News (06.05.2009)

Sorry, you guys, for yet another delayed news report. I had some trouble getting a hold of the new album and I didn't feel like updating the site before I could get the album, and most importantly, the lyrics. Please find it in your heart to forgive me or something. Anyway, let us move on to the festivities!

Kaizers Orchestra

Damn right! The new Kaizers album, Våre demoner, hit the shelves on April 27 (the release date was delayed) and went straight to the top of the album charts! However, that will not last long, as the remaining unsold copies of the album are withdrawn from the market today, and will probably be stored inside a large crate in the Area 51 Warehouse, together with the Ark of the Covenant, the Crystal Skull, James Woods and more. So basically, if you missed out, chances are it'll be hard to find a copy of the album. Heh, as I said already, I even had trouble. No doubt the album will become an instant collector's item, and you'll have to shell out some major bucks to obtain one in the near future, so no time like the present. It can still be found on eBay, but who knows for how long?

During production, a few changes were made to the final album. Unbeknownst why, the title of "Du og meg Sonny" was changed to just "Sonny". Also, "Den sjette sansen" and "Señor Torpedo", originally track number #7 and #8 respectively, switched places in the final release. And most importantly, a demo take of "Under månen", a soft ballad performed only once in 2006 of which there was taken one (unfinished) recording that has circulated around the hardcore fanbase, has been added as a bonus track, which can be purchased together with the album in webstores such as iTunes or eMusic. It is likely that a Facebook petition with the goal of getting them to release this song as well as "Den sjette sansen" has inspired Kaizers to do this. In any case, now you can enjoy the song whenever you want. Thanks, guys!

Lots of promotion went down to...promote the album, the most prominent being a documentary on the making of "Die Polizei" directed and filmed by none other than Geir "Hellraizer" Zahl! You can check it out via the Geeza Productions channel on YouTube. It's a softly paced half-hour reflection on the making of a song...awesome. And it feels genuinely Kaizer-ish, with low production values and gritty quality. Check it out, now. You'll get some inside information on the album, songs and the Kaizerian process of making songs. The only problem is...there are no subtitles, and it's in Norwegian. However, there are some plans related to transcribing or subtitling the documentary. More on this as it develops...either officially or "unofficially", it's likely to happen. In addition to this, they had regular TV spots and media coverage. It's a new album, after all.

As usual, a subsequent tour followed, it being dubbed another "fan" tour, what with playing small venues in Norway and featuring "unusual" setlists, if not to the degree of the 250 Prosent tour of last year. The tickets sold out almost before I had the chance to write the previous newspost, so don't sue me if you missed out. It was a very limited tour anyway, and unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to attend this time around. One notable thing from this tour is that they have stated that most of the material from Våre demoner would be quickly scrapped from setlists after their performances during the tour. The ones that garnered the most crowd reaction or sounded the best live have been promised to be included in future sets, so that doesn't mean the entire album is scrapped by any means. However, they officially "buried" the bonus track "Under månen" during one of the shows, so you're not likely to hear that live.

Kaizers Inst.'s official review of the album will soon be posted on Last.fm and other outlets, if you're into that kind of stuff. If you want to see a crazed biased fanboy praise the new album so much you'll feel like puking, this is what you want to be reading! ...No, but seriously, a balanced account is what you can expect. A nice track-by-track evaluation. It's better than that Twilight stuff you're reading anyway.

So what are you waiting for? Get the album now! It's great. As always, expect some nice bootleg tracks from the Våre demoner tour within a couple of weeks. I'll feature more than usual this time around, as a way of repaying you faithful page visitors for my being late with a news update. 'Kay? Don't be surprised if another certain live recording appears around here soon, either. I'll say no more...let's just say that you will NOT be disappointed.

Site news

Well, the new album has been released, and as such, the lyrics have been uploaded! Not only that, an early draft of an English translation has also been completed. I apologize for not bringing this to you on release day, like I did with Maskineri, but better late than never, eh? Anyway, check the Norwegian lyrics out here, and the English translation here.

Also, I made some failed attempts at changing the site design, so some of you may have experienced some viewing issues since last time. No need to worry, it ought to work for all browsers by not. No site design change until further notice, sorry >.>

Again, we have an addition by subtraction...due to running out of page space, I had to remove the gnom/BS&J lyrics to make room for the Våre demoner lyrics. Don't worry, they (as well as complete English translations) will be back on the site within the year is over, most likely.

Poll results

This just in...poll results! Well, the question was "which Våre demoner track are you looking the most forward to hearing?" And 141 strong Spartans made their decision. Thanks for voting you guys!

It wasn't a very balanced poll, though.  The opening track, "Medisin & psykiatri" won out with 32 votes. The second place, and the ONLY competition it might have had, is the classic "Die Polizei". "Gruvene på 16" also appeared to be an anticipated number with 13 votes. "Fanden hakk i hel" and "Stormfull vals", each with 8 votes were the least anticipated album tracks.

But this time it's for real...which track is your favourite from the new album, if you've heard it? Kaizers Inst. wants your opinion!

I know it's an underwhelming news report this time around, as you more than likely followed the matter pretty closely on other Kaizers fan sites...which is good, 'cause that means you were able to get all the news and stuff. Anyway, I hope you have fun with the new album and lyrics, as I surely have! Once again, thanks for visiting the site and supporting the Kaizers underground army.
