Giezentanner Boer Goat's is a small farm of just over 10 acres of land located a short distance from the city limits of Cookeville, Tennessee. It is centered between Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga and is easily accessible by several major highways, including I-40, Hwy 70, and Hwy 111, and just down the road from the Hyder-Burks Pavillion at TTU, where many Boer Goat and livestock shows are held. We have been raising Full SA Boer Goats since 2002 but eventually became interested in CODI/PCI Full South African Boer genetics, their size, and ease of care. In 2005 we purchased our first PREMIER Full CODI/PCI Boers goats and progressed to where we now only have FULL CODI/PCI Boer Goats in our herd. We try to blend our different bloodlines together to get the very best CODI kids available. We hope that by taking our time and doing things right, we can produce kids that are large, muscular, meet breed standards, and require as few medical inputs as possible. We constantly work to improve our knowledge of goat management and bloodlines to improve our herd. All of our breeding stock is registered with ABGA and USBGA. We operate a closed herd and try to raise breeding stock that is of show quality.
Our Management of this herd includes feeding hay in January and February Only. They are fed a small amount of 16% goat feed with Rumensin once a day as a supplement and have goat mineral blocks and fresh water available to them. They are wormed every 4-5 months and their hooves are clipped at that time. We rarely have to deal with ANY medical problems. I don't feed them out for show. The picture's show how they look under my management style. We think our goats look very good on very few inputs.
A little about me: I have worked fulltime for the Cookeville Police Dept. for the last 17+ years, where I am a Sgt. supervising on 2nd Shift. I also retired as a Staff Sergeant from the TN Army National Guard with 21.5 years of service between it and active duty in the Army and Navy. My 3rd (and last) military deployment was to Iraq from 2004-2005 with OIF III, where I did security on supply convoys.
