Homemade 300d Remote

Build your own remote for your Canon 300d (Digital Rebel) camera!

I didn't want to order a RS60-E3 remote for $30, so I decided to build my own. Here is the basic pinout for the remote. If you wanted to get fancy, you could find a 2-position switch like the RS60-E3 has. I used a toggle switch for the focus, and a locking/momentary pushbutton for the shutter. When doing long exposures, you only need to press (and lock) the shutter button (switch #2), and then release it when you are done. Easy as using a cable on an old 35mm SLR!

Completed Remote.

Here is what the completed remote looks like. It cost me a total of $8 to build with parts from Radio Shack, and from my junk box. It works very well, and saved me lots of $$!
