Here's the plan ...
(A larger map is available by clicking here)
The GREEN route shows the start of the trip. From the UK, across the Bay of Biscay to Spain. Down the coast to the southern tip of Portugal, then across to the Canaries. From here the first 'serious' trip, around 20 days to Antigua in the Caribbean. From here we will spend some time cruising the Caribbean before proceeding through the Panama Canal.
After this it's island hoping across the Pacific all the way to Australia. We are hoping this will take around 12 months, and we can arrange for a secondment from work to Sydney for 2 years on our arrival in Australia.
After two years of living the Ozzy lifestyle (and replenishing funds!) its time to head home (on the RED route). Up the east coast of Australia, over the Bali, and around Indonesia and Thailand. Then across to Sri Lanka, before heading down to the Maldeaves and then across to Madagascar. From here its a short hop to South Africa, and around to Cape Town. Then its up to the coast of Africa, and back to the Canaries via the Cape Verde Islands. Then its back upto Spain, across the Bay of Biscay and back to Blighty!
Hopefully the return trip should also take around 12 months, bringing us home in 2012 (just in time for the British Olympics!)
Sounds much longer written down than it did in my head!!
