 Kamiak High School

Purpose

Kamiak PTO is an informal group of parents and staff united to improve communication between the school and home, to help parents become involved in the school, to assist and support staff and teachers in their work to provide the best education possible for our students, and to help our students achieve the best education possible during their high school years.

Kamiak PTO provides

...a means for parental presence and involvement at Kamiak.

...clerical support for staff...copying and preparing materials for use in the classroom, freeing up staff to spend more time on class planning and preparation.

...parent volunteers to assist with preparation of registration materials, assisting with registration, preparing "Back to School" packets for distribution to students, assisting with special school and student programs, and preparing the Kamiak "Clarion" newsletter for distribution to Kamiak families.

...offers the Kaplan mock PSAT, mock SAT, and the Kaplan PSAT preparatory course, and the Kaplan SAT preparatory course at Kamiak

...assistance with preparation and distribution of testing materials, such as WASL

...parent representatives to serve on the Kamiak Site Council, and Administrative Staff interview panels.

...an email ListServ to keep parents informed about activities, events, notices, volunteer opportunities and information for the Kamiak families.

...a student directory for Kamiak PTO member families.

...assist in the preparation and distribution of the Kamiak Parent Guide

...staff appreciation events throughout the year.

...Knight's apparel for students and parents, such as sweatshirts, t-shirts, pajama pants, and shorts.

...parent/community forums with staff, district personnel, and guest presenters on issues pertinent to the school and community.

...funds for special projects, equipment and teaching materials to benefit students and staff, not covered by state, district, school and ASB funding.

...scholarships for outstanding Kamiak Seniors, whose families are members of Kamiak PTO, pursuing educational opportunities beyond high school at four year colleges and universities, or two year colleges and technical institutions.

How can you participate...

join Kamiak PTO.  Just $15 per family per year. Your participation helps to make Kamiak the best school that it can be for our students. 

Your level of involvement in Kamiak PTO is entirely up to you.  It can be limited to your membership dues, because you support the work of Kamiak PTO; attending PTO meetings and forums; working on various PTO committees; or involve the contribution of your time as a parent volunteer in the area(s) of your choice.  You decide.
