Game Globe

There's a whole world of games out there. Find it at Game Globe.

News

News is very important to the gaming society. It lets people know when games or game demos are coming out. It also serves to let players know what is going on around the gaming world among other things. This section of Game Globe is updated the most often, normally leaving links to previews on highly anticipated games or features found at other sites discussing games deeply.

Moving...02.09.08

The game of the year awards are finished. I discovered I tried to do too much and just wrapped them up in a final five countdown. In other news, I am moving from Freewebs. It will be a while before I transfer everything over, but in the meantime, enjoy what you see here. This is a year and half's work and dedication. It feels bad to eventually scrap save a group of documents and works. But it was inevitable, I was growing too annoyed of Freewebs. Their site editor got buggy, troublesome, and I just could not take it anymore. This is not yet goodbye, but Game Globe will eventually be destroyed.

But it is not the end of my game journalism. Game Globe 2.0 will eventually come forth and take the place of Game Globe. I will be switching over to the provider tripod. I do not know how long this will last, seeing that I am having trouble embedding videos and doing a few other tasks. When construction is complete I will post it here. But the beta is available to view. This is only the starting, but it is at least a preview of what is to come: http://justaclone2.tripod.com.

Thanks for all the support, reading, and spreading of word, and all the other stuff.

More GOTY Awards Released...Explanation on New GOTY Awards 02.06.08

    Days pass too fast.

I released more Game of the Year awards, and when you check, you'll see that I jumped right down to overall GOTY awards. I decided I had planned too much for Game Globe's GOTY awards this year. My coverage of other events, like the Pre-E3 articles, the E3 coverage, that was all great. But I took on too much for the GOTY awards. So when I finish off the remaining awards, I have a special anouncement to make that will be posted here. That's all I'll say for now.

AIAS GOTY Nominees Released 01.24.08

As the AIAS 11th annual Game of the Year awards near, the voting becomes tense. Within the past few days, the Academy released the nominated games for all of the Game of the Year award categories. Probably the toughest decision will be the "Best Action Game of the Year" award, in which the big five nominated: Bioshock, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Crysis, Halo 3, and The Orange Box. Overall Game of the Year award nominees are: Bioshock, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Rock Band, Super Mario Galaxy, and The Orange Box. There are tough choices in EVERY category. I wouldn't want to be a judge in these awards. It would be too hard to decide.

You can see all the nominees and the awards they are nominated for here.

11th Annual AIAS Awards 01.16.08

I released the first article for the GOTY awards here. It is called, "2007...Explained", and simply explains my view on what 2007 was in gaming terms. I will be releasing more awards and articles as the week continues, but will be taking a break over the weekend because of exams taking place next week. I do have one day off of school Monday, but I am going to take a personal day Monday while also studying for exams. I don't want to explain it in full yet. Also, I will be getting Friday off of school, so I'll have some extra time to work over here. And the days I am in school next week, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, I will be going for a half day while taking my exams.

Now the focal point of the article, the AIAS' Game of the Year awards. The AIAS is what I consider to be the overall judge for games when it really boils down to it. The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences is dedicated to judging games at a quality level that defeates any other judging. I personally get references for game of the year awards from the AIAS, and highly regard the judgement of the AIAS. Voting has begun on the 11th Annual AIAS Game of the Year awards within the past two days, and though I do not think we will be able to see the nominees before the awards are announced we will be able to find out the winners on February 7th. There are two sources to discover the winners, you can find out at the AIAS Site, www.interactive.org, or by tuning online at GameSpot on February 7th, where the awards will be hosted online.

I KNOW! I KNOW! 01.08.08

Trust me, no one else is as worried about the release of Game Globe's GOTY awards out than I am. And if you are one of my raving fans asking, "WHERE ARE THE GOTY AWARDS," I will be happy to answer your questions.

I mentioned the GOTY awards Friday, and I woke up the next day, sick. I had a fever the entire weekend plus an extra day, Monday, being the worse fever I've had in years. I don't sick often, maybe once or twice a year, I have a good immune system. My temperture hit 102.9, wow. So with missing school Monday, returning Tuesday to do homework for Monday and Tuesday all day Tuesday, I obviously couldn't start the award ceremony. Don't worry, it will come out! I garuntee you. I've also had a lot of PC trouble lately stemming from attempting to get Bioshock running again. Something went wrong with those drivers. In the meantime, I've been using other computers that don't have the right editors or they just don't fit my favorite office style for working on Game Globe. So I'll do everything I can in my power to get the awards rolling soon. But also to heed as a reminder, Mid-Terms in two weeks...The triple dots should say enough.

At least I now have an even better picture of what each game will be walking away with at the end of these awards this year. And IGN's OVERALL awards are going out tomorrow, so you may want to keep your eyes over there as well.

Game Globe Super Update 01.04.08

Though in a technical sense, I plan to fully start the Game Globe awards this coming Monday, I have returned from my un-mentioned Christmas vacation. I did mention my vacation to those who read my latest chapter of Rebellion, but since Game Globe was so inactive I did not mention anything here. Of course really I have been working on the Game of the Year awards rather than just leaving things here unattended.

I plan to fully launch these awards Monday and they may take a week or two at the most to post. Keep in mind that the second quarter or school is ending so mid-terms are coming up. They are taking place three weeks from this Tuesday, so things will most likely slow down or definitely halt in the last group of days before that Tuesday.

This Christmas, I got a present that can be classified as an update to the Game Globe Rig: a new video card. This new video card will help me further realize the excellence or poorness of a graphics engine, seeing that I will now have the ability to play games at what has been considered their "high-end" graphics. Of course, this is not always the case. The new video card and the required process with the drivers and all the stupid problems caused by the video card to get large step closer (some things are still being done to reach this step) to gaming "nirvana" will all be explained in full at the Globe Globe Rig page. From how much I have used this video card, and how much I have been able to test it, it is that good. It was without a doubt worth the wait.

So GOTY awards coming, a rather lengthy discussion about my new video card: the Visiontek HD 2600 PRO AGP is also coming, and obviously I have to have some reviews coming out. Those will come later this year, probably during the gaming lull, but at least I can get videos running better.

Note: I am still experiencing problems with my video card or drivers, or other pieces of hardware. I am not positive on what the problem is or what the solution is, it may be my power supply unit. I am not positive yet. I will keep you all posted though.

    Merry Christmas, Happy New Year.

    Justin.
