kakayi :

Kakayi is a Kurdish artist with a fairly dramatic personal story. He fled together with the family village, which yesterday by Sadam with chemical weapons wer as delivered. We know through the images on television, that there are more than 5000 fatalities were regrettable… many of them relatives and friends. The family has Kakayi particularly well with our integrated - but let even on their neatly language - so that we today on the artistic gain of Kakayi period.

The discipline with which Kakayi with us attract the most attention, of course mastery in the Calligraphy. While in the Eastern cultures the calligraphy is more of a tradition, it is quite unknown to us and so little practiced Friday. The calligraphy is with us as what the art of beautiful writing… Kakayi succeeds however to this "beatiful writing" to enrich to a medium with the potential of an individual and spiritual expression. Kakayi, this expression than with such aesthetic and artistic value-added, so this discipline is lifted to the artistic level of the most valuable Western drawing.

Eye for the still having traumatic history of this artist, the content of the work for me absurd. He brings still predominantly a message of love, peace, childish sentiments, tolerance and trust… a message that we translated "feel" through the iconography used. For most of us, beyond the Persian script is the limit of readability, but the rhythmic movement of the artists hand translates however, the emotion of the writer. The clarity and beauty of this work is here defined by the decorative quality of the characters and the subtle placement of characters.

The paintings of Kakayi we find easy connection. From abstract view, these canvases as labyrinten decided that arise within the mind. Men feel the search for values, mysticism, for authenticity… its subtly colored the perception of a spiritual agenda. This work is honest and authentic touch. The contents feels like coming from the intimacy of a good fellow.

Kakayi is een Koerdisch kunstenaar met een vrij dramatisch persoonlijk verhaal. Hij ontvluchtte samen met de familie zijn dorp, dat indertijd door Sadam met chemische wapens werd bestookt. Wij weten ondertussen via de beelden op televisie, dat er meer dan 5000 dodelijke slachtoffers te betreuren waren…velen onder hen waren familieleden en vrienden. Het gezin Kakayi is ondertussen echter bijzonder goed bij ons geïntegreerd – let maar even op hun keurig taalgebruik -, zodat we het vandaag vooral over de artistieke meerwaarde van Kakayi kunnen hebben.

De discipline waarmee Kakayi bij ons de meeste aandacht trekt, is natuurlijk zijn meesterschap in de Kalligrafie. Terwijl in de Oosterse culturen de kalligrafie eerder een traditie is, is ze bij ons vrij onbekend en dus vrij weinig beoefend. De kalligrafie staat bij ons zo wat voor de kunst van het schoonschrijven…Kakayi slaagt er echter in om dit “schoonschrijven” te verrijken tot een medium met de mogelijkheden van een individuele en spirituele expressie. Kakayi brengt deze expressie dan met een dergelijke esthetische en artistieke meerwaarde, zodat deze discipline wordt opgetild naar het artistieke niveau van de meest waardevolle Westerse tekenkunst.

Oog hebbend voor de toch traumatische voorgeschiedenis van deze kunstenaar, komt de inhoud van het werk mij ongerijmd voor. Hij brengt toch overwegend een boodschap van liefde, vrede, kinderlijke gevoelens, verdraagzaamheid en vertrouwen…Een boodschap die men vertaald “voelt” via de gebruikte iconografie. Voor de meeste onder ons, overstijgt het Perzische schrift immers de grens van de leesbaarheid, maar de ritmische beweging van de kunstenaarshand vertaalt echter de emotie van de schrijver. De duidelijkheid en de schoonheid van dit werk wordt hier bepaald door de sierlijke kwaliteit van de tekens en de subtiele plaatsing van karakters.

Bij de schilderijen van Kakayi vinden wij gemakkelijk aansluiting. Van uitzicht abstract, worden deze doeken aangevoeld als labyrinten die ontstaan binnen de geest. Men voelt het zoeken naar waarden, naar mystiek, naar authenticiteit… het zijn subtiel gekleurde dagboeken van een geestelijk agenda. Dit oeuvre is doorleefd en eerlijk. De inhoud voelt aan als komende vanuit de intimiteit van een goede medemens.

Met zijn kalligrafie zet kakayi een eeuwen oude traditie voort: de kunst om woorden om te zetten in een dans van lijnen .terwijl de traditionsle arabische kalligrafie meestal in zwarte letters wordt geverfd waagt kakayi zich op het kleuren pad :Subtiel en uiterst geduldig verft hij de letters in duizend kleuren .De Arabische tekens zijn met zoveel zwier geschilderd dat ze wel vleugels lijken . li Gommeren 2007
