Doug Williams Interview

John: Hello Doug, may I first of all say what a pleasure it is to be interviewing you?

Doug Williams: Hi, thank you very much, it's a pleasure to be able to give you an interview!

John: Why thank you.

John : So first of all mate, could you tell me who you are and a little about yourself?

Doug Williams: My name is Doug Williams and I'm a British Pro-Wrestler have been for about 10 years. I live in Kent but come from Berkshire and I like cats - so I've got 3 of them. I spent 8 years doing Judo before becoming a Pro-Wrestler, and I am a qualified Quantity Surveyor although I don't have a job doing that now - I just work freelance when I need to.

John: And the promotions you work for are...?

Doug Williams: FWA, All Star, Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling NOAH, EWP, PWA, ACW the list goes on and on!

John: Big promotions. So how do you feel the British Wrestling industry is at the moment?

Doug Williams: Fairly stable, promoters are running that have been running for years and they draw respectable numbers for independent shows.

John : Yep. It's definitely getting better. How do you feel The Wrestling Channel will grow the business?

Doug Williams: Hopefully it will make more people aware that there are viable alternatives to WWE out there. Of course we're all hoping it will help boost attendances at FWA shows:)

John: On the subject of British Wrestling, have you anything to say on Phil Lowe?

Doug Williams: if you have read a recent interview with Alex Shane then that pretty much sums up my view of him and Wrestling X as well.

John: Ah well I shall read that. So tell me about your career honours so far.

Doug Williams: well, I am current holder of the FWA Heavyweight Title (2nd reign), and PWF Mid-Heavyweight Title and I've previously held the ASW British Heavyweight title and TWA European and Tag Titles

Doug Williams: Also this year I won the EWP Hannover Tournament in Germany.

John: Impressive. So who are your friends in the business?

Doug Williams: Hmmm-tricky one. I count a few wrestlers as friends - I don't want to name any in case I leave someone out. But as for other people in the business I'd say Sheldon Goldberg (promoter in USA) and Dino Scarlo (FWA Director)

John Porter: Do you have any enemies, or people you haven't got on with?

Doug Williams: not really, I get on with pretty much everybody. Funny though that some people you meet when you are just starting out, or don't really have a name for yourself are that much nicer when I have met them again in the past couple of years!

John: Yeah. Fickleness of the business

John: Anything else you wish to add?

Doug Williams: Just to thank the support of the fans over the past few years and to say please come out and support British Wrestling. There's a lot, A LOT, of very good stuff out there.

John: Thank you for this interview Doug- it's been awesome for me, just hope it was equally as good for you.
