SEPTEMBER 27th, 7 PM -1998
Bizarre incidents had been occurring all over Raccoon City. The outbreak occurred quickly, and before we knew it the city was infested with zombies. We have gathered a large force of survivors at the police station composed of civilians, police officers, and refugees. The S.T.A.R.S. were to attack the umbrella research mansion via chopper, and the rest of the survivors were to hold the blockade around the police station as long as possible. I, Captain Joe Vazquez, was to lead the defense.
We commenced the operation. We were all well armed and well equipped. It all seemed quiet while we waited for the zombies in the street. But we were not fooled…They all came at once. It looked like a huge lifeless mob hungry for flesh. “Fire, Fire at will!”, I shouted. We began shooting. Many zombies fell, but they kept getting back up. They kept coming. We could not hold for long. Other officers shouted. “Come and get it!” “Don’t give up. GO! GO! GO!” “Don’t hold back!” “They’re everywhere!” We could not stop them. “Keep firing, use the grenades!” I shouted. Not even the staitionary machine guns were enough, as there seemed to be thousands of targets
It seemed like the other barricades and squads were not holding well either. We heard on the radio “They have broken through the southern barricade. Fall back! Fall back to the second line!!!” Meanwhile, on our front, the zombies were about to break the barricade. The zombies stumbled over cars and doors, and knocked down the metal barricades “Retreat! Fall back!...Fall back to the police station blockade!” People screamed. Zombies moaned. Guns roared. The retreat was chaotic. I ran down an alley to encounter an officer about to be grabbed by a zombie. “Get down!”, I shouted. The officer fell down, and I shot the zombie clean in the head with my Five-Seven Tactical.
The officer got up and quickly thanked me. “Names Leon Kennedy. First day on the job.” I laughed “Ahh, the new guy. I wish I had time to talk, but we better head to the 2nd blockade line…NOW!” I reloaded and armed my K&M Submachine. As we ran we heard more on the radio. The western front had been surrounded and overwhelmed by zombies. Few made it out. The northern front had been completely annihilated as we heard. This, in turn, was surprising, for the squad was mostly SWAT and police. We finally arrived at the blockade. It wasn’t much of a blockade anymore. The zombies began to overwhelm the remaining police. They broke through and we fought valiantly, but in the end it didn’t even matter.
“Vazquez, get over here! Take these zombies out!” Yelled a Sergeant. We killed many, but more and more just kept coming. “Use everything you have!” I shouted. We were overwhelmed and running out of time. At that moment, the STARS helicopter flew overhead slowly. Suddenly the manned guns on it begin to fire. They killed a few lines of zombies, which bought us the time to retreat to the station and barricade the garden entrance. The helicopters then went out of view. We had to thank the STARS, for they saved us all.
Once inside the police station, the other survivors and I began to think of a plan. We agreed on splitting up into 2 squads. The first squad, lead by Thomas Califra, was to find a way into the underground umbrella research plant. There they could find more information about this outbreak and then escape via train. My team’s objective was to escape the city via the clock tower train, but we had to fight through hoards of zombies and get through other unknown obstacles.
First we had to get to the back entrance of the police station. Califra’s team sent out scouts to secure the way. We waited patiently for their report. Finally, it came. “The police station is no longer secure! Enemy on the 2nd floor corridor! We can’t stop this thing! Send help, we ca……” “Let’s move out!” I shouted. We ran up to the second floor corridor as fast as we could. I kicked open the door and my squad ran inside. No sign of the enemy. Bodies were slumped against the wall. One was even thrown into the wall, and remained stuck there. “We lost all scout party members, Califra. And it wasn’t zombies that killed them. Be careful!” I shouted on the radio.
“Rodger, you too” replied Tom. I signaled for my squad to hold position while I checked the roof. When I walked outside I saw a surviving police officer battling 3 zombies to the end. There was also a rescue helicopter trying to save him. Before I could react the zombies grabbed him, and his gun fired upward at the pilot, killing him. “NO!” I shouted “EVERYONE GET DOWN NOW!” The helicopter crashed right into the police station, luckily not in the corridor my squad was in. “There’s a helicopter down on the roof, Califra, be careful”. My squad then met on the roof and we regrouped and planned.
My squad composed of myself, Louis Felix, Kevin O’, Nicholas O’Neil, Matt Serrano, Michael Newbie, Ashleigh Godino, Erica Carlucci, Robert Rodriguez, and Richard Norman. We would split up later if need be, but for now we would stay united. “We need to get past the hordes of zombies in the streets to get to the train station. Load your weapons and prepare now, because before you know it their won’t be any time, even to just take a breather”
“Alright let’s go! Down these stairs!” I shouted We walked down the seemingly empty police station alley. We then came to a power shack. “Looks like this hasn’t been used in a while.” Everyone wait outside. Richard, come with me. “Open that door. Be ready for contact!” He cautiously opened the door, hands shaking. It seemed clear, and he was relieved. “Alright everyone else come….” My words were cut off by the sound of Richard screaming. 6 zombies had appeared out of nowhere and were attacking Richard. He fired his Clarion, but it wasn’t enough…they were too close. The zombies grabbed him, knocked him down, and began to eat him alive.
I now had a clear path to the exit. I ran for it. I closed the door behind me, but not before throwing 2 grenades inside and telling my squad to get down. The grenades exploded with a large bang, and we opened the door to see dead zombies and Richard’s body…or what was left of it.
“Damn, this was all my fault” I told myself. I sighed. Come on squad, let’s move out. At that moment, someone shouted out of my radio. “Joseph, are you there?” “Yes, I am. Who is this?” I could not tell who it was but it was clearly the voice of a young woman. “That’s not important right now. Listen watch out for that thing that killed the scout party. Its after you…Umbrella wants you dead.” “Why me? What did I do?” “Nothing. But now you’re an official stars member. It was to be announced today. But, as you know, the police chief went missing and the zombies seemed to have spoiled your promotion party.” “It changed nothing now, I responded.” “That’s true, but Umbrella wants you dead. Watch out for that tyrant. Claire out” “Wait! Who are you? What is the tyrant? Claire?”
She had turned off her radio. We then moved out into the police station parking lot. We would use the cars there, but the roads were destroyed and there was no way we could get far with them. After checking the garage for any usable gear, we walked outside into the streets. It was a nightmare…Zombies roamed around. Cars were turned over and fires were blazing. “Fire! Fire away!” I shouted. We opened fire. The zombies fell quickly with our combined strength. There wasn’t an endless tide this time either.
“They are weak at their neck and head. Aim there!” I was greatly impressed by the work of our sharpshooter, Ashleigh Godino. She shot the zombies’ heads’ clean off with her Magnum sniper rifle. Other officers also had good shots. The Submachine guns we were using pumped out 30 bullets in 6 seconds and were very effective in this situation
The tide finally ended. “Lets go! Only shoot what you have to!” We ran as fast as we could towards the station. Zombies followed and we only shot to delay them. We ran inside the station and closed the door. I took attendance. “Wait, where is O’Neil?” I asked. “I don’t know, replied Louis. The last time I saw him was back by the zombie fight.” I ran outside to see O’Neil limping towards the station. A zombie dog was pursuing him. “ASHLEIGH!” I shouted. The zombie dog jumped on O’Neil and was about to rip his throat open when the sniper bullet came. It hit right on target. We then ran outside and dragged O’Neil inside the station and locked the door.
“Kevin, you used to be a medic. Can you do anything about this?” “His wounds are mostly bruises and large cuts…I can’t do much now”. O’Neil regained consciousness. “Joe…We’re all gonna die…He’s after STARS members, there’s no escape!” O’Neil then coughed and stopped breathing…
“Damn! That’s another one we lost!” I signaled for my squad to move out of the train station and onto the train platform. I then opened the door to the train and stepped in. Immediately I heard a “Freeze!” and I saw 3 guns pointed at me. “Who are you? What are you doing here!?” “Joe Vazquez, STARS” I replied. “Its good to see another survivor”, replied one of them. “My name’s Carlos, and this and Nicoli and our leader, Mikhail. We’re the remaining UBCS mercenaries sent in to combat the zombies. We have been trying to get this train running. But we need more parts from around this city area.
“Perhaps we can work together to escape this nightmare. we can split up into 3 teams. 1 team secures and guards the train area. The other goes to the gas station and repair shop to secure most of the parts, and the other secures the downtown restaurant area and searches for survivors and weapons/supplies.”
“The train team will compose of Mikhail, myself, and Kevin. The Gas station team will comprise of Carlos, Ashleigh, Erica, and Matt. The rescue/supply team will consist of Robert, Louis, Nicoli, and Newbie. Since Mikhail is hurt he and I will remain inside the train and Kevin will set up the machine gun around the train. Alright teams, move out!”
“Before you go, take this M4A1 and these rounds.” Carlos said to me. “Thanks, I could use the extra firepower” I replied. The teams then left and we waited patiently for either a radio call or an attacking zombie. Mikhail began to talk “What a mess this is. My brother already went in that mansion before STARS. I feel bad for him; he’s probably already one of those zombies by now. Damn umbrella. They own this town. They made ME, the mayor’s defense secretary, lead this strike. Bah, I should never have trusted them. This is all their doing anyway.”
We heard a scream outside. I ran to Kevin O’s aid. “Kevin! Get down”. A hunter had just barely missed Kevin’s arm. I opened fire with my M4. Hunter guts sprayed all over the wall “You alright, Kevin?” “Yeah I’m fine.” I then shouted on my radio. “Report in, teams!” “This is newbie. We found two survivors and some supplies. We are searching for more at the moment. Nicoli is bringing the survivors to the train. “Rodger, tell me if something happens” I replied. “This is Ashleigh. We almost have the all of the train parts” “Uh-Oh, looks like 5 zombies walking up the street.” said Carlos. “You got this?” Matt asked? “Yeah I’m fine.” replied Carlos “Time to play hero for da ladies! AAAAAHHH!”
We waited a minute…“All zombies down. Train part team is heading back to the train!” Carlos shouted. “This is Newbie; we seem to have found more supplies and another survivor. She says she knows the way to the train. She has weapons!” At that time I radioed in to the other team. “Leon, we are getting ready to depart on the train. It should lead us out of the town if nothing goes wrong. How are you doing?” “We lost a few team members, including Califra. But we’re doing alright. We’re about to take the transit down to the lab.” “Alright Leon, you’re officially in command. Keep in touch. Vazquez out.”
“Newbie, have your team head back to the train.” “Rodger, we’re encountering minor resistance.” he replied. We waited a few minutes and Carlos’ team arrived, along with Nicoli and 2 of the survivors, Henry G. and Taper Smith. We repaired the train and prepared for departure. “Taper, can you man that machine gun outside? We’re going to need Kevin to drive the train.” “Sure, I’ll try”, he replied.
Newbie then radioed in. “We’re at the gates. We should be at the train soon…Everything is quiet…Doesn’t seem like there’s any…Wait…What is that thing!? Fire! FIRE!” “Newbie?!” I replied. Other shouts of survivors were on the radio. “AHHH! Kill it! What is this thing?! FALL BACK! FALL BACK!! AAAAHHHHH!!!! GET AWAY FROM IT! THERES NO STOPPING HIM!” Screams, gunshots, and explosions could be heard on the radio. “Fall back! Get away!” The last transmission that wasn’t cut off by static was Newbie’s … “My God…..” “We have lost contact with the rescue team!”, I shouted. “We should go… NOW!”, said Nicoli. “We can’t just leave them here!” shouted Carlos.
A woman then entered the train. “My name is Sandy Struthers, part of the police of Raccoon City. The “Survivor” your teammate referred to me as” If you all want to survive, we’d best be heading out of here in a couple minutes.” We all agreed on that. “Kevin, start up the engine”. About a minute later Newbie limped onto the train. “He’s coming! GO!” “What, who’s coming?!” I asked. At that moment we heard heavy machine gun fired followed by Taper’s screams outside. “The thing broke into the back of the train!” yelled Kevin. We armed our weapons and stood ready. We heard Matt’s gunshots from the back carriage but they soon faded.
The thing walked in. “STARS!” it shouted. On it, in big bold white letters, was NEMISIS. The thing was about 8 feet tall and looked like a disfigured monster covered by a big leather jacket. It had tentacles coming out of its arm and a stitched up face. Newbie screamed. It picked him up and threw him against the window, but not before drilling a hole in his shoulder “Start the train Kevin!” We shot at it and retreated to the next carriage when we saw it had no effect, but Mikhail did not. He valiantly took out his explosives, and when nemesis grabbed him. He grinned “Make sure you all get out alive!” “Mikhail, NOOOO!!!” I yelled. He then detonated the explosives and blew most of the train car apart. Kevin shouted “The trains unstable! We’re gonna crash! Brace yourselves!” He hit the emergency break and the train went off the tracks and flipped over. Some carriages exploded September 28th, 4 AM.
The train stopped at the 2nd Umbrella chemical plant. This one was above ground and by a swamp. I must have hit my head, for when I awoke I saw my comrades salvaging what they could from the train. Matt, being in the back of the train at the time of the crash, was badly wounded. Erica and Nicoli were missing. Newbie was dead.. We sat at the area of the camp and discussed the plan.
“It’s impossible to use the streets now. The only choice we have is to go through the Umbrella research plant. There should be a helicopter we can use to escape. All we need to do is get past this place. Don’t think it’s over yet, because this is just the beginning of the real nightmare. We don’t know what sick experiments Umbrella worked on in this place. Lets stick together until we need to split up.
“Hey, is that a SWAT truck over there”, Kevin asked the others. “Yeah it looks like one. There must have been another police blockade here.” replied Henry G. We collected weapons, ammo, and grenades from the truck. We also found a missile launcher. “Oh yeah, now that’s more like it!” yelled Carlos. We prepared to move out. I then approached the badly wounded Mathew. Kevin shook his head. Mathew used his final breath. “You have to go on without me…Get out of here….Get that scum! ....Make him pay!” He then stopped breathing…
There are only 6 of us left now: Myself, Kevin O’, Ashleigh Godino, Henry G, Sandy Struthers, and Carlos. “We’re going to go in to try to find Nicoli and Erica. Agreed?” Everyone responded with a nod. “Let’s lock and load!”
We entered the compound and found… nothing. We entered the first door on the right. It was safe. The radio was on and we could hear a frightening message… “Breaking news! Military sends Hydrogen bomb at Raccoon City! Launch scheduled today at 7 AM! Please evacuate the area immediately!”. “Holy crap!” Carlos shouted! “We’ve got to get out of here!”
“Calm down!” I replied. “We’ve got time. Let’s just take this easily.” We walked down the hallway. The rooms were all locked. The door at the end of the hall led to a sewer like hallway. It seemed safe, but the water was murky and we did not know what was under it.
We cautiously proceeded on. We neared the door to the other when Kevin shouted “Wait! Did you hear something?” “No”, I replied. “Are you sure?” He asked again. “Yes I’m sure.” “Well alright then. Lets move on” a few seconds later zombies rose around us! There were 10 of them and they surrounded us. “Open fire!” I shouted. One grabbed Struthers and bit her but I shot it off with my Five-Seven. Most of the zombies were knocked down but not killed. I quickly gave to order to retreat into the next hallway. “We have to conserve our ammo. Only shoot what you have to”, I said to the others.
We moved on without delay. We needed to get to the elevator. The hall seemed empty, but Struthers stopped for an unknown reason. “What is it, Struthers?” “Do you hear some…” A licker burst out of a duct in the ceiling and landed on Struthers’ back before she could finish. “AHHH! GET IT OFF!!!” The licker seemed to dig into and rip it apart with its claws. Kevin took his assault shotgun and blew it off her back, ending her suffering. I sighed “Damn lickers…They got another one…” We moved on.
When we got to the elevator we encountered 3 more survivors. 2 were UBCS members and one was an umbrella research member. On his name card read “DR. Ponko Chang”.
One looked up at us. “And who are you supposed to be?” “Joe Vasquez, STARS.” I replied. “Ahh, another stars member, eh?” He laughed. “We’re supposed to hold this elevator. Our team’s supposed to be searching and securing the 3rd floor for this G-Virus thing. I don’t know. The Commander don’t tell us anything now. My buddy here is…well…we just call him HUNK. He doesn’t have a name, and he doesn’t talk much. But, let me tell ya! He’s one helluva soldier!”
“My names Andrew Morison, nice to meet ya, bud. This guy over here is Ponko Chang, we found him. An odd one, it seems. He hasn’t told us anything about himself. Anyway, if you want to get outa here, its not gonna be easy. All of the exits are sealed, our helicopters gone down, and we’ll need an ID card to get to the helipads. The first floor should be mostly clear around the elevator, so feel free to check it out.”
“But what about the hydrogen bomb?! Haven’t they told you about it yet? It’s going to drop in less than 3 hours!” I yelled. “The hydrogen bomb? Woah we gotta get outa here! Screw the commanda he must want to leave us here to die!” he screamed! “Calm down. If we split up and find a way to get to the helipad and find a way to get past all of these creatures we can make it out.” I suggested
“You’re right”, he replied. “We should split up.” I addressed the others. “Listen up, everyone! We split up into 3 teams. Henry G, you’re with Andrew and Ashleigh. You three will take ground floor. Carlos, you’re with Kevin O’. You two will hold the two basement levels and try to find a way through. Hunk, you go renegade, that’s what you’re best at, right? And well, I guess that leaves me with Dr. Chang. We’ll take the 2nd floor.”
“Just so you know the frequency for commander Rosins and his squad is 95.91. Be sure to listen in.”, said Hunk. “Rodger”, we all replied. “Can you use a weapon, Ponko?” I asked. “Pretty sure”, he responded. I handed him my spare Five-Seven. “Alright let’s move out!” I shouted. We boarded the elevator and pressed the elevator buttons of our assigned floors…And possibly our graves…
The elevator pulled up to F1. Ashleigh, Henry G, and Andrew stepped out of the elevator as the doors opened. “Good luck”, I said to them. They simply nodded at me, clearly fearful and lacking hope. We then pulled up to F2, my assigned floor. I nodded to Kevin and Carlos as the elevator door closed and the elevator moved down to B2.
I made sure to radio into Leon first. “Leon, where are you? The military is going to drop a hydrogen bomb at 7 AM! We’re still in the facility; hopefully we’ll be out by then” “The underground umbrella facility self destructed. We’re on the train out of the city headed for the next town now. Want to meet there? Claire Redfield, Chris Redfield’s sister, is with me” “Sure, meet me there at the airport helicopter landing area. Vazquez out!”
I armed my M4. “Let’s go, I whispered.” We walked down the long empty hall and opened the first door on the left. Inside we encountered a lone zombie feeding on a dead SWAT member’s corpse. I tossed a fragmentation grenade inside and took cover outside in the hall. The grenade exploded, blowing the zombie to bits. We moved down the hallway cautiously. “Let’s try not to open any more side doors if we don’t have to, Joe.” Ponko commented. “I agree. First we need to find a keycard….”
This part of the plant seemed more like a hospital wing than a research facility. Not even the empty faculty room contained anything useful. I radioed in to my team “Report in! What’s everyone’s status?” “This is Carlos. No sign of anything useful or any major keycards. We found a sewage disposal area. They must dump their waste here.” “This is Henry G; level 1 is an open factory like area. A door leading to the exit is here but we need a level 3 keycard to get through. All we found was a level 1…”
“No sign of any enemies though…We’re going to… Wait the elevators coming....I wonder who’s…WHERE DID THEY COME FROM!? NEVER!!! AHHH!!!” “What’s going on, respond!” I yelled! “Take this, DIE!” Ashleigh screamed. There were long pauses and explosions. We could hear gunshots and explosions on the radio. Most of their words were cut off by static now. “ANSWER!” I shouted. I received no response and the last things we heard was Henry G screaming and firing his M4 “YOU WANT SOME MORE?!!!” We could actually hear the horrible sound of the zombies eating him alive.
“Dammit!” I shouted. “Come on Dr, we have to go, now!” We ran down the hallway, but we were halted by gunshots and what appeared to be Erica’s screams. The sliding door ahead of us was open, and we rushed to her aid thinking that a zombie was attacking her! We rushed around the corner to see Erica’s body and Nicoli standing with his gun still out. “Nicoli! You traitor!” I shouted. He quickly noticed us and pointed the gun at me. He laughed “Well Dr. Chang, I’m glad you made it to the party. Looks like you’ve met our “leader”.
“What do you mean Nicoli?! You know this guy?” I shouted. “I demand some answers!” “I wouldn’t be so demanding, Mr. Vazquez. You’re not in a very good position to make demands.” Nicoli laughed again. “Damn you Nicoli!” At that moment he fired his gun and hit me in the side of my right arm. I fell down. “Well doctor, what about our deal?” Nicoli said to Ponko. “Ahh, yes…I have the virus and the antidote contained right here…” replied Chang. “Good, now all I need to do is take this back to Europe and…”
At that moment, rumblings and explosions could be heard from above. The heavy gas tanks on the ceiling rumbled and finally fell on Nicoli along with parts of the ceiling, killing him. I quickly took out my pistol and aimed it at Chang. “ALRIGHT, I want some answers, now!” I shouted! “I’ll never say a word…never”, said Ponko. “And you have no choice but to let me live because you’re team is desperate to get out of here.” “Alright, you’ve got one more chance, but do anything like that again and you’re dead!”
Right after I finished my sentence we got a radio message on the umbrella radio channel. “Damn! What is this thing commander?!” “Just shoot it! Don’t worry!” “AAAAHHH!!! We can’t stop it!” “Keep firing! Keep firing!” The rest was lost to static… “We better hurry to F3!” I shouted. We ran around the corner to encounter 2 more SWAT members, alive…But they were battling a hunter. They missed every time with their K&Ms, and when they had to reload the hunter went in and killed one of them. The other one then missed again every time trying desperately to hit it. “SON OF A...!” he screamed as the hunter closed in for the killing blow.
We knew we couldn’t risk killing it, so we ran. We were almost at the elevator when the hunter jumped at us, desperate for our blood. I took out and spinned my Nighthawk pistol and then shot a clear shot that hit the elevator call button right on target! I then pulled the pin of a grenade and dropped it right before we entered the elevator and closed the door. We heard a loud BANG and we knew the hunter was dead. I pressed the button to get to F3. “Get ready!” I said to Ponko”
Before we walked out of the elevator I got a radio call from Kevin. “Carlos is hurt. He can’t walk. I’ll need to drag him.” said Kevin. “Alright wait by the elevator for further orders.” I responded.
The elevator arrived. Ponco and I readied our guns. We walked down the hallway. At first we saw nothing, but as we got farther down we witnessed the destruction the “NEMISIS” was capable of.
Bodies lined the hallway. Bullet and explosion marks covered the walls and floors. Blood was everywhere. Among the bodies I was able to salvage some fragmentation grenades, some ammo for my M4A1, and duel Golden Eagle pistol. “Poor guys”, I though to myself. “What a horrible way to die”.
As we neared the Treatment disposal room, we found out that we needed a system disk to enter. Luckily, I found the disk in the hands of a nearby UBCS member, probably the commander. I inserted it into the access panel and the huge door opened. We walked inside.
“Damn, nothing inside but a lift we can’t use and some acid pipes.” I said to Ponko. He laughed. “Right…But it doesn’t matter anymore anyway”, He responded...He pointed his gun at me. “WHAT?!” I shouted! “I should never have trusted you! I should never have given you a second chance!”. “Too late now”, he replied” “Before I end your pitiful life, I might as well tell you the truth…I was the leader of the NEMISIS project. I am the one that programmed it to kill you and the other STARS members. I even had Nicoli put a special tracking device on you so NEMISIS could find you easier. It’s all over for you now. Oh yes, I can hear him coming for us right now!” He laughed insanely.
We heard NEMISIS’ usual call of “STARS!”, and he appeared out of nowhere. This time he was different. The jacket was half gone from the train explosion and his hand had many dangerous whip-like tentacles on it.
He immediately ripped part of Dr. Chang’s right arm right off. “WHAT?! MY HAND!!!” Chang shouted! Then he grabbed him. “HAHAHAH! MY….CREATION!!!” Ponko screamed. NEMISIS then drilled a spike right thru his mouth, killing him. He thru him down and turned to me. He then tried to hit me with his tentacles. I barely was able to dodge.
At that moment the exit doors sealed and locked. “WARNING! All personal still in the treatment disposal room evacuate! Waste disposal in 6 minutes!” “CRAP!” I shouted! I fired my M4A1 at NEMISIS but it seemed to do little. My clip ran out and NEMISIS went in for another strike. I dodge again and reloaded. I continued firing until I ran out and then barely was able to dodge NEMISIS’ attack. I was no running low on ammunition, it was my last clip. I fired until I ran out and then then through the M4 at NEMISIS. I shouted on the radio “NEMISIS IS IN THE TREATMENT ROOM! I NEED HELP!” I immediately got a response from Kevin. “I’m sending up Carlos’ weapon on the lift! Grab it and use it!”
I desperately took out my duel eagles in an attempt to delay NEMISIS’ onslaught. He missed his next attack as I jumped away just in time. During the jump I fired my duel eagles in what seemed to be a 20 second slow motion jump. Somehow, the bullets hit NEMISIS right in the head as I crashed to the floor. This delayed him and hurt him enough for me to go over and grabbed the lightweight rocket launcher that just arrived on the lift.
I picked it up and armed it. NEMISIS was getting pretty pissed now and was ready to make short work of me. He was near the wall and an acid pipe when he regained his focus. I fired the rocket. The slow moving rocket seemed easy to doge for NEMISIS, and it crashed into the wall behind him. But…That wasn’t a bad thing.
Deadly acid sprayed all over NEMISIS, taking off his arm and blinding him. He roared and made one desperate charge at me. I quickly reacted and spin-jumped out of the way. NEMISIS, being blind now, slammed into the wall and an acid valve and slumped down. “You’re not dodging this one!” I yelled, and I fired the rocket.
The rocket exploded on NEMISIS, destroying all of the nearby acid pipes. Deadly acid covered NEMISIS. He screamed in agony. I knew he was near death now, so I grabbed my duel eagles and slowly walked towards NEMISIS, firing them rapidly until the clips emptied. When I was within 3 feet I dropped them and took out my Revolver Magnum. It always had just 1 bullet in it. Either to finish off a great adversary, or to finish off myself…
I pointed it at NEMISIS, who was clearly dieing. “Your number is up, NEMISIS!” I fired it and killed him once and for all. I dropped my gun. “You were a worthy opponent…” I then walked over to Dr. Chang’s corpse. I picked up a level 3 keycard and a 2 way radio of some sort. “So, he had the key the entire time”, I said to myself. I used the key to get out of the room and left the disposal room to deal with NEMISIS’ remains. “Squads, meet me at the level 1 security 3 door, I have the card. NEMISIS is dead”. I shouted on the radio. “Rodger”, they all reported “This is Andrew…I’m alive…barely…On my way to the door.” “What about Ashleigh and Henry G? Did they make it?” I asked. “No…The zombies got them before I could take them all down.” he replied. “Alright...Don’t worry about it…Just prepare for our final run…Our last escape…”
As I ran I picked up a K&M and some clips from one of the dead UBCS members, and then boarded the elevator and headed for F1. There I saw dozens of dead zombies. I ran through the factory like area to meet whoever was left…Hunk, Kevin, Andrew, and the injured Carlos.
I inserted the key card and told everyone to get ready. The area was outdoors, but closed off by wreckage and large lockup fences. We encountered large masses of zombies and some other creatures. “GO GO GO!” Hunk shouted! We ran in, guns blazing. Even Carlos was able to run through with us We killed what was in our way and threw grenades as we fought thru the mob of enemies. “I need a clip!” I shouted! “Here, take mine, it’s my last one! Shouted Kevin!” He tossed me a clip of NATO rounds and I loaded my K&M. One of Hunk’s grenades hit a gasoline barrel, which exploded and destroyed nearly everything in the open outdoor area.
Luckily the squad was behind a large fallen column at the time of the blast. So we ran ahead, guns still blazing. We we’re nearly out now, and I picked up a stray weapon I found on a nearby corpse to continue. Most of us were using our pistols now. “Hurry, down those stairs! Get down there now!” Hunk was cornered into the large warehouse building by zombies. “Hunk! Get over here!” I shouted. But it was too late. The doors locked up due to the incoming nuclear strike. Before they closed Hunk shouted “Don’t worry! I’ll find another way out! GO NOW!” I followed my squad down to the stairs
We ran to the heliport, shooting 2 final zombies. Large walls and wreckage surrounded the building and the heliport. It looked like a junkyard. However, it seemed like someone had beat us to the chopper. Someone was in it and lifting off…
It was Nicoli. The chopper immediately began firing at us. “Get down!”, I shouted. We all jumped for cover in time. “Nicoli!” I shouted “You’re alive?! Why are you doing this?! Why not help us? Why can’t we all get out!?” “I have no intention of helping anyone. As a supervisor it is my job to escape safely with this new data and to not let any non-UBCS supervisors come! Enjoy the big bang!!!” Nicoli laughed. He then flew away out of sight.
“Damn! Now how are we going to get out of here?!” Carlos shouted. I took a look at my wounded squad. They were all bloody with Zombie bites and looked incredibly tired and hopeless. I then looked at the radio I took from Ponko. I thought I should give it a try… “Is anyone out there?! I repeat, this is STARS member Joe Vasquez! Can anyone pick us up at the Umbrella research factory in Raccoon city?! We need an evac now! The bomb will be here in 20 minutes!” I shouted! "Rodger that, I tracked your position through your transmission, hold on!” shouted an unknown individual.
We waited, and hoped that they got here in time. Finally, after about 13 minutes, the chopper landed. “Thank God”, said Andrew. We boarded and immediately recognized the remaining STARS members. The pilot then lifted off the ground and headed for the next town. There wasn’t much talking. Everyone was exhausted and hurt.
We heard the bomb drop. The impact even shock our helicopter. “Woah! I shouted!” “Everyone alright?” They all nodded. “Well, let’s go meet Leon, Claire, and the rest of the survivors at the airport.” I said to the others. “We can discuss plans and share knowledge and data there”
2 Hours Later
We jumped out of the helicopter and walked inside the terminal. Everyone stared at us. It wasn’t a common site to see 9 bloody people walk in carrying guns and grenades. The Security guy with the metal detector just stood there in shock. We then met up with Leon and the other survivors. I walked over and nodded to them…”Quite a thrill now wasn’t that?” I said with a slight smile.
