BLOCKS:They are fine for children and beginners learning the martial arts , as they teach body movement /mechanics , correct techniques , angle and direction , co-ordination etc. However the deeper understanding of the arts is body anatomy which leads us to pressure points , restraints and locks. Thats's what ju-te-do teaches. The beauty about the pressure points is that they can be applied to any system and enhance any self-defence out there .In my opinion if your not using pressure points at your club then you're selling yourself short and your art is not as effective as it could be,and your most likely using strength ,and as we all know strength is very limited.... SO DO YOUR SELF AND YOUR STUDENTS A FAVOUR AND GET INTO PRESSURE POINTS.WHEN APPLIED CORRECTLY THEY REQUIRE THE STRENGTH OF A 7YR OLD CHILD , IS THAT THE SAME WITH YOUR ART .???
Here's a test stick a 10 pence or something that size on a willing volunteer's (training partner) body then try and hit it, first stationary ,then while moving. If you can do that then you can use pressure points in combat and really enhance your art ..
