Seven is BACK…

LOREAL August 16th, 2008

After a few months of restricted activity due to a back injury and then a severely cut pad, Seven is BACK!!! We were ecstatic to see Seven return to the dock in late July during a practice session with Abe, one of our favorite Labs or Blabs as we call them!! After mom and dad saw that Seven still had the drive and obvious desire to start jumping again they accepted an invitation to join the National Diving Dog Tour put on by Oust and Purina.

Sevenz first competition in months was at the NJ State Fair in Augusta, NJ. We had a fun filled weekend with Seven and Lucas at the fair!!! Seven did really well at the event and to our SURPRISE and DELIGHT Seven pulled off a 1st Place win with a jump in the 26’ range!! (measured to the nose) WOW we were aw-struck with his performance and thrilled that he was smiling and wagging his tail at the end of the weekend!! Here's a link to the video recap of the weekend:

Just when you think it can’t get any better we went from the NJ State Fair to Manhattan to tape a segment for the “Late Show with David Letterman” OMG as my students would say…this is a once in a life time opportunity for Seven and for us!!!

We spent the day in Manhattan with 2 other jumping dogs and their humans, Colby from Team Blabador and Forrest Gumpy part of the Crazy Jack Pack. The experience was one of a kind after ironing out some details with the producer and director during a practice run through we got to hang out in the studio “green room” until the actual taping was to occur. Seven and his jumping buddies appeared on the Letterman on Monday August 4th here is a link to some clips of the dogs jumping in NYC right in front of the studios.

Next for Seven will be continuing rehab at the beach with Lucas watching his every move, along with our nightly family walks to build his muscles and start to increase his speed. We will be at some local events in the next couple of months, but taking it easy as Seven builds his strength.

Sevenz next big television appearance should be airing in Mid-January as we travel to St. Louis to defend his Purina Incredible Dog Challenge Title at Purina Farms.
