For anyone who isn't familiar with the basics of a Base Race, it is simply having a list a bases and dolling on them! You get to choose what you doll and how you use the base, as long as you use it in whatever you create. It's pretty spiffy actually, challenging because of the racing part, the first three done usually get an award, and it definitely helps hone your skills :) This base race had a total of 50 bases, and was my first experience with them, I definitely did not finish, I only got to 23, but I got some of my favorite dolls out of it, so it was worth it!
Some dolls were rushed and reeeaaally are close to being embarrassing, but ah well *shrugs*
So here they are! All 23 of my base race creations!
2. I made the clock and then found this quote and voila! She has her knees up against her chest, but you can't really tell *shrugs* The quote is a Scottish proverb. :) (Lost the base link! If you know it, please send it to me!!)
Doubled as a Palette Contest entry. She's a little jump rope girl I named Daisy ^_^ So cute!! | Doubled as an Evil Disney Contest entry; you had to take a character from a list of Disney movies and turn them evil, so I did Cinderella with her bloody kitchen knife and evil mice friends ;) She turned out SOO well!! *proud* |
Doubled as mine and Juno's "Picnic Date" collab for WTM!?'s Birthday Event. I dolled Juno, and she dolled me (click to see finished collab) (Juno drew the table, I shaded it) | Doubled as a Copy-Cat Contest entry, hosted by through.glass, where we had to doll her characters, or re-do the dolls she already had of them, etc etc. So I did a polaroid of her and the guy she likes (I think he's a band member *shrugs*) and yea... I like the red text, cause it looks like an actual marker wrote it ;) |
She's a tightrope walker! *proud* CLICK ME for full doll (linked out for prop size)
It's a 50s chick ^_^ Totally random idea, semi gone right ;P
As soon as I saw the base I thought of her listening to a conch shell! I really wish I could have pulled the shell off better but oh well, lol, at least you can tell what it is (hopefully lol) ;P | Doubled as my first contest example :) It's me back in 12th grade, working at YaYa's, my first job ever ^_^ |
First off, let me say this doll was rushed
15.![]() | 16. I remember seeing these colors together and thinking "Oo Idea" lol (base credit: Nevermore site gone) |
She's a squirrel!! I love squirrels ^_^ Too cute! *happy dance* | 18. I doubled this as a contest entry for a Food Contest (lost the link *poo*) and Cheez-Its rock my socks etc etc. Self Explanitory. :P (base credit: Symphony of Dreams site gone) |
It's Justice! :) I hope I don't need to explain further... 0.o | Doubled as a Bead Theme "Fantasy" for the Festival of Fools at CC. Random fairy so cute and also so rushed! |
I'm cranky in the morning until I get my caffeine fix *scratches neck* lol so I made this for WTM!? hehe | CLICK ME to see the doll full size. This doll was also doubled as an entry for a Purple Palette Contest, I found the wings and thought they fit well with the base :) (Wing Lineart: Shirley's Dollz) |
It's Luigi from Mario!!! He was always my favorite ^_' *pinches little doll cheeks* |
