A SUCSESSFUL REHOMEING STORY

A TALE OF SECOND CHANCES

Meaghan was found along with 2 others (who sadley died)on the M1 near Barnsley by kind moterists who stopped the traffic to save her. She had been run over and was in a right state. She was taken to the vets and was rescued from a local pound by BAGSD Huddersfield members and i fostered her for only a week until her new home was found. Tracy who has become  a very good friend took Meaghan in where she lives now. I see Meaghan quite regular and take piccys of this special girl who melted a lot of hearts.

AGE ? ( A LADY NEVER TELLS)

OK then, I saw this programme on the square box in the corner the other night and thought if she can do it so can I, my life has definitely been more interesting than that Brigette Jones woman., she made a mint out of her diary and all she seemed to talk about was men and dieting – NOT A PROBLEM THAT WORRIES ME AT THE MINUTE.

Saturday 1 October 2005.

I’ve been here a week now, no more kennels for me YIPPEE.

Jo and Les are really nice which is a bit strange seeing as they are humans. Peggy was really nice too, so there must be a few of them out there that are not too bad.

Seem to have fallen on my feet here. Nice house, walkies, FOOD, my mate Freya and her dad Odin (Ooooh – he’s fit !!!, but don’t tell Freya I said that she’ll think I’m weird fancying her dad))`.

Anyway, I’m getting into a bit of a routine and liking life here so I think I’ll stick around, I just wish I knew what Jo was on about when she keeps talking about my new Mum. Don’t want one, don’t need one, happy as I am thank you very much.

So, 9.30 arrives, and this strange woman turns up. Jo says THIS is my new mum. Not interested I’m playing with Freya if you don’t mind. She’s got a shepherd with her too, seems alright I suppose, says her name is Lucy. So we all go for a walk and a trip to the Pet Shop, Jo takes loads of piccies of me and then I’m put into the back of a different car and Jo is waving at me. Wait a minute what’s going on?.Car’s started moving really boring, getting sleepy. I’ll worry about it later……………

So now we’ve stopped and the one called Lucy is bouncing around trying to get out. There’s a man and a couple of really little people waiting on the drive of a house, and a whopping big shepherd that looks like it’s got a bucket on it’s head. What’s all that about?. I think I had better stick close to the one Jo said was called Mum.

They are all giving me loads of fuss and attention, the one with the bucket is called Diesel, he says he doesn’t always look this daft but some nasty SoB has whipped his best bits away and they are hoping he won’t notice if they keep the bucket on him. Sounds dodgy if you ask me.

Lucy has got a strop on her. Says she didn’t realize I would be coming into the house and she would very much appreciate it if I just went away again as she is the queen around here. Told her I didn’t ask to be brought here and to take it up with mum if she didn’t like it.

Had my tea and an explore, decided to see what tomorrow brings.

Sunday 2nd October 2005.

Slept close to mum last night – does she always sleep on the sofa I wonder?. Lucy is still being a stroppy little madam. I decided to ask her nicely to play and she got quite shirty. So I thought whatever…….Had my breakfast and lunch without having to ask so I don’t think food

is going to be an issue. Got to know Diesel a bit better, they even took the bucket off for a bit and I had a bit of a play with him in the garden. He’s not bad actually, not such a dream boat as Odin but he’s funny and offered to show me round the place.

Mum is keeping an eye on me, making sure I am alright and the one they call Dad threw a ball in the garden for me.

The little people are nice. They keep giving me kisses, the bigger one is called Alex he keeps showing me all his toys, but I don’t think I’m meant to play with them as well.

Hey guess what? There is a strange thing in this house called Sunday Dinner. Roast Beef – how come I’ve never had that for my tea before?, and how come my normal dinner doesn’t taste like this. I want more !!!.

Decided to be sociable to Lucy again seeing as I was so happy after tea. She got shirty again so I thought stuff it and had a go back. Mum shouted at us both so I went and sulked in the glass room and snotty cow followed me and plonked herself down on the rug by my side. She said it was my fault mum had told her off. I said whatever. She was the one who got stroppy first!. Anyway then she started to tell me about the fact that she was special because she had been in a dog show and got a rosette, and I said well that my friend Freya has been in lots of shows and got lots of rosettes and she’s not snobby. That made her think I can tell you. So at bed time when mum headed up to bed she asked me if I wanted to share her quilt and I thought let bygones be bygones and snuggled down (Closer to mum this way but don’t tell Lucy).

Monday 3rd October 2005.

Guess what? the snobby dog wants to play with me. So, I’m like whatever, I’m gonna make her suffer for being such a cow to me yesterday. I’ll go play with Diesel instead that’ll show her. Mum’s running round a bit this morning don’t know what she’s up to. She gave us our breakfast then Elliot gave me some stuff he called ‘poddidge’ all gooey but nice. She’s in the bathroom now so I’ll go see what she’s doing. Urrgh note to self, shoving your head under the curtain over the bath is liable to give you a wet head. Hang on a sec I think she’s going out. Without me !!..Now this isn’t on. Quick consult with Diesel about this turn of events. He says it’s normal and she’ll be back later on. Ooh what’s Alex got?. That looks interesting. I’ll worry about mum a bit later on.

Dads getting ready to go out now and it looks like he’s taking the little people with him. Darn it I was enjoying playing cars. He’s telling us to be good and that he won’t be long mmmmmmmmm. After he’s gone I ask Diesel what we do next ‘cos I’m still not speaking to HER. Diesel says we just chill out on the sofas until Dad gets back. I can do that, move over Diesel – shift that bucket it’s digging in my bum.

Whoops he’s back already, hiya Dad. If I wag my tail and look cute I may be OK.

The high and mighty stroppy one is really creeping now. She keeps nibbling my paws and begging, yes begging, me to play. Oh go on then just for a bit…………..Heaven’s is it lunch time already?. Hang on a sec Lucy I want to finish my biscuits before you show me the digging patch. OK give me a break, Dad says he’s going to get Elliot, I need a snooze where’s that sofa?.

Mum’s back, gotta tell her all about my day, out of the way boys I’m coming through…..

Well what a day I’ve had. It’s all quiet now, the little people are in bed, my bellies full again and I’m snuggling on the sofa with my mum watching that funny square box in the corner.

I’ve had a quick walkies with Mum and Lucy, not too far Mum said because I’m in season and she doesn’t want to advertise the fact to all the local romeos. Odin where are youuuuuuu?

Bed time thank god.

Tuesday 4 October 2005

Mum hasn’t gone out this morning. She says work will have to wait today ‘cos she feels yeucky. I’ll just creep up on the bed and give her a kiss to make her feel better and then I’m off outside because me and Lucy have things to do. I’ve bet her I’m quicker than she is so we are having a race and the winner gets to bite the others bum !! Not bad eh? Bet I win……….

Mum, mum I’ve won I got to bite her bum………….ooh wait a minute the front doors open lets see what’s out there. Is that Alex shouting? he sounds a bit worried why?. Oh I can hear Mum now , she’s calling me too. So what do I reckon then ? open road or Mum and Dad and the little people? Coming Mum what’s for breakfast?. Want a game of footie Dad?. Hey Lucy want a rematch?

Wednesday 5 October 2005.

Mum’s gone to work again today. Never mind I’ve got the garden and Lucy and Diesel to keep me occupied ‘til she gets back.

Oohh wait a minute Alex has got my lead. Am I coming then? where are we going.? CAR !! Yippee.

Loads and loads of little people. Is this where you hide out during the day then Alex?. I like little people especially when they give me biccies and sweeties and sticky kisses. Ok Dad says I’ve got to sit here on my bestest behaviour while he tells the little people all about me, and why I’ve got bald patches and stuff. I think they make me look funky so there. See Lucy I’m special too.

Dad keeps ringing Mum at work to tell her my ear is up. she says she wants a photo, so I put it down again quick. I can keep this game going for ages. Ear up, camera out, ear down, camera away. And again.

My favourite time of the day has got to be now, when the curtains are drawn, and the boys are in bed and Mum and Dad are on the sofas. And we all sneak up and have a cuddle. And I can snooze and think of Peggy, and Jo and Les and how nice they were to me. I’ll give them all a big kiss in my dreams. AND ODIN, Oh Yes pucker up big boy !!!!
