SITE UPDATE

This site is dead. It has not been updated in almost 3 years. I am guessing that nobody really gives a crap either way, since this site has only received 9,000+ hits since January of 2005,  but I just stumbled back over the old site tonight and thought I'd make it official. I myself haven't been on this site since December 2005 and had forgot it even existed. One of the publishers thought I should have a web pressence and this was my pathetic attempt and getting one up and running. And, since it is a free service, nobody at freewebs will tell me how to just delete the whole thing and make it go away.

Anyway, I am keeping a current online blog at www.johnhubby.blogspot. But it has nothing to do with my writing, which has been put on a back burner the last few years, and deals more with friends/family/exercise and the rare book or movie review.

In regards to my writing, it was something I was always good at, or at least was told I was good at, and I enjoy it still.  I plan on writing more in the future and will someday, hopefully, complete the novel I started back in 2006. It is about a quarter finished, 28,000 words, but I haven't touched it in 2+ years. I just don't have time anymore.

And I don't have any regrets. I gave writing a full year of effort. I stayed up late almost every night and I went to work tired almost every morning. In 12 months I had roughly 25 poems and short stories accepted by publishers. I was put in anthologies, chapbooks, magazines, etc. One of my stories got into an anthology with Brian Keene (one of my favorite writers) and another was put into a collection published by Stephen King's company. I had fun and met neat people. However, in all total I made approximately $650. If I didn't have a REAL job I would have gone broke and died of starvation. Writing is/was a passion of mine but it is/was still just a hobby at this point in my life. I respect anyone who makes a living doing it.
