Modern Life

Music

Here are some Youtube video links of music which i loved. I will try to upload mp3's version of them when i have the time. Hope you enjoy the music (and the videos).

I only know of two methods to save these Web/YouTube Videos (which are basically Adobe flash video format; .FLV files) on your hard disk. The first is installing a browser plug-in program like PimpFish for Internet Explorer and Video Downloader or Mozilla addon for Firefox.

The second method is the one i am going to touch on as it is the easiest for anyone. It is using an online download service. The one i recommend is KeepVid. Just follow these simple steps:
(a) Open the video website (YouTube, Google Video, Yahoo Movies) of your desired video.
(b) Copy the web address of the video (the URL displayed in the browser's address bar).
(c) Click or right-click the KeepVid link above. A second browser or a second window will open.
(d) Paste the copied link in the box provided on the 'KeepVid' website.
(e) Click on the green 'Download' button on the 'KeepVid' website and voila, the link of your desired video will be shown below the 'Download bar'.
(f) Click on the '>>Download Link<<' link to download the file into a selected location on your hard disk and you are done.
(g) The final step is to rename the video you have downloaded (which is 'get_video' by default) and adding a ".flv" (without quotation) file extension at the end of the filename.
Note: KeepVid can save video clips in AVI and MPEG4 format too.

To watch the downloaded flash video, you can use the free (i) Adobe Flash Player or (ii) FLV player
In addition, these files can also be played using the open source and free Media Player Classic, which is an excellent media player.

Flash video is not the most common and popular video formats. Formats like MPEG, DivX or XviD (and not Microsoft Windows Media Video or even Apple's Quicktime format) are the ones compatible with almost every computers. To convert the flash videos to another format, use the open source video converter Any Video Converter. It is an easy-to-use and excellent converter, and it's free too unlike the much touted 'Total Video Converter', which is not really 'free' at all. Another good thing is you can even import and convert YouTube videos straight away.
