Entry of the Day
March 17, 2008 | Well...here is blog entry numba one.
Call me Poi or Kaida. I go by either. I'm 19, almost 20, live in Tacoma, WA, and still trying for my HS diploma. That's a story I'd rather not get into right now. I'm female and a gamer-chick/otaku/Japan-freak/just plain nutty. And damn proud of it.
But on to the entry of the day!
Sakuracon is in 10 days! I'm so excited! I'm on registration staff, so I'll be busy for part of the con, but it got me in for free! I'll be going with my middle sister, my friend Dark, and my girlfriend Nyoko...we'll also be meeting up with friends. Went to the bag-stuffing/Reg. staff training yesterday and had a blast! Met some people just as crazy as I am, and my sister and I met our future business partner! She's from Lynnwood, but we can work around that. We're planning a bakery/cosplay cafe, but it won't become a reality until I've at least got my degree as a Pastry Chef. Want at least one person accredited in there! That and my Mom's teaching only goes so far. I wanna learn to blow sugar, make yummeh chocolates, do things my Mom and I can only drool over when we're watching Food Network Challenges!
But yeah...Got a couple years to go at the least. But...that gives us plenty of time to plan and plot! In other news, I'm going to be adjusting my art commission prices before Sakuracon. That way, I can get commissioned at Sakura, and I'll have the prices on hand. Hopefully my laptop will be all fixed by Sakura so I can do on-site doodles for people. Nothing like the 10-minute chibi! But yeah...getting help from a few people in pricing since I have no idea what to price my new style at. DX
A couple days ago, my Grandpa's guide dog Logan got put down. The poor lab was sick with a flesh-eating virus (I think), and according to my Mom...he just wasn't himself anymore. It was a big blow on the entire family because Logan was everyone's friend and my Mom was going to get him once he retired in a year or two. He will be sorely missed...but I'm hoping he and my girl Jill are running around together, 'talking' about the family and swapping stories. Jill had been my Grandpa's guide dog before she was retired and became my dog. Like Logan, she had to be put down, but it was because her spine near her hips had fused. It's been 8 years and I still miss her.
Well...That's all for today! Have a happy St. Patty's, and blessed be!
