"Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to
new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom.
Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon.
They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints
on our hearts, and we are never ever the same."

When I joined an online group, I did not know how
special some of those ladies would become to me.
I started out just "listening" to some of the chat
that goes on in groups. One name kept me coming
back..."SMOKE".
Who was this funny lady? She sure caught my
attention. She was also editor of our group's
newsletter "Smoke Signals". I just loved
reading her editorials. She had such a unique way of
telling stories.
I soon found out just how remarkable this lady was!
She had lung cancer and soon, brain cancer also. We
all knew it would be only a matter of time.

She had such courage and such love for her family
and friends. Her love for her beloved husband
"Jason" was an inspiration to us all. Her love for her
children and grandchildren kept us in tears! All
of us in the group just wanted to wrap our arms around
her and shout to this dreaded disease "STOP!!!"
"YOU CAN'T HAVE HER!!" But, we couldn't stop
it....It kept eating away at her until it overcame
her......July 25th, 2006 @ 8:15 am......she left
her beloved family and friends. No, death
did not win. We are all better human beings
because someone cared enough to send us
"SMOKE SIGNALS"
We shall never forget you Dear Lady!!

In Loving Memory Of
Kathalise "Smoke" Martin

"Remember Me"
Remember me in quiet days
when raindrops whisper on your pane,
but in your memories have not grief
just let the joy we knew remain.
Remember me when evening stars
look down on you with steadfast eyes,
Remember me if once you wake
to catch a glimpse of a red sunrise
And when your thoughts do turn to me
know that I would not have you cry.
But live for me and laugh for me.
For when you are happy so am I.
Remember an old joke we shared.
Remember me when spring walks by.
Think of me when you are glad,
and while you live, I shall not die
