I WILL ALWAYS LOVE MY CATS!
First off I should mention the other Himalayas who have been part of my life for the past 15 years. Right from when I first saw a Himalayan cat I fell in love with the breed. We were living on a farm at the time and decided to purchase a male and female and have them breed. The kittens at that time were worth $100 AUS. It all sounded too easy, let the two do what cats do and sell the kittens. Well, it wasn't exactly that easy!. When I bought Mudder as a kitten I was told I should wait till she was at least eight months old before breeding with her. Plus at that time I couldn't for the life of me, find a male kitten in our area. So it was almost twelve months before I found another breeder who had a male kitten that I could buy. Mudder by then had grown into a gorgeous little cat! She was so dainty and a true little lady, but she was never a hands on cat, well unless she wanted to be. No she didn't start out with that name, she just kind of grew into it. At first we called her Sissy but because she became such a wonderful little mother to all the kittens she produced my daughter Stacey (who at the time was only eight) use to say "she a really good mudder, isn't she mummy?"So it just kind of stuck. She was a good mother too. Very protective and attentive. She gave birth to 5 litters of kittens, most of the time 4 kittens per litter. Unfortunately I lost Mudder only a couple of months ago. She was almost 15 when she passed away.'Rest In Peace My Little Mudder'.
Ruphert was the first male Himalayan I bought to breed with Mudder. He was a seal point and just beautiful! He was a huge cat and if he hadn't have been hit by a car he would have produced the most gorgeous kittens!! Even though I'd seen for myself how other breeders kept their cats in large cages, I just couldn't do that. We kept Mudder and Ruphert in the house most of the time but they just loved climbing the trees and running around the farm. The morning Ruphy was killed I just knew something bad was going to happen. I'd just got home from dropping the kids off at school when my partner broke the news to me. I was only gone no more than 15 mins, and now my gorgeous Ruphy was gone! 'Rest In Peace My Beautiful Ruphert'
I thought I'd share with everyone the reason I smile every day. His name is Tiger and he's a five year old chocolate point Himalayan cat. He's the half brother of my beloved Leo who was unfortunately killed by a car after escaping through a window that was mistakenly left open wide enough for him to squeeze through. I missed Leo so much I just had buy another kitten. So I went to the same lady from which I bought Leo and she had a litter of kittens that would be ready for new homes in just one week. There was five kittens in the litter all completely gorgeous and adorable, however, Tiger was the one who came running over to me and totally stole my heart!
That week seemed to take forever to pass until I could pick up my new little mate! He was only six weeks old a bundle of fluff, energy and mischief!! He loved and still loves climbing!! My flyscreen door shows that just how much....unfortunately!I don't think there's a day that goes by without him doing something that makes me laugh and make me love him even more, if that's possible! He also makes a complete mess of the house with all his hair, but I've put up with that ONLY draw back that owning a long hair cat comes with. It use to send my son and daughter insane, cat hair all over their clothes...cat hair on the floor....cat hair on the furniture....cat hair everywhere!! I remember Stace's famous last words before she moved into her own place, "I'll never have a cat in my own place!!" hmmmm come to think of it, my son Mick said the same.....guess what?....yes, both have cats....lolol
Well that's about all for now, I've got so many funny times to share with you about Tiger's antics, but I'll leave that for another time. :)Cheers Joá
