Jim Guittard

Also known as The Notorious G.I.D.D. (2007)

Biography:

Mr. Guittard has been a rambler in pursuit of happiness living in places like Gunnison, Colorado, Dallas, Texas, and Hollywood, California. He now lives in the cozy town of Pernik in Bulgaria where he is documenting his life by writing songs and a semi-autobiographical script.

Mr. Guittard has been involved with music to some degree since the age of eleven. In middle school, he followed his father's path and began to play the trombone. After three years of school band, in his freshmen year at Highland Park High School, he took up the guitar after admiring Wes Cunningham's playing at pep rallies and half-time during football games.

During his high school days, Mr. Guittard was a dreamer, not really digging school too much, especially Chemistry. During tests, he often could not concentrate because of George Harrison guitar solos going off in his head. He did make his way out of high school with a good guitar collection and a diploma.

In 1992, he enrolled at Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado. There he majored in American History and minored in Political Science. During college, Mr. Guittard played the Bass Trombone in jazz bands and recorded songs on his 4-track. In 1996, he graduated and made his way back to Dallas, Texas to search for a job. He landed a job adjusting insurance claims. He sat at a cubicle talking on the phone most of the day. If you've seen the movie "Office Space" then you know the environment. That was it.

After much thought, he moved to Hollywood, California to study at a music school. In California, he formed a group called the Ragas with son of the Byrds's founder Roger McGuinn. Henry McGuinn and Jim named it the Ragas in tribute to the style of music that emerged on the Byrds album "5D." It was also a tribute to Raga Royalty Ravi Shankar. The Ragas gigged around at clubs on the Sunset Strip, coffee houses, and at the beach. The duo went their separate ways and called it quits.

After the Ragas, Mr. Guittard became more involved in the Brian Jonestown Massacre scene in Silverlake, California playing guitar in the Belle Isle and for the Andy McCutcheon band with his brother Bob.

After some time with the Andy McCutcheon band, Mr. Guittard moved back to Texas. He worked at low key places and applied to go teach English overseas. He now lives near Sofia, Bulgaria where he documents his life by writing songs and autobiographical works. He can be reached through this website or at his myspace.
