Everyone's welcome!

Founded over 50 years ago, the Kankakee Camera Club is open to anyone with an interest in photography who is looking to gain/share knowledge with fellow photographers. Our membership covers the full spectrum of skill levels and formats: amateurs, advanced amateurs and professionals, film and digital shooters, point and shoots, SLRs, large format, etc. Our goal is to share knowledge with each other and grow our skills as photographers, regardless of skill level or equipment used.

Membership Requirements & Dues...

Our only requirement is a love for photography. Everyone is welcome to attend our meetings and share in the knowledge. Club dues of $30 per single member and $40 per couple are required only if you choose to participate in our open judged competitions. These dues help offset the costs involved of putting on these competitions.

When We Meet…

The club meets at 7:30 p.m. the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from September to May. Meetings are held at Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School, on North Street in Bradley, IL. Check the Schedule of Events page for exact dates. For directions, click the Google map link below, or send us an email.

What to Expect…

Every meeting of the Kankakee Camera Club is a learning experience. Whether it's an open or club themed competition, an informative program or an exciting outing, you can always expect to learn something new and interesting! At the end of every meeting, one member volunteers to bring in snacks and we spend some quality time sharing the stories behind our pictures, equipment tips, ideas and more. We strive to keep every meeting fun, upbeat and educational!

An Open Letter to all Club Members from the President of CACCA

From Jerry Hug, CACCA President 2007-2008

What a great Summer for photography, and off we go into another year with CACCA and club activities. My question to everyone is how can your club become more relevant to interested photographers in your community?

My goal as president is clear and simple - lets make CACCA work for all our clubs. As president, I challenge each club to get back to basic photography and help your new members learn how to make good photographs first with their eyes and then the "camera". Lets show others how to leave the automatic or P mode and use f-Stops, Shutter speeds and exposure compensation etc. creatively. "Lets first get it right in the camera." The less darkroom (film or digital) work the more fun and less time needed to make great images.

To find new members and teach Basic Photography can be as simple as the four step plan. 1. Most important, advertise and publicize letting everyone know what your club has to offer in photography. Publicity is where your new members are going find out about your club and CACCA. 2. Plan and Schedule learning activities for your club. You are the photographic leaders in your community. 3. Engage good teachers from the ranks of your club or from the CACCA list of speakers. 4. Schedule and follow through with the participants. E-mail is a fast, cheap and easy way to communicate. Continue to help new members after they become involved. Make your club an encouraging organization that reaches out to new people.

This four step plan was developed a number years ago by Don Segraves (former CACCA President) for the Lombard club and the plan has been successful where ever people like you make it happen.

Club leaders, let others know what your club is doing in photo education for your club and photo community through the Yahoo Group.

Let us each hear about your club meetings for the 2007-2008 year.
