About KSS

Kannada Sangha of Sacramento (KSS) is an association of Kannadigas from the Greater Sacramento area. Though Sacramento has a good number of Kannadigas, there was never an effort to bring them all together. During 1st week of october 2003, Laxmi Rao suggested two other Kannadigas, Arun Rao and Venugopal Acharya about celebrating Karnataka Rajyotsava. They readily agreed. These three divided the work involved in organizing the function among themselves. Under their leadership Rajyotsava was celebrated and it was a big success with a huge turnout. This encouraged them to organize more programs. They were not alone anymore. A group of other Kannadigas came forward to join hands with them. KSS is still in its infancy which needs to be nurtured and taken care of to grow into a strong organization.

KSS is a secular, educational, linguistic and cultural Non Profit Organization, and its aim is to accomplish the objectives set forth below:

OBJECTIVES
  • To protect, maintain, preserve and promote the interests, heritage, language, culture and history of Kannadigas residing in Greater Sacramento area.
  • To encourage the young generation of the Kannadigas in Greater Sacramento Area to participate in the activities of Kannada programs.
  • To establish a program of teaching Kannada language and culture for young children.
  • To establish forums for exchange of information among Kannadigas for helping each other.
  • To encourage Kannadigas to participate actively in all other Indian organizations in Sacramento, contribute to the growth and recognition of Indians.
