Penrhyn Garden Railway

Locos

Glyn

'Glyn' & its battery waggon pose on Bangor Road Level Crossing

'Glyn' is currently the only loco that is permanently based at the railway, it is quite clearly a steam-outline model of the Glyn Valley Tramway locomotive 'Glyn'. This battery-electric 0-4-2, is a detailed model, which we believe was constructed by Dave Yates. It is trailed by a G.V.T Granite waggon that contains the leisure batteries that power the loco. Currently the loco is under conversion that will allow the driver to drive it remotely.

Meg

'Meg' takes the sanding train out on the morning of the first open day

'Meg' is a 2008 built Ride on Railways 'Hercules' fitted with a shunter body and named after one the railway's owners previous dogs. Very well suited to the railway as it is promised to be a good puller.

Visiting Locos

Conway Castle

'Conway Castle' is a 0-4-0 battery-electric believed to be a mark 2 Maxitrack 'Simplicity' and is owned by Harry Saville. It looks likely that the loco will be a regular visitor, as its owner is a regular volunteer on the project.

Coronation

Another of Harry Saville's locos, this one's a Maxitrak 0-4-0 'Coronation' class. It is also expected that it shall be a regular visitor.

Tinker

'Tinker' is a 0-4-2ST with tender steam loco which visited the 17/08/08 open day and is owned by Simon's Miniature Railway.

SMR 'Trojan' class

This Ride on Railways 'Trojan' class is also owned by Simon's Miniature Railway and visited at the same time as 'Tinker', it had only just recently been re-painted by A.M.E prior to its visit.

SMR Railcar

This A.M.E railcar is again owned by Simon's Miniature Railway and visited at the same time as their other locos, sadly it couldn't operate on the Sunday of the open day due to problems with the mounting of the controller.

Stock

G.V.T Granite Waggon No.123

This is near enough a scale model of one of the Glyn Valley Tramway's 4 ton granite waggons, the lettering is certainly very pretty, and is rather appropriately numbered 123! Currently it's used as 'Glyn's' battery waggon, and is fitted with side buffers, but these can be removed to reveal a centre buffer making it more prototypical.

Redhill Brickworks Waggon/Coach

A freelance sit inside bogie coach, made to look like an open bogie waggon, lettered 'REDHILL BRICKWORKS'. These coaches are rather awkward to sit in.

G.V.T Guard's Van No.9

This guard's van is very close to being a scale model of the Glyn Valley Tramway's guard's van. It is fitted with a foot brake, and the roof is removable. P.G.R stands for 'Penrhyn Garden Railway', which is one of the Joys of Life Railway's past titles.
