Excerpt...

The three of us sat on the "Queens bench" eating our bacon, egg, and cheese biscuits. The bench happens to be at the highest peak of our land. Ej  had finished eating and was sitting waiting for Jewels and me. When I looked at him and he had a devilish look in his eye. It mademe smile in response.
He jumped under the bench and acted all quiet. Then suddenly he banged his fist on the ground.
"Jewels, are you getting transmission.....shshshshs....I am on the hill of the famous Flynn Ranch." Then  he jumped on top of the bench to get better reception.
I got done eating so I then jumped in front of him acting like I was his camerawoman. He smiled and nodded his head to show we  are on the same page. Jewels was still eating and enjoying our show. This was to be a good show too.
"I'm filming from the famous Flynn Ranch. This land spans a hundred acers or as far as the eye can see and maybe them some. The Ranch houses Jeffrey Fylnn as the Dad. Catheryn Fylnn as the Mom, and their six daughters and Rock, their son-in-law. Then the most famous son Ej Flynn, and two grand twins Janie and Jamie, Ranch managers Fred and Matt, many Ranchers, five Cook's and four breeds of horses. They have Appaloosa, Morgans, Palominos and American Shetland ponies and occasionally some wild Mustangs." Ej said excitedly all in one breath. Ej ran up yo Jewels to get her input on what he was reporting.
"Now, Miss, what do you have to tell us about the Ranch owner of Flynn Ranch?"
"I know he loves every one you mentioned, Ej, but he would have told you his girls and their names, first there is Frances, Nina, Annie, Jewels and Baby Beth," Jewels with her fingers out as counting them one by one.
Ej rushed to me and said "What about you young lady?"
"Well, Mr. Flynn has a way of letting you know where he stands and what is important to him. I think that is important also." I blurted out.
"Enough of this. We are about Queenly and Kingly business! Let's get changed, Yes,yes, yes," Jewels started to giggle in anticipation of what was ahead. You're Princess Beth of the Green Woods and Ej you're a King of another kingdom visiting the beautiful baby Beth."
"Jewels, don't call me baby Beth. I am 12 years old now. No baby! Remember, I'm the princess Beth?" She can tell I am irritated with her, but nothing shakes her world of fantasy.
"Ok, but you are my favorite baby Beth, right?" she looked at me with a funny smile and those wide sparkling sky blue eyes that match my own. Sometimes it is like looking at a mirror when looking at her reflective eyes. It makes me laugh out loud. I cannot stay mad at her. She knows how to bring the fun and imagination to every situation. Whether it may be bothersome to others.
"Ej shouts out"Hey jewels can I wear my baseball cap under this crown? It fits and I think it looks good." standing with a little bow.
Jewels stood silent for a moment..."You are from another kingdom. Maybe that is how you do it there, right?"

"Right!" Ej wearing a winning smile in victory of this little battle.
The cool breeze  of spring blows though the field of wild flowers that Jewels keeps planted around the "Queens bench."
The "Queens bench" has such a romantic true story about our parents' beginnings. I don't think Jewels could have ever made up one of her fairy tales to match it...
Our parents came from poor families. My fathers name is Jeffrey Earl Flynn, and my mother is Catheryn Marie Smith. They dated for a year. It was one of those tales of love at first sight, or that is what my Dad claims. Then my father's great grand-father died, left him money and quite a bit of land. I think it was a hundred acers. It turned out he had just enough money to pay the back taxes. He was able to purchase a mobile home trailer and bought wood to build this bench. Then he planted wild flowers seeds around it. It took my father a month to get all these business affairs in order. This is when he took my mother to the bench site. (Jewels later named it "Queens bench" after she had heard this story.) He showed my mother all the land and his new home and asked her to marry him. In his proposal of marriage he gave her a promise of all the love, land and hard work she could stand. She was thrilled to say "Yes!" Then adding she would give him all the love and as many children he could love. They both agreed and have kept their promises to each other and us. He had no ring at the time so he pointed to the lovingly made bench, which would represent their oath. Still even now they spend many moonlighted nights on the bench, which Jewels always keeps wild flowers planted around it. Later my father gave mom a beautiful wedding ring, but she says the "Queens bench" was always enough. I love this story, but Ej, my twin brother, just humors Jewels and
me about it. I don't care if he feels the same..
