Joyce Henderson, our featured vocalist, is from Chicago, IL, and has over 15 years of blues experience. She performed in Chicago with Chicago Blues Legend, Lamont Boston at "Wonderbar" Underground Blues Lounge; "Taildragger"; Johnny Drummond and his band at "Lee's Unleaded" blues club; Buddy Guy's, "Legends", with Handy Award Winner, Jimmy Burns.
Joyce came to Memphis in 2000 to visit, sang one song with Mr. Carl Drew, and has been here ever since. She has been the featured vocalist for The Carl Drew Blues Band for over six years and she has performed weekends with the band at B.B. King's blues club for over four years now. Her soul-wrenching vocals will grab you from the very moment she begins to sing and will have you on your feet.
Known as "The Diva" of Beale Street, Joyce belts out blues in styles similar to Koko Taylor, Aretha Franklin, and Katie Webster. Ms. Henderson is a "power" vocalist. When she takes the stage, it is all hers.
Joyce Performs with "The Carl Drew Blues Band" every Sunday at B.B. King's Blues Club on Beale Street from 2:00-6:00pm and with Joyce Henderson's Blues Machine every Monday night at The Executive Inn on the corner of Airways and Brooks Rd., in Memphis.
