I decided to create this club to raise awareness about cruelty to animals. Unfortuanately, kids (even at young ages) are involved all-too often in acts of cruelty towards animals. These acts can be the result of something affecting the children in their lives, such as bullying or child abuse.
I organized this club in honor of the millions of animals who suffer each year from abuse, neglect, and abandonment. It is also in honor of my friend, Rhiannon's, former cat, Shadow, who was poisoned by neighbors who disliked Rhiannon's family. It just goes to show how animals often fall victim to the violent lives and minds that too many people have today.
My goal is to educate children, ages eight to seventeen, about preventing animal cruelty, and the humane treatment of animals. I hope that soon, we will be able to organize fundraisers in order to raise money for non-profit local animal shelters and rescues. Also, I hope that this club will extend out of my area and reach children around the country, so that someday animal cruelty will become something of the past.
