The AAIA and the thank-you letter
|
I'm so happy that we have supported the Native American cause! The Association on American Indian Affairs is a fantastic organization and I am very proud to say that we were able to give them a check for $5000. Here is the transcript of the letter I received from them thanking us for the donation:
Dear Bethany,
On behalf of the Association on American Indian Affairs, I would like to express our heartfelt thanks for your (Johnny Depp Fan Club's) generous donation of $5000.
As always, your tax-deductable contribution supports Native American efforts to address critical issues including, child welfare, human rights, tribal sovereignty and religious freedom.
The Association on American Indian Affairs continues to advocate issues identified nationally by Native American leaders, as the most beneficial to Indian people throughout the United States. Please remember our organization's important mission when considering how to personally help.
With your continued support our important work will continue.
Thanks again for all you do!
With warm regards, Jack F. Trope

Transcript:
The Association on American Indian Affairs recentley received a donation in the amount of $5000 from the Johnny Birthday Project in honor of Johnny Depp's 41st birthday. The project's founder, 18 year old Beth Hankes contacted AAIA in April informing us of their intent. AAIA was selected by the project participants at the suggestion of AAIA member Carol Bauchop, as a tribute to Johnny's Cherokee heritage and because of the great need of Native Americans. A website was established, where 370 fans from 12 different countries and 38 states purchased t-shirts and printed items that Beth created, although the majority of the money came through cash donations. Due to the fans' generosity Beth's original goal of $250 was quickly passed. AAIA is greatful to to have been selected to receive this generous donation. This support allows us to continue our work in vital areas such as language and cultural preservation, youth programs, scholarships, health, sovereigncy, sacred land protection and religious freedom. Thanks again, Beth and Carol.
