DEFINITE PROJECTS: 

Secret Window, Secret garden: Johnny has just finished filming this movie in Quebec, Canada (the filiming dates were July- mid-October).  This is based on the Steven King novel of the same name, and Johnny plays Mort Rainey, an author who recently went through a divorce and is hiding out in a remote lakeside house. One day a psycotic stranger, John Shooter appears at his door, accusing Mort of stealing his short story.    THIS IS DUE FOR RELEASE IN APRIL 23RD 2004. 

Neverland: This biopic about J.M.Barrie was filmed from June- August 2002 in England. Johnny plays James Matthew Barrie the author of Peter Pan and the film focuses on the time in his life when he met Sylvia Llewelyn Davies (Kate Winslet) and her 4 sons- who inspired him to write Peter Pan, the boy who wouldnt grow up. The screenpaly is based on the play "The Man who was Peter Pan" and also stars Julie Christie, Dustin Hoffman and Radha Mitchell. THIS IS DUE FOR RELEASE IN OCTOBER 8TH 2004.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: Filming for this remake of Roald Dahl's famous children's book is commencing in 2004, and several actors are being considered for the role of Willy Wonka, including Christopher Walkern and Michael Keaton. After the sucess of POTC however, Johnny is considered as the front runner for the role, and is very interested in the part. The producer of the film has said that a deal with Johnny hasnt been made yet, but it looks good for a June 2004 start to filming with him. THIS IS DUE FOR RELEASE IN JUNE 2005

 



Rumoured Projects

The man who killed Don Quixote: This is about a modern-day advertising executive Toby Grosini (Johnny), who is transported back in time and meets Don Quixote. Filming began in 2000 in Spain with Johnny, Jean Rochefort and Vanessa Paradis, but problems arose, including the ill-health of Rochefort. The documentary "Lost in la Mancha" followed the cast and crew during shooting from the planning to the winding-up of production. If the funding to restart the project is completed, Johnny has agreed to carry on doing it.

The Libertine: This is based on the play by Steven Jeffreys and tells the true story of John Wilmot, Earl of Rochester, a confidant of Charles II and a whoremonger, drunkard and charmer in a morally corrupt society, with Johnny playing Rochester. If funding is found, filming will begin in December 2003 in England, but it has not been confirmed that Johnny has signed for this role.

The Rum Diary: This is an adaptation of Hunter.S.Thompson's semi-autobiographical novel, which cronicles Paul Kemp's time spent as a journalist in Puerto Rico in 1950s. However, Josh Harnett is the only confirmed cast member.

Pirates of the Caribbean 2: After the huge success of "Pirates of the Caribbean, The Curse of the Black Pearl", Disney is planning a sequel and the principal cast members (Depp, Rush, Bloom and Knightley) have indicated that they would be interested in a sequel if the script was good enough.

Paris Je t'aime: This is a tribute to Paris, with different directors filming their fav districts of the city. Johnny Depp was reportedly filming the 3rd district, using french actors Jean Rochefort and Annie Giradot and was due to be filmed in Jan/Feb 2003. No more recent news has been heard about this project but it is said to have a release date of Spring 2004.

Ozzy Osbourne biopic: This biopic is about the life of the rocker and Black Sabbath frontman, Ozzy Osbourne was first mentioned in 2002. Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy's wife said that she wanted Johnny to play the role and in August 2003 Johnny said he would be interested in playing the part.

Comments: This film will be a fictitious account of the life of Gong Show host Chuck Barris (Depp), who reportedly was also a CIA hitman. Financing for this film has fallen apart and it will possibly be shelved.
