About Karla

Karla grew up in both Florissant and Saint Louis, MO.  She attended high school at McCluer and North County Techincal in Florissant.  She later attended college at East Central College in Union, Meramec Community College in Kirkwood and Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff.  Her main studies were History, Writing, English, Psychology, Philosophy and Math.

She spent  most of her senior year of High School in Pennsylvania, briefly returning to Missouri, and later moved to Hawaii for one year. She then returned once again to Pennsylvania for a short period, and then moved to Denver, Aurora, and Evergreen, Colorado. She later returned to Missouri, but later relocated to Wisconsin in 1997 until 1999, returning to Missouri once again where she currently resides.

Writing short stories has been a favorite hobby of Karla's for many years.  She enjoys reading non-fiction and books concerning America's history.  Some favorites include; Civil War Books, Philosophy by Socrates, The History of Love by Nicole Krauss, Fields of Glory by Jim Miles, The Prophecy by Tammy M. Moses, The Reincarnation of Peter Proud by Jeff Keene and Biographies of famous Americans.

Most of Karla’s family is scattered across the United States. Some of Karla’s ancestors on her father’s side migrated from England in 1754 on the ship Mary Sarah Antine. Two of her grandfathers fought in the Revolutionary War before moving their growing families into Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois.

On her mother’s side, most of the family migrated from Scotland and Ireland during the late 1600's. Once in America, they settled into Pennsylvania and New York. After the rest of the country began expanding, many members of the families moved into North Carolina, Alabama, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Illinois.

Karla’s family did not begin their migration into Missouri until after the turn of the 20th century. Many of them resided in the southeast corner of the state until the early 1950's. From this point, a sparse amount of them moved north and into Saint Louis.

Karla also has a humorous short story available for .49 cents at www.amazon.com under the Amazon Shorts or Books section.  "Bon, Appetit, Darling" is a witty tale about a frantic housewife who wreaks havoc on her unsuspecting family.
