National Transportation Safety Board

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) #DCA01MA060 provides the offical flight path and altitude of American Flight 11 from Boston Logan Airport to the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. At 8:38, Flight 11 was at an altitude of 28,000 feet, approximately 27,500 feet higher than the point at which it is reported to have hit WTC 2 when it made a left (apparently flight 11 was flying backwards!) turn toward New York City. This was 8 mnutes 40 seconds before its reported collsion with WTC 1. At 8:43:30, according to the NTSB, Flight 11 made a left turn while at about 10,000 feet.

According to the NTSB, Flight 11's trip ended at 8:46:40. The graph of the fight's altitude shows a fairly steep descent.

NTSB also shows the flight path  American flight 11 went essentially straight after the gradual turn at 8:43:30. No hard banking turns. At 400 miles per hour the 3 minutes after the last turn would have permnitted the aircraft to cover just about 21 miles.

FOX news reporting

Fox News affiliate WNYW interviewed a man from Hoboken NJ calling himself "Jim Friedl." The YouTube video may be seen here. Jim reported being in a building ("I looked out the window") from where he could see the WTC towers.

Jim describes the "plane" as a large plane that was flying low and banking very hard. He said it just "drove" right through the World Trade Center Tower.

The WNYW talking head (TH), apparently also called "Jim" (actually FOX WNYW Jim Ryan) leads the witness to say that "it looked deliberate."  Jim the witness says he can't say "that" but that "it was a very odd type of turn." After the interview, TH Jim says that witness Jim said, maybe on purpose.  Witness Jim did not say that.

Despite being across the Hudson river looking through a window, Jim the witness was able to say that the plane (a large one - like a 727) was headed directly toward the building. Jim the TH once again leads Jim the witness, describinmg the turn, now, as "heavily banked," "ah, pretty heavily banked, making maybe 45 degrees."

Jim the witness reports that you could see debris flying out the other side. Considering his vantage point (Hoboken), that is pretty remarkable. Jim the TH then suggests the plane went right through the tower.

Jim the witness does not report hearing the plane. He describes the "sound" as a large explosion . Interestingly, he does not mention the debris coming out the "hit side" which can be seen in the Naudet brothers film. The "persian kitty" shown here is from the Naudet brothers video. If you look carefully, you will see that our kitty is also made up of other animated characters. Look at kitty's left, just above kitty's cheek. Is that Walt himself looking toward the sky?

Jim the TH describes the subsequent view as coming from "our chopper" which is strange as the camera is truly fixed and, like many shots that day, there is no sound. The TH fixates on whether or not the strike was on purpose or not.
