EVERY EXIT LEAVE YOUR CARES
1. All patients who have Life Support Issues are confused at some point. I had hallucinacions for 2 months.
2. Pts. need understanding, care, patience and a support system.
3. Most pts. after being on Life Support lose weight. Their tastes change and they may not eat as much or may
eat a lot more than ususal. Most pts. have feeding tubes in, therefore, the appetite is different.
4. Make the home environment as stress free as possible. We have had enough stress for an entire lifetime.
5. Never ask questions that may upset a person that hs just experienced this traumatic event. Some people ask
me what I remembered and it was very disturbing to me. I could not remember anything right away. It was
also very frustrating.
6. Take care of yourselves as the person needs your help after the event is over. Eat, get sleep...you'll need it.
