Karo's Fishing and Hiking

Fishing and Hiking in and around Tennessee

My History.

Let me tell you a little about myself. I was born in Middle Tennessee and have lived here all my life. I started flyfishing about 10 years ago. I joined the Middle Tennessee Flyfishers and am now a lifetime member of  this organization. I cannot praise this club enough, for they taught me everything I know about  the sport. I have always been interested in backpacking since I recieved my first backpack when I turned 15. I barely used it, but I always wanted to go on an overnight trip. Well a few years ago a longtime friend and I went on our first overnight trip to Savage Gulf. Later that year I went hiking to Virgin Falls at night with some teens from church and I broke my ankle. It took me a long time to recover from this injury because I have broken the same ankle 3 times! In 2002 I finally got to complete this trip with the staff from our church. It was my toughest hike so far. In 2003 I have hiked to Rainbow Falls in the snow, overnight hiked to Frozen Head Mtn., and I am now trying to complete the 25 miles of trail along Natchez Trace.

Update

Since my last update I have been doing a lot of hiking and even some fishing. Last fall I went to the Titanium Chef cook-off. I grilled some trout and got 3rd place and a pack for my efforts. There were lots of great dishes there. I also hiked to Mount Rogers and we got very cold, but made it ok. This year (2004), I have been on several dayhikes and just went back to Frozen Head for another cold trip.  (See my Pics!) I have now gotten my packwieght down considerably. It is now 20-25 # with my Granite Gear Vapor Trail pack and my hammock and tarp for 3 season camping. I have learned quite a bit in the last few years and will share my knowledge on the trail, Happy Trails, Karo
