N2NXZ 10 Meter Propagation Beacon

Amateur Radio/Wind turbine

Here are photos of some old radio stuff I have had laying around

This equipment was given to me by KA2WBO.It was built originally by K2YCO in the 1960 era.All home brew 2/6 meter AM transceiver. One of the few operating here in the Rochester,NY region of that time.KA2YCO is now silent key and his call now is used by his grandson. It is a privilege to have it in my possesion.Anyone with more information on this radio, please email me.I have no clue on where to start if it was to be ever used again. The microphone was also with the rig.

This antenna was also given to me by KA2WBO.I will certainly find a use for it.Very nicely built.Thank you Larry.

BC-AR-430

This transmitter was given to me about 10 years ago from a elderly gentleman while I was working on his home.He obtained it during his services in WW2.I wish I remembered his name. There was also another similar transmitter but was lost in my moving over the years. These were used in aircraft such as B-17 or B-29 and maybe others.I am sure there is a use for it somewhere in the future. As you can see the frequency range on the tag.Unfortunately,I dropped one of the tubes and the glass is broken :(( It holds 4 tubes.A pair of VT-52`s and a pair of VT-25-A`s.Once again,if anyone has used these and have any information, email me.

UPDATE 09-23-09 -

This transmitter has a new home.It was sent to WU2D who has an interest in these rigs.I am grateful it will be used for amateur radio.Good luck and have fun with it Mike !

My old Silvertone shortwave AM radio (1935)?

Had this thing quite awhile purchased at an estate sale for 50$.Great condition and works very well.I was interested with the POLICE band @ 2.5mhz.There are reasons that band is no longer used for that purpose. When I see that,I think of Andy Griffith`s squad car antenna.I had read that in those days, when a call for a robbery and such were transmitted, the signals tend to travel long distances.Makes it tough on law enforcement if half the country is responding to a bank robbery on MAIN ST.Google it :))

Heathkit SG-8 Signal generator

Another item that was given to me.Works, but the sensitivity and stability sucks.Fun toy and collectable.

SIGNAL CORPS. BC-348-Q

This is already on my website somewhere.Great radio and receives like no other.500khz - 18mhz.Another great deal.50$These were also used in B-29 and B-17`s.I love these old radios.

Heathkit SB-200

This amplifier was also somewhere on my site. This was found in a dumpster sitting right on top in great condition.I find myself very lucky to obtain items people just toss out.For those of you who are familiar with guitar amps.I also found a MIG100 / 100 Watt tube amp on the curb.Russian equivalent to a Marshall JCM800.Worked when it was tested and sounded great.Something let go,it will be repaired.I may add a music page soon.

RC J3 Piper Cub .46 K&B sportster motor

One day she will fly again.I made some mistakes on the last flight. It looks worse than it is.Easily repaired. This plane took a hard nose dive.I cant believe it looks this good still. That was a long time ago.I have way too many hobbies, but it WILL be repaired. If you like a J3 Cub,I would suggest the Carl Goldberg anniversary kit.Lots of work to build it,worth every second. The paint scheme was an idea to use an actual J3 photo of WW2.That was before Windows and internet.Long time was spent looking through library books.

Here are non-digital photos of the plane when it was fresh in 1995.

Sadly, the pilot is no longer with me. Or is he?

Bonus photo>

This is Josh Harel.Very nice model builder who sent me a photo of his own model Jet kit.I do not know if he still has kits.He specializes in large scale.Unfortunately, this aircraft was destroyed on its maiden flight. This was powered by the ducted fan motors. Most likely an OS .91.Those things screamed. Now they are using actual turbine jet engines.Check you tube.Very cool stuff.Look up B-52 RC jet...incredible ! I remember going to a jet rally in Belleville Ontario Canada and saw an early turbine prototype.I was hooked on RC ever since.I have a long video of that rally.Need VHS to DVD :)
