The Broadway really kick started their season with this victory over Micklefield 2005. Glen Taylor made some changes for the game. Most notably with new signing Trevor Lister starting at centre half with Eddie Wade. Lawton moved to right back and Sykes replace Longley at left back. There were also changes in the midfield as Nunns moved to central midfield to partner Jamie Marshall and Dyson switched to the right. Priestley continued on the left and Hastings and Hazelgrave continued up front. The Broadway started brightly and were ahead early on. Marshall swung an excellent corner in from the left for Hastings to nod home. The new look defence was looking assured and the Broadway were soon two up as again Marshall swung in the corner from the left and Hastings arrived at the back post to volley home his second. The Broadway had another chance soon after as Nunns won the ball played a one two with Hastings but put his shot wide of the target. Not long after the Broadway had their third as Priestley picked up a ball from Nunns and cut in from the left before sending an excellent curling shot into the top right had corner. Dyson and Lawton were putting a lot of pressure on Micklefield down the right hand side and their hard work put Hazelgrave in on the right of the area. The striker played an unselfish ball across the box but Priestley missed a simple tap in at the far post. The Broadway back four kept Micklefield very quiet and Taylor swept everything up well in goal. The fourth came just before half time. Marshall met a Micklefield clearance with a thumping header, Hazelgrave flicked it on well with the outside of his foot and Hastings went though and lobbed the keeper for his hat trick. Half time Broadway FC 4-0 Micklefield 2005 The second half was much of the same from the Broadway. Sykes and Priestley were attacking well down the left and the Broadway were creating some good chances. Hastings fired a couple wide from distance and Hazelgrave was denied at the back post by the keeper. Dyson missed a one on one after a good one two with Hastings, but Hazelgrave soon made it five with a good strike from distance with his left foot that the keeper could only parry into the net. Hastings completed the win for the Broadway after a good free kick from Marshall was flicked on well by Hazelgrave and Hastings slid the ball home. Dyson was replaced by Merifield after an excellent performance from the skipper and the Broadway closed the game out. Marshall picked up his second MOM of the season after another assured performance and Nunns was awarded TOTW.
