SOUTH BAY JEET KUNE DO ACADEMY

SIFU MARK STEWART JEET KUNE DO WORKSHOP.  On Monday, August 24, 2009, from 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., South Bay Jeet Kune Do Academy will be hosting world renowned JKD instructor Mark Stewart from Singapore for a special 90 minutes JKD workshop.  Sifu Stewart will be covering angles of attack, stealing the corner, and position of advantage.  Cost is $15 per person.  Please contact kalijeetkunedo@yahoo.com for more information.

On Saturday July 11, the South Bay Jeet Kune Do demo team put on an exciting martial arts demonstration on stage at the annual Ohana Fest in Gardena at Mas Fukai Park.  They showed training focus mitt methods for training punch and kicking skills.  The students also did some light kickboxing sparring with boxing gloves.  They followed up with a demonstration of Filipino kali/escrima single stick sumbrada and disarms.  They finished the demo with an exhibition of double stick coordinationn drills.  Students who took part in the demonstration were Steve Yoshimura, Eric Jue, Romeo Baron, and John Tye.  They did a great job! 

On May 19, three students were certified as Apprentice Instructors in Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Kali Weaponry:  Eric Jue, John Tye, and Steve Yoshimura (pictured below in order).  All three went through an instructor-training period in which their teaching skills were developed, monitored, and evaluated.  They will continue to occasionally instruct at South Bay Jeet Kune Do Academy and are authorized to teach their own students.  Congratulations to each one of them for their hard work, dedication, and commitment.
