Bankside at Twilight 2005

I took these images of 'Bankside' an industrial area not too far from my house, one of the more desolate parts of Hull mid September. Sunsets weren't what I was expecting, but that's what I got. It was about 7.30pm ish when I took these shots.

Both these images are as is, no cropping or fiddling about. I was really pleased with the results. With hindsight, it's a shame I didn't have a tripod with me, would have been interesting to see some images taken later, but the light was failing and I wouldn't have been able to take good handheld images.

Bankside - Industrial landscapes 2005

I took these images alongside my 'Bankside Sunsets', just a few minutes further up the road near the Junction of Air Street and Bankside. On one side of these walls you have the River Hull, on the other wastelands.

The image below is of the River Hull, with some of the Industry of Bankside in the background. It's only a shadow of what it used to be, there are large empty areas full of weeds where there used to be factories.

Fascade - September 2005

Here are a few images I took around my place of work, which although it has a modern fascade it also has a pre war industrial exterior which indicates the true age of the building. Most of what you see in the first image is post 1950, the cladding disguising the outside staircase and the wall is very recent, as is the building in the foreground - a 'Science Park' where once there was a large warehouse.

The two images below are close to my place of work. Not a pretty sight, I feel sorry for the residents of the houses close by. Note the microwave mobile phone mast in the background of the 2nd image.

The Deep - September 2005

I've been meaning to visit 'The Deep' ever since it opened, but never quite got around to it until now. Fortunately, I chose a good day to visit. It was quiet, only one school trip to contend with, so I was able to take my time looking at the exhibits and the interactive displays. I wasn't sure I'd get any decent images due to the low level of lighting and the no flash policy in the building, but I surprised myself.

These images were taken in a well lit, shallow lagoon tank.

The following images were taken in the big main tank which is visible on all the floors of the exhibit and isn't very well lit.

This is one of my favourite images, taken in one of the smaller jellyfish tanks.

Wintery scenes at dawn - Late November 2005

The following images were taken just after 7.00am on my way to work. They are of a part of Hull, very close to my house called 'Rockford Field'. The light was poor when I took these, the camera shake warning on my camera was flashing, so I was rather pleased that I achieved these results. Absolutely no manipulation other than cropping to get the desired composition.
