Julia Barlow Photography

Biography

Julia Barlow is a photography student at the Art Institute of Boston, in the everlasting process building her portfolio. As a high school student at Monroe-Woodbury, she first started her career focusing on straight-forward, simple portraits, in attempt to catch a temporary moment or emotion. After a little over a month in college, she has narrowed down her focus to self portraits that portray an undying emotion in herself -- as opposed to the less permanent sentiments she captured in previous works. Her main reason for getting into self portraiture is because she enjoys photography, but strictly as a “behind the camera” type. She hopes to discover more about herself by studying herself as a subject. Her current projects all revolve around portraiture - of herself, and of others. She will soon be incorporating family as subjects, with heavy drastic lighting, to define facial features. For more information, feel free to email her at jbarlow2@lesley.edu
