5/11/06 Leeds City Rovers 2 - 0 Broadway FC

The Broadway were beaten by a young Leeds side at the Adel Memorial Ground on a very windy day where conditions hampered both teams.

The Broadway were without Lawton and Priestley. Bertucci cam into central midfield and Longley started at left back with Sykes at left wing.

It was not long into the game before Bertucci was limping off with a hamstring injury causing a complete re-shape for the Broadway with Barker coming on at right back and Nunns switching to central midfield.

The Broadway were playing with the wind in the first half but failed to create many opportunities often over hitting their passes. Leeds were playing some good football and took the lead early on after a good passing move.

Hastings had a chance to level after an excellent punt from Speight but his volleyed effort was dealt with by the keeper at the near post.

Leeds City added a second under very contentious circumstances. Hazelgrave was given offside as the Broadway attacked down the left. The referee had clearly missed a defender in the centre playing him onside, and even admitted his mistake. From the subsequent free kick a Leeds player got the ball down the left in what looked to be an offside position and squared for the centre forward to tap in an easy goal.

The Broadway raised their game in the second half and created more chances. Nunns was starting to win a lot of tackles in the midfield but the referee continued to disrupt the Broadway with petty free kicks.

Dyson made an excellent run down the right but his back post cross was not converted and a floated free kick from Hastings was almost turned in by Taylor and Hazelgrave.

Leeds had an excellent effort from their right back come back off the cross bar and there were not many more chances in the game as the Broadway struggled against the wind. Merifield replaced Longley on the left but the game fizzled out and the Broadways unbeaten run comes to an end.

Nunns picked up his first MOM for an excellent second half and central midfield partner Marshall picked up TOTW after too many ales affected his performance.
