2468 Diet

-The 2468 is an ‘anorexic diet’ - a diet plan which has emerged from the pro-anorexia online revolution for anorexics to use.

-It’s where you eat 200 calories on the first day, 400 calories on the second day, 600 calories on the third day, and 800 calories on the fourth day. This cycle is repeated through several times over.

-It causes rapid weight loss in most people because the drop from 800 calories to 200 calories boosts the metabolism.

-There are variations on the 2468, including 0246, 020406 and 02040608 - none of which are as successful as the original 2468 for weight loss.

-It should be noted that the 2468 is not a suitable diet plan for people who do not have anorexia or a similar eating disorder - it is highly unlikely to produce successful weight loss, and is extremely dangerous.

-The 2468 is very dangerous - more dangerous than ordinary anorexic restriction. The amount of calories is within the starvation range which causes muscle loss (rather than fat loss, which leads to heart failure and other problems), is likely to cause vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and causes the brain to set up cravings for high-calories foods which leads to binge-eating. Usually if someone is restricting their calories within the starvation range their metabolism slows significantly which makes the body store any food eaten as fat, slows weight loss and slows the pulse-rate/breathing-rate/etc so that the body uses the calories efficiently, and this process of slowing the metabolism often saves peoples lives. The 2468 however tricks the metabolism so weight loss continues and the metabolism is still high, and this increases the chances of organ failure and dangerously low body weight and the consequences of this.

Apple Diet

The idea of the apple diet came to the community from a troll - this troll claimed she lost around 60lbs on the apple diet, she claimed laxatives helped her lose all the weight (all weight loss from laxatives is water weight, and they’re dangerous if abused), and she also claimed she was a very low-weight anorexic (her supposed BMI was 14). Then she started saying "oh I can’t stop being sick" and stuff, and said she was losing weight really fast, and in about an hour and half she had supposedly lost about 12lbs and had reached her goal weight and had a BMI of about 12.

This should be evidence enough to show that the apple diet is really not a good idea! The physical dangers of the apple fast are: too rapid weight loss (a large proportion of weight loss would be muscle, organ, tissue, and bone, which dramatically increases chances of heart failure and other problems), the high concentration of acid in apples could damage the stomach, and you’d also be missing out on lots of important vitamins and minerals, particularly calcium, protein, and iron which would worsen all ED-symptoms, lead to massive binge-cravings, and increase the chances of various problems such as anaemia, osteoporosis, scurvy, etc.

Juice Fasts

A juice fast is when someone goes for a period of a few days only drinking fresh fruit juice, the theory being that less calories are absorbed from liquids and that the juices are 'cleansing'.

The calories from a juice fast are all absorbed - if they weren't all absorbed from liquids then a Big Mac could go in the blender for every meal! Juice isn't at all filling so you'd be taking in calories but feeling intense hunger. There is nothing special about juice that makes you lose weight, but you lose extra weight on a juice fast from water weight loss and from the small number of calories. The physical dangers of a juice fast are: too rapid weight loss (a large proportion of weight loss would be muscle, organ, tissue, and bone, which dramatically increases chances of heart failure and other problems), blood sugar spikes and drops, and you’d also be missing out on lots of important vitamins and minerals, particularly calcium, protein, and iron which would worsen all ED-symptoms, lead to massive binge-cravings, and increase the chances of various problems such as anaemia, osteoporosis, scurvy, etc.

Fruit & Veg Diet

This is quite simply where someone goes for a period of time eating just fruit and vegetables, the theory being they are all low-calorie and low-fat so you eat little overall calories.

The physical dangers of a fruit and veg diet are: too rapid weight loss (a large proportion of weight loss would be muscle, organ, tissue, and bone, which dramatically increases chances of heart failure and other problems), and you’d also be missing out on lots of important vitamins and minerals, particularly calcium, protein, and iron which would worsen all ED-symptoms, lead to massive binge-cravings, and increase the chances of various problems such as anaemia, osteoporosis, scurvy, etc.
