"The Weight Of A Mantle" Greetings to all of you today in the Name of Jesus. 2009 is almost over and yes it is the time when we start to make our plans for End of Year celebrations and Holiday gatherings. We reflect back and see how the last few months look like a blur, we speculate on how the year went so fast, and we talk about what we will do in 2010. I'm shocked at some of the declarations I heard in 2009 and the convictions with which they were spoken; and to see the preparation until manifestation is somewhat sad because the spirit of the spoken word has long vanished; in other words, a lot of hot air. Here is where my assignment starts as “The Weight of a Mantle “is a real tool of Spiritual Empowerment. Let me explain while you scratch your head. In The biblical days a mantle was seen as a garment worn by those of the 5 Fold ministries to signify the position and authority of the wearer. According to the Prophet’s Dictionary, mantles also reflect the latitude, stature, as well as the license to act. A mantle dictates a way of communications with the bearer. In other words what is learned, practiced, and provided to the 5 Fold Ministry gift to equip and empower them for service to God. The distinction here is that The Mantle helps us perform in a more complete and confident manner in our gift. Now that I have laid a foundation, let’s look at why a Mantle would be heavy or lighter for some people. The weight of a Mantle may or may not be acceptable to us. I agree with many of you who feel that we all should be able to realize that fact, the reality is different, and we all don't realize it. Some how we have placed ourselves in positions of “see it”, “want it” and” got to have it”. Nothing else matters to us but our desire and we just can't imagine someone else may actually feel the same way about their mantle as we do ours. While that’s a novice thought that is so true in this day and age we live in. If we are going to carry a Mantle for a particular ministry office, it is incumbent upon the carrier of the Mantle to seek to improve him or herself in areas of empowerment of the gift administration. Some times we may see certain areas in others lives, but that does not automatically qualify us to Father or Mother them in The Lord. I find that you will never effectively parent someone in the Lord until they allow you. We are all adults and we make decisions based on what God has told us, and the reality of it is that your decision may or may not agree with someone whom you are connected to. Do I mean that sometimes we make decisions that our spiritual seniors don't agree with, yes all day long. The truth of the matter is they did also. This is a continual generational process of growth. Why are we so naive to this concept? A example of this in biblical days was Job and his wife (Job 2:9) His wife who told him to follow the custom of the day, to curse God and die. She did not understand his suffering and yet we see her in the same generation as Job, She was his life mate, as we say today. Imagine what differences we see in spiritual generations about how it ought to be done. One of God’s greatest Field Generals in my humble opinion was a man named Smith Wigglesworth. A plumber in the 1920’s who walked in a mantle unlike any of his day. His faith was so strong, that he actually threw a dead man against a wall 27 times until he “was revived”. What am I saying is that, can you imagine his critics, and the people around him who wanted to be developed in faith like he walked in but did not want to pay the price? They did not want to carry the weight of the Mantle, so they were unable to walk in that particular mantle. I find that anytime people see that “something”, they are attracted to it. I'm speaking about the “Anointing to do what needs to be done “when God mandates. That Anointing will cost many things. Most of us aren't willing to pay with our time, our money, as well as cut unholy and non prosperous spiritual relationships. How many times have we asked God for something only to find the cost and weight of what we asked to be too much? | This is a clear sign to me the weight of the Mantle may be too much at this time in one’s life. That's what most people will not tell you. They will invent excuse after excuse as to why the timing is not right, and a multitude of reasons why I know God told me this but not now. Tomorrow is not promised but we bank on it anyway. Somehow we forget that tomorrow will always be today when it arrives. We always look to tomorrow because we can keep our positions of prestige and defer our destiny until tomorrow. A tomorrow that never comes and a today we are unwilling to work in. Sound like anyone you know? When we prophesy to someone that they are a Prophet to the nations, what do they do? They hear the word, but they take no action. They truth is many times they have no clue on where to start, don't want advice, and somehow feel that God will put you in a Paul (3rd Heaven) or John(Isle of Patmos) experience and they will simply get caught up in a real life vision of the word that was spoken. Can that happen? Sure it can but they will need a Paul, John type relationship with God. When it does not happen in their prescribed time, they then find justifiable excuses on why it did not happen. The fact of the matter is that the mantle is not to be transferred to them on their terms but in God’s plan, as he sets the time, place, and mandate or mission. Sometimes the journey will be harder for some, and easier for others, but we seem to always want to be in comparison or competition mode and not the focus mode. Truth is we all have our cross to bear. Let’s look on the other side of the spectrum, we now have a mantle and we have those who feel you may or may not deserve the mantle. God may allow us to see something concerning a person and we may feel like this is not deserved by a person. We all have seen it, or been a victim of being proclaimed as someone who does not deserve it. They even want to say God says no to you, and the reality is , do you believe God says yes. Now whose report will you believe? Do you trust God enough in your relationship? Do you trust the voice you hear other than yours? Who do you trust? Once you settle that question you will understand the weight of your mantle and learn how to manage it. Remember Paul, who was not initially received among his Christian brethren? It was hard for them to accept him, the way he preached, and his zeal for God. They knew of his past, they saw him not in the ‘now’; they saw him in the then. God sees you in the now, the today, this moment through Jesus; so if you fall into this category then all the negative stuff you have heard should fuel you to greatness in God, as you stay in His presence. When you have a mantle or you believe that God has given you a mantle, it is your responsibility to develop it either through a sent mentor or experience. Most of us have a combination of both. The reality is that the weight of the mantle has to be balanced within our lives or we will not be able to carry it. When we fail, it does not mean that it’s over; it only means that we did not pass the test, and we need to get understanding on why we did not pass. I must pose the question to every reader of this blog, how important is it to you? How important is it to you to walk in your destiny, and not someone’s opinion? Will you move forward, not be a double minded servant, unstable but a focused, driven servant that God will trust with his overflow Anointing? When we get to heaven, I plan to make it my business to look Job up and ask him about this concept; I will be honored to be able to sit in his class on The Weight of a Mantle. God bless you all, and let’s look forward to a great ‘09 ending and more awesome 2010 than any of us can imagine. As always refer your comments to this website or email theprophetscox7@aol.com, I will respond as appropriate. In The Anointing Apostle Ken Cox
