Poetry Everyone Can Understand And Relate To

Hello everyone my name is Joe Theriot and the author of these two books.  Below you will find an overveiw and a few samples of my work.  My simple style of writing poetry is written with intent to reach people of all walks of life.  I hope my poetry will bring comfort to those in need, love into lovers hearts, the joys and pains of life, perhaps a different way of looking at things.  I live with the desire to give my readers just what they need.  I dream of my poetry being enjoyed by  generations until the end of time. Enjoy my poetry for which they were intended, please sign my guestbook at the end.

In my book you will find I arranged my poetry into three parts. The first part, "Just Joe," is a little about who I am. The second part, "Just Life," has life experiences-some of my own, others lived vicariously, from birth, joys of parenting, watching your children grow into adults, love, the good and bad, trials, life situations, and exodus. The third part, "Just Poetry," addresses plants, animals, nature, competition, and random thoughts.

Poet’s Wish
Things that are recorded on these pages,
I wish to share through out the ages.
My thoughts, experiences, and feelings,
or perhaps a problem from which I am dealing.
Interpret them through my perception,
knowing it's the truth with is no exception.
My thoughts I wish to pass through time.
I send my message with a rhyme.
Whether it is funny, insightful, or sad,
these are my life experiences, the good and bad.
Enjoy them as you read,
I hope my words have planted a seed.
Read them and grow,
from the things I want you to know.

To Be Shy
Such a lady looking prim and proper.
I am way too shy to stop her.
Just some courage I need to find,
without it I am left behind.
Not knowing what to say,
my lady walks away.

Soul Mates
You are my lady, I am your man.
Together in life we have plan.
When I am tired, you rub my shoulder.
When you cry, I am there until it is over.
Together we are quite a team.
Flowing together as if we were a stream.
Working together on a common goal,
happy memories when we get old.
I’ll climb every mountain,
I will swim across every sea.
To keep you happy and next to me.

Fountain of Youth
I live vicariously through your youthful eyes.
Each thing you learn is a new exciting surprise.
With every bump and scrape,
I feel your pain each time you ache.
I was just as excited about your first kiss.
I felt the disappointment each time you swung and missed.
You are my fountain of youth.
I even kept your very first tooth.
Wanting your life to be better than the one I had.
Having enjoyable moments being your dad.
Again, I am young if only in my mind.
Your memories take me where my body leaves me behind.

Late
Come on, are you ready?
I cannot wait, legs be steady.
Some things cannot wait,
now we’re going to be very late.
What is taking you so long?
Please do not tell me something’s wrong.
Something I can do to assist?
The function I care not to miss.
I do not know what is your reason,
but I know we have a new change of season.
Spring is now summer,
I am about ready for slumber.
I am sure you’re absolutely stunning,
please tell me you are ready and coming.
Yes, I am sure,
I turned off everything and locked the door.

Life’s Question
My life, I question, did I waste?
Where it is rooted is its place?
Sometimes I feel I do not belong,
from a decision I choose that was wrong.
Perhaps I shall never know,
where it was I was supposed grow?
My daily struggle to do my best,
not knowing what it is I quest.
No answer seems to be right,
and yet another day has now become night.
One thing I am happy to say,
“I am glad to see another day.”
To attempt to right things I have gotten wrong,
and set them the way they belong.
No one said life was a breeze,
truth and honesty make it more at ease.
There is always a brighter side,
if you can’t find it, you have not tried.

Night Thunderstorm

Little by little, you fall from the sky,
as if the night was to cry.
Gazing into the night’s abyss,
beautiful points of light I do miss.
A flash of light and a roll of thunder,
I observe as it keeps me from my slumber.
After the rain and thunder have passed,
finally, asleep at last.

Chemistry

You feel it, so do I,
we cannot fight it so why try?
Our chemistry seem to compound,
each time we are around.
My thoughts are primal,
I have got to have you that is final.
I will not be able rest,
until I have you at my side as my best.
I can tell you feel it too, by your look,
you have the feeling, one glance is all it took.
Just by the gleam in your eye,
I must have you, I must at least try.
You fill that primal need,
you would satisfy me indeed.
