J-C top 5 hookbaits:
J-C number 5 -would be have to be the pop-up boilie,i like to use bright ones.
J-C number 4 - would have to be the good old grains,which still catch plenty of carp and will continue to do so in my mind
J-C number 3 - would have to be the growlers AKA the tiger nut
J-C number 2 - would have to be any of the plastic fantastic they are quality and there are just so many from pellets to luncheon meat.there are also pop-up plastic baits available which are also very effective.
J-C number 1- and winner -is the good old boilie this bait needs no introduction to any carp angler .my personal choice are poacher baits tiger nut and maple the carp love the stuff and i think i will be using this bait for many years to come.
But in winter when i favour a smaller brighter bait i will use half a richworth boilie pellet.
So we've looked at hookbaits now to freebies ,the bait that pulls the carp in to the swim and keeps them in there,weather it be via spod ,hand or pva they all do the job.
J-C 5 baits to have in your mix -
sweetcorn - adds visual attraction and carp love it
hemp - carp love it and it gets the carp feeding hard against trying to get every grain it also it also keeps them in the swim because it is so small
pellets - be in trout,halibut or just carp pellets carp love them all and it gets the carp competing for there food QUALITY
Boilies - crushed and whole ,its important you put a good few out or the carp will get to pre-occupied on the smaller baits and total ignore the bigger baits.also the carp will not suck as hard there for the bigger boilies will not go in to the carps mouth.
It is also a very good idea to use lots of different size baits ,this will get the carp guessing and this will make them alot easier to catch.This also should be the case when using boilies,instead of just baiting up with 20 18mms boilies ,why not at some 14mms and then maybe some 10mms ,they won't have a clue and that will definatly get you more bites.
