Featured Female Past Winners New Arrivals Email- jldshorthorns@yahoo.ca JLD Shorthorns is a small herd located in Alberta, Canada. I breed 100% purebred shorthorn cattle. When selecting cattle I try my best to find the highest quality animals. I try to cull hard, weeding out all the cattle that I find aren't satisfactory. Although new to having registered shorthorn cattle, I am very familiar with the beef breed, what is acceptable in cattle and what is not. I have been involved in 4-H for numerous years and have done particularly well in the judging section. As a senior member I have gotten 1st place in judging for three consecutive years.

I show a few select cattle over the summer months. This summer (2006) I plan on showing Eionmor Ideal Lily 9R. This is a very feminine showy, smaller framed heifer, but where she lacks frame she more than compensates for it in depth, udder development and legs. This fall I may be entering a steer calf into a prospect steer show and sale. JLD Klondike 17S is something incredible that will have optimal feed conversion. The only reason this calf is a steer is because he is much too broad in the shoulders to be used on any cattle, but I think this boy will place on the top of any steer class.
