The Joys of Life Railway is a 600 yard long, 5in gauge ground level miniature railway in the Bethesda area of North Wales. On this website we hope to provide you with information on the railway, along with videos & photographs of it. The railway closed around 2000, but has recently been revived by a team of volunteers, who have worked hard to return the railway to a good condition so that they can run trains on the line. Some of the features of the railway include, a low-set engine shed giving a realistic shed area, semaphore signalling controlled by a lever frame(currently undergoing restoration), a level crossing, a passing loop, a tunnel, ending in a balloon loop consisting of two high level bridges. Please explore and enjoy the site, we hope to occasionally update it with major developments, other developments will be posted on our 'Latest News' blog to be found HERE.
The Joys of Life (the railway's location) provides high-quality Self-Catering and Bed & Brekfast accommodation in North West Wales, and also operates a Caravan Club 'Certified Location' site.
