taylor put Kartiers two up at the interval and Blackwell came off the bench to ensure victory. Jon James took his first steps towards full fitness with a twenty minute run out and Ben Olsson also featured after missing the 1st X1's win over Tockwith. Andy Edwards and Stuart Boswell made their Kartiers debuts whilst Richard Singh wore the Kartiers shirt for the first time in over three seasons after his much publicised transfer from Hemingbrough.

Squad: Blundell, Singh, Taylor (P), Hawe, Brown, James, Olsson (B), Lucas (S), Rhodes (M), Cooper, Taylor (N), Subs: Edwards, Boswell, Krygsman, Webb, Blackwell.

The 1st X1 travel to Wigginton this Saturday (2pm ko) bouyed by the return of skipper Liam Olsson along with Jason Roughley and Andrew Woodall. Jon James is expected to have another run out with the 2nd X1 before he returns to the first team squad.

Update 3/9/07: Gary Lumley's first ever goal for the club sealed all three points against Tockwith. Lumley's header, from a Michael Braithwaite corner, maintains Kartiers FC's unbeaten start to the season and moves them to fourth in the table at this early stage. Next up is a trip to Wigginton Grasshoppers (8/9) and its hoped that Andrew Woodall, Jason Roughley, Liam Olsson and Ben Olsson will be available after all missed the win over Tockwith. Matt Stephenson is expected to be fit by the end of the month, Matt hasnt played since sustaining the injury in the York FA Senior Cup Semi Final defeat at Dunnington last season (10/3/07). Jon James is another long term absentee who hopes to feature before the end of the month whilst Alan Jackson is also slowly inching his way towards full fitness.

Update 31/8/07: The 2nd X1's pre-season preparations continued last night (30/8) with a solid 5-0 victory over Sunday League side Gypsy Moth. 16yr old Joe Krygsman, one of five 16yr olds representing Kartiers during the game, made his debut along with Andy Webb and Martyn Rhodes. Darren Kelly made a welcome return to the club with an assured display in goal which is remarkable given the fact that the last time he played he was the 2nd X1's top scorer! The game was locked at 0-0 at the interval but a second half Louis Blackwell hat-trick and one apiece from Simon Brown and Adam Tessyman ensured a comfortable victory.

Squad: Kelly, Roberts, Webb, Taylor (P), Jennings (A), Lucas (S), Rhodes (G), Rhodes (M), Brown, Blackwell, Taylor (N), Subs: Tessyman, Krygsman.

Update 26/8/07: A truly awful local derby saw Kartiers victorious over Thorpe thanks to a late Andrew Woodall strike. Danny Hewitt missed the game through a work related injury causing more problems for the Kartiers camp but the visitors came through and could even afford the luxury of a penalty miss from Jason Roughley midway through the first half. The new pink away kit shone bright in the afternoon sun and Kartiers FC would like to thank Jane Chester of Cochranes Wharf for her generous support. On Thursday the 2nd X1 face Gypsy Moth in a friendly on the James Street Recreation Ground, 6.15pm ko, whilst the 1st X1 continue their league campaign on Saturday with a home game v Tockwith, 2pm ko.

Update 24/8/07: Andrew Woodall has declared himself fit and takes his place in the squad for the short trip to Thorpe United, 2pm ko. Liam Olsson joins the list of absentees due to personal reasons whilst Jon Page returns to the squad after missing the penalty shoot out win over Malton & Norton due to a groin injury. Tom Osborne replaces Ian Leonard in goal with James Barrett or Ben Olsson likely to replace Liam Olsson at the heart of the Kartiers midfield. Michael Braithwaite could also come into contention for a midfield berth after impressing as a second half substitute v Malton. The Thorpe game see's the launch of the new 'PINK' away kit with the local press covering the event.

Update 21/8/07: Two days after a tough opening league fixture v Dringhouses, Kartiers FC faced Malton & Norton in a Senior League Cup tie and came through by the skin of their teeth after a penalty shoot out. A poor game burst into life during the final fifteen minutes when Malton took the lead only to see Glen Littlewood equalize with only four minutes remaining. With the light fading the game went straight to penalties and Ian Leonard was the hero of the day with a stunning save to send his side through 5-4 with Roughley, Braithwaite, Olsson (B), Richardson and Barrett all netting for Kartiers. Jon Page missed the game due to a groin injury but hopes to be fit for Saturday's (25/8) league game at Thorpe, 2pm ko, which will see the launch of the new pink away strip!

19/8/07: Kartiers gained a point against Dringhouses in a 1-1 draw thanks to a Jason Roughley strike midway through the second half but were disappointed not to claim all three points after Littlewood and Roughley both had chances to win the game. Matt Ward, Gary Lumley, Jason Roughley and Jon Page all made league debuts for Kartiers whilst the list of absentees read, Woodall, Olsson (B), Cooper, Tweedie, Jackson, Stephenson, James, Leonard, Roberts!! Kartiers now face Malton & Norton in the League Cup on Monday (20/8), 6.30pm ko before a league game at Thorpe United (25/8), 2pm ko.

14/8/07: A busy couple of days for Kartiers FC, Sunday (12/8) the 2nd X1 had their first run out of the pre-season and the following day (13/8) the 1st X1 completed their pre-season programme at highly fancied Division One side Wilberfoss.
A very young 2nd string faced Sunday side Hounds FC and were good value for the 1-1 with Louis Blackwell netting a fine equalizer after Kartiers fell behind in the first minute. Both sides hit the woodwork in an entertaining game which saw Kartiers field four 16yr old and three 18 yrs olds. Liam Olsson again played 45 minutes in his battle to be fit for the seasons opener whilst there were KFC debuts for Gareth Roberts and Rob Dickson.

Squad v Hounds: Leonard, Lumley, Taylor (P), Roberts, Ward, Brown, Braithwaite, Olsson (L), Matthews, Blackwell, Tessyman. Subs, Lucas (S), Jennings (A), Dickson.

Monday saw the 1st X1 gain a morale boosting 5-3 win at Wilberfoss. The hosts narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season but were rocked by two goals during the first 12 minutes through Roughley and Richardson. Wilberfoss hit back and drew level thanks to two set pieces but Kartiers went back in front thanks to a Roughley penalty after Woodall was felled inside the Wilberfoss box. Yet another set piece drew the hosts level again before Braithwaite and then Hewitt clinched the win for Kartiers.

Squad v Wilbefoss: Harper, Roberts, Lumley, Richardson, Ward, Hewitt (D), Olsson (L), Braithwaite, Littlewood, Woodall, Roughley, Subs, Jennings (A), Tessyman, Brown, Barrett.

Manager Ian Jennings is hoping Ben Olsson will be fit for Saturdays league opener at home to Dringhouses (2pm ko) after missing the last two games due to a groin injury. New signing Alan Jackson, who has not featured during the pre-season due to injury looks likely to miss out whilst there could be Kartiers league debuts for Lumley, Ward, Page and Roughley. Matt Stephenson, Dale Huntington and Jon James definitely miss the game due to injury.

8/8/07: A comfortable 4-0 victory over Stamford Bridge saw Kartiers FC continue their pre-season campaign. Matt Cooper had an early effort disallowed before Glen Littlewood scored the first of his brace. An Andrew Richardson penalty made it 2-0 before Littlewood claimed his second, after good work by Braithwaite, to make it 3-0 at the interval. Stamford Bridge fielded two different sides during the game but failed to make any inroads into the Kartiers defence and in the second half Danny Hewitt made it four after the impressive Matt Ward had set up the chance. Dale Huntington made a welcome return to action after almost two years out of the game whilst Liam Olsson stepped up his bid for a 1st X1 place with a good 45 minute workout.

Squad: Leonard, Lumley, Taylor (R), Richardson, Olsson (L), Barrett, Braithwaite, Ward, Brown, Cooper, Littlewood. Subs: Olsson (B), Hewitt (D), Tessyman, Huntington.

Next up is a trip to Wilberfoss on Monday 13/8.

4/8/07: Kartiers pre season continued with a hastily arranged fixture at West Yorkshire League Premier Division outfit Whitkirk Wanderers. Liam Olsson made his first appearance of the season as he fights his way back to fitness from a work related injury whilst Daniel Hewitt, Andrew Woodall, Jason Roughley, Alan Jackson, Matt Stephenson, Gary Lumley and Andrew Richardson were all unavailable much to the frustration of 1st X1 manager Ian Jennings. Matt Cooper and Louis Blackwell scored the goals in the 3-2 defeat with Matt Ward making a promising Kartiers debut. Jon James joined the queue to the treatment room with a pulled hamstring whilst Ben Olsson and Michael Braithwaite stole the show with some scintillating football in the Kartiers midfield. Kartiers FC travel to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday (7/8) 6.30pm ko.

30/7/07: Kartiers FC limped out of the Temple Newsam Cup exercise after a 1-0 loss to much fancied Aberford Albion. Again absentees disrupted plans, but the game was undone by a defensive mistake which ended up costing Kartiers dearly. Kartiers squandered numerous chances but it just wasn't to be, a tough early fixture that has served as a reminder that there is still a lot to do in preparation for the start of the season. An unofficial match report is on the forum via our website www.kartiersfc.co.uk Training continues at the Bowling Green, Wednesday 6:45pm.

Squad Vs Aberford Albion : Osborne, Lumley, P.Taylor, Richardson, James, Page, Hewitt, Barrett, B.Olsson, Woodall, Cooper, Littlewood, Braithwaite.

23/7/07: A select Kartiers FC side came through their second friendly in style as they comfortably controlled a game and progressed their pre-season preparations against a staunch Station FC. Absentees were aplenty yet again but that wasn't going to be a problem as other players were given much sought after game time throughout. The inclusions of Richardson and R.Taylor to the squad and top class debutants Roughley and Page ensued a 3-0 win with Tweedie claiming a brace, and Roughleys' 30 yard wonder strike being a much talked highlight. Many thanks and
respect to Station FC for their help in giving Kartiers such a tough friendly fixture in preparation for next Mondays Temple Newsam cup tie away against Aberford Albion ko 6:30pm. Unofficial match report is on the forum via our website www.kartiersfc.co.uk Have your say about the game and post what you think.

Team Vs Station : Leonard, P.Taylor, R.Taylor, Richardson, James, Page, Watson (c), Barrett, B.Olsson, Cooper, Roughley. Subs : Hawe, Tweedie, Braithwaite, D.Hewitt, Tessyman.

16/7/07: Kartiers FC travelled the short distance to Hambleton for the first of their pre-season friendlies. Manager Ian Jennings was hampered by the unavailability of ten of his 1st X1 squad but was able to run the rule over several of last seasons 2nd X1 squad and new signings Gary Lumley and Dale Ranby. Kartiers took the lead after only three minutes with Littlewood setting up Woodall for the seasons opener. Jon James, Michael Braithwaite and Ben Olsson looked very bright early on and created several good chances which Kartiers failed to capitalise on. Hambleton were very comfortable in possession and deservedly equalized before the interval with the Kartiers defence guilty of ball watching as a Hambleton forward picked his spot and firmly planted a header past the helpless Leonard. Substitutions were the order of the day as both sides shuffled their respective packs in the muggy conditions with Kartiers giving run-outs to youngsters Tessyman and Anthony Jennings. Hambleton deservedly took the lead midway through the second half but the re-introduction of Woodall and Littlewood in attack reaped immediate rewards as Woodall struck a fine second to make the scores level. Kartiers clinched victory at the death when Matt Cooper headed home a fine cross from Jon James and after the game Manager Ian Jennings was full of praise for both sides. 'I'd like to thank Hambleton for agreeing to play the game so early in the pre-season, despite the number of players missing it was a very useful exercise and a good game played in the right spirit'. He added, 'It wasn't ideal that most of the 1st X1 squad made themselves unavailable but it gave a few others the chance to impress and Gary Lumley and Paul Taylor certainly did, Andrew Woodall looked sharp and Dale Ranby delivered some quality balls from the left so all in all I think we can be pleased with the evenings work'. Next on the agenda is a trip to Hambleton again to face Station FC next Monday (23/7) with training continuing on the James Street Recreation Ground (The Bowling Green) every Wednesday at 6.45pm.

Team v Hambleton: Ian Leonard, Gary Lumley, Paul Taylor, David Hawe, Jon James, Dale Ranby, Daniel Hewitt, Ben Ollson, Michael Braithwaite, Andrew Woodall, Glen Littlewood. Subs: Matt Cooper, Adam Tessyman, Anthony Jennings.

Training : Kartiers FC start pre-season training for the 2007-08 season on Wednesday 4 July at 6.45pm on the James Street Recreation Ground (the Bowling Green). Club Chairman Ian Jennings anticipates big things for the club for the forthcoming campaign but warns of 'severe hard work' and expects 'total commitment' from the all the players at the club. Jennings, when interviewed exclusively for www.kartiersfc.co.uk remarked 'in 2006 the 1st X1 finished fifth in the top league in York & District Football and won the York FA Senior Cup, last season we set ourselves a target to finish higher in the league and win another cup. Unfortunately we fell at the semi-final stage of the three cup competitions we entered but finished third in the league and were disappointed that we didn't finish higher so it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out what we aim to do in the 2007-08 season.'

Ian Jennings added that the hard work of recent years is now starting to pay dividends and cites the off the field appointment of Carl Marran as 2nd X1 manager as a major step in the right direction. 'Carl is a quality coach with boundless enthusiasm and during the second half of last season the Reserves went from relegation favourites to being as good as any side in the league so obviously we hope to build on the progress we have made.'

With regard to the 1st X1 Jennings remarked that 'anyone who has ever played for this club knows that the key to success is hard work, all the top sides work harder off the ball than on it and that's something we try to drill into the players, those that are not prepared to work hard and fight for their place move on, simple as that.' Jennings hinted at 'one or two' new signings but offered an open invitation to any local footballers who wished to train with the club.
