John Bell was a loving and much loved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was born in Hebburn and lived there all of his life except for his time on active duty during World War II.
He was my father and he wrote his memoirs in 1990 before he became ill. I have cherished his handwritten memoirs for many years and am now sharing them with you as a tribute to him and my late mother, Lilla.
I have not altered his original handwritten memoirs in order to retain their character so you are able to better understand the kind of man he was.
He was a truly strong, kind and modest man and I hope you find his life story enlightening and inspirational as I, his daughter, did.
