His original mission was to venture to Outworld and fight Shao Khan, But his arrival was to late, Khan had already been defeated. So instead he has aligned himself with the Dragon King who he believes will bring stabilityto the Realms.
  • About Hotaru

The name Hotaru (ƒzƒ^ƒ‹?) is Japanese for firefly, which his outfit reflects, having the appearance of an insect's exoskeleton. His special attacks evoke a firefly's glow and power of flight. Hotaru is a hero from the realm of Seido or Orderrealm, and devotes himself to preserving law and order at any cost, so much so that he could be described as a zealot.

    Storyline

At one point, Hotaru had ventured into Outworld to confront Shao Kahn's Tarkatan armies, who were laying siege to the city of Lei Chen. Years later, however, those same forces, would be under the command of Onaga (the Dragon King). Believing that this newly resurrected ruler would bring order to the universe, he aids Onaga's hordes in their attacks and pursues those who would stand against them, such as Sub-Zero. At the time of Deception, Hotaru has set out to bring the Lin Kuei Grandmaster to justice before Onaga.

He is, however, unaware that a bounty has been placed on his own head. In the past, Hotaru had served as a guardsman for Dairou while he was incarcerated; the latter now is under contract to murder him.

    Age:?

    Bio:
First Appearance: Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance (2002)
    Origin: Earthrealm
    Alignment: Evil
    Allies: Mavado
Foes: Kano, Jarek, Kabal, Kira, Kobra, Sonya, Jax, Kenshi, Cyrax
Fighting Style: Shuai Chiao or Wrestling
    Weapon: Sun-Moon

    MORTAL KOMBAT DEADLY ALLIANCE .

  • A member of the Black Dragon, Hsu Hao's duty was to infilitrate the Special Forces and covertly guide them to the members of the Black Dragon. Once the Black Dragon was seemingly destroyed, Hsu Hao was ordered to remain among the Special Forces ranks as an informant until further notice. That notice came when his superior Mavado, ordered him to destroy the Outerworld Investigation Agency's ability to travel to the Outworld. Hsu Hao would not dishonor his Red Dragon clan; he would complete his task at any cost.

    About Hsu Hao

Hsu Hao is a cruelly deceptive Chinese grappler, who posed as a member of China's intelligence services to infiltrate the Special Forces. His sole purpose, however, was to destroy them after he had aided them in destroying Black Dragon crime clan, long-time rivals of Hsu Hao's Red Dragon. Hsu Hao has no heart; instead, he has a pulsating cybernetic implant that also enhances his strength. He follows orders from his superior Mavado with unquestioning obedience.

    Storyline

For the events on Earthrealm leading up to Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Hsu Hao was of primordial importance. He destroyed the Outer World Investigation Agency's only means of inter-realm travel with a miniature nuclear weapon, after the Black Dragon was seemingly eradicated, with Kano lost forever, Jarek killed in Edenia, and Kabal killed by Mavado. His former superior at the Special Forces, Jax, had a score to settle with him. Cornered by Jax in Outworld, he was defeated and seemingly killed when his artificial heart was ripped out by the OIA soldier. He is slated to return in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, whether alive or undead remains to be seen.

  • Jade

    Age: 10,000

    Bio:
First Appearance: Mortal Kombat II (1993)
    Origin: Edenia
    Alignment: Good
    Allies: Kitana, Sindel
    Foes: Tanya, Mileena
Fighting Style: Fan Zi or Kuo Shou
    Weapon: Bojutsu

    Ulitmit Mortal Kombat 3.

    Mortal KOmbat Trilogy.

    MORTAL KOMBAT DECEPTION.

  • Originating in Edenia she witnessed the arrival of the Dragon King. In a desperate attempt to warn Queen Sindel and tell her of her daughters fate she returned to Edenia, but was to Late Tanya had captured the Queen and gave access to the Dragon King to Edenia. Freeing Sindel the two escaped into Outworld.
  • About Jade

Jade is a childhood friend of Princess Kitana. While her motives were unclear, she, alongside Kitana and Mileena, served Shao Kahn as his personal assassin. When Kitana finally turned against Shao Kahn, Jade was ordered to capture her for the Emperor. But she ultimately chose to join her friend and has since loyally assisted Kitana in her quest to free their native realm and restore its beauty. Now residing in the freed Edenia, Jade is a General of the Edenian Army and continues to dutifully serve Kitana and her mother Queen Sindel.

As a female assassin adorned in a green skin-tight outfit, Jade was initially very similar in appearance to Kitana and Mileena, with the only noticeable difference being her tanned skin. She appeared first as a hidden, unplayable character in Mortal Kombat II, and would later become a regular character in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Her main weapon of choice is a metal staff, but she also uses razor-edged boomerangs (dubbed "razorangs") as well.

    Storyline

It is assumed Jade was the back-up plan of Shao Kahn during the second tournament, in case his own warriors would fail to withstand the fury and anger of the Earthrealm warriors. In fact, although she was not present in the first Mortal Kombat tournament, she was hiding in the shadows of the tournament, watching the events unfold. From there, she would have to return to Outworld and report to Shao Kahn.

Like Kitana, Jade's origins lie not in Outworld, but in the realm of Edenia. While it is not certain whether or not her parents made any significant contributions to Edenia, it is known that they were loyal and faithful subjects who loved King Jerrod and Queen Sindel. There isn't much information on Jade's background and early life, aside from the fact that she has been Kitana's friend since childhood. Kitana was only a newborn when Shao Kahn had slain her father and conquered Edenia, and was raised as his own daughter, growing up with no knowledge of the realm or her real parents. It is unknown what the exact circumstances of Jade's upbringing were and what, if anything, she knew about Edenia. Regardless, Jade and Kitana grow up to be one of Shao Kahn's personal assassins and become best friends.

At the time of Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Kitana had been sentenced to death after being tried for treason in the high courts of Outworld for murdering Mileena during the events of Mortal Kombat II. She escaped the evil realm, and fled to Earthrealm. Shao Kahn became enraged, and appointed Jade and Reptile to venture into Earthrealm and capture her. Jade was assured that Kahn wanted her back alive, but Reptile was secretly told to bring Kitana back by any means necessary, up to and including killing her.

The two then ventured into Earth to find Kitana. However, Jade found herself torn between loyally carrying out Kahn's orders and betraying her friend, or joining her against the Emperor. She ultimately decided to help Kitana, and thwarted Reptile's assassination attempt. With his defeat, the path was cleared for the two women to join Raiden and his Earthrealm combatants in the battle against Shao Kahn and his forces. Of immediate importance, however was Kitana's personal mission to reach and warn the resurrected Queen Sindel about their true past together. Jade's assistance had made that possible, and Kitana was successful. With Sindel's memories recovered, she too would turn against Shao Kahn, who was shortly afterward defeated by Liu Kang. After Kahn's defeat, Kitana would go on to free Edenia from Outworld.

Jade was not present during the events of Mortal Kombat Gold. It can be assumed that she was captured and imprisoned alongside Kitana and Sindel by Quan Chi and Shinnok. In any case, it was at this time that Tanya betrayed Edenia to Shinnok, and earned Jade's wrath.

Years later, at the time of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Kitana and her armed forces, along with the forces of Goro and his Shokans, embarked on a war against the weakened Shao Kahn and his remaining Outworld army. She'd later join her Earthrealm allies against the Deadly Alliance of Quan Chi and Shang Tsung. It is unknown what exactly Jade was doing during this time. She was either still in Edenia, assisting Sindel, or fighting alongside Kitana's armies in the background (similar to how Baraka was apparently serving the Deadly Alliance, but never actually mentioned during the game).

In Mortal Kombat: Deception, it was revealed that Jade had attempted to join Kitana and her allies in the battle against the Deadly Alliance, but had arrived too late, finding her friend's body lying on the ground with the other Earthrealm warriors. Heartbroken, Jade knelt beside her fallen friend's side, and noticed a large creature approaching. She then hid in the nearby shadows, and witnessed this evil menace, Onaga the Dragon King, resurrect the bodies of Kitana and her fallen friends. While they were resurrected, they were also placed under an evil spell and were told to meet up with the force controlling them at the Living Forest.

Jade followed in secret, only to discover that they were going to invade Edenia and hold Queen Sindel prisoner. Jade returned to Edenia to find Queen Sindel behind bars and guarded by her own daughter. Sindel could have fought for her freedom, but she couldn't strike her own daughter. Jade attacked Kitana and managed to trap her in a cage of her own while she freed Sindel. Kitana then began shouting for the guards to capture them, forcing Jade and Sindel to flee to the portal into Outworld. Before they went through the portal, Jade caught a glimpse of her enemy, Tanya, standing next to Onaga.

Currently in Outworld with Sindel, Jade has made it her personal mission to assist her Queen in rescuing Kitana from the Dragon King's spell, and to seek justice (or perhaps vengeance) against Tanya, who has betrayed Edenia yet again.

  • Jarek

    Age:?

    Bio:
First Appearance: Mortal Kombat 4 (1998)
    Origin: Earthrealm
    Alignment: Evil
    Allies: Kano, Kabal
    Foes: Sonya, Jax, Shinnok
    Fighting Style: Kuo Shou
    Weapon: Kick Axe

    MORTAL KOMBAT 4.

  • Believed to be the last member of Kano's klan, the Black Dragon. Jarek is hunted down by Special Forces agent Sonya Blade for crimes against humanity. With the emergence of a much greater evil, Sonya focuses her strengths on the new menacing Quan Chi. Jarek now finds himself fighting alongside Sonya and Earth's warriors to help defeat the Evil Elder God, Shinnok.
  • About Jarek

Jarek was the unlucky, rather dimwitted and brutish "last member of the Black Dragon." First debuting in Mortal Kombat 4, he utilized special moves and fatalities popularized by Kano, as well as a Black Dragon Sword, a weapon with sharp, pointy edges that stuck out from the sword's blade. His overall lack of originality has caused him to be labelled as somewhat of an uninspired character by the MK fanbase.

    Storyline

He made his first chronological appearance in Mortal Kombat: Special Forces, where he and other Black Dragon members were freed from a United States Special Forces detention facility by Kano, who had proposed to reform the Black Dragon clan (In reality, Kano merely wished to use them to slow down any Special Forces agents who may have pursued him in his quest to obtain an artifact called the Eye of Shitian). Jarek was Kano's best student and in Mortal Kombat: Special Forces, Jarek was stationed at a downtown office which the clan were using as a front for their activities when he was confronted and defeated by Major Jackson Briggs and brought back into custody.

Some considerable time later, he escaped to Edenia, only to find himself caught between two fires there: Shinnok and the Special Forces. Reluctantly, he agreed to help his sworn enemies defeat Shinnok. Jarek's short temper, forgetfulness (he seems to not realize that Shinnok is dead), and that the Black Dragon were completely destroyed) and irredeemable bad character would seem to eventually cause his own (literal) downfall. Shortly after the defeat and destruction of Shinnok's forces, he fell from a cliff in an attempt to kill Lieutenant Sonya Blade. Whether he truly died or not will be revealed in time, as he is slated to make a return in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon with a redesign for his appearance.

During Shujinko's quest in Mortal Kombat: Deception, Jarek was in the Netherealm apparently looking for Oni Teeth.

    MORTAL KOMBAT DEADLY ALLIANCE

  • Jax spent most of his time in the heavily fortified underground facilities of the Outerworld Investigation Agency. From an enormous underground chamber, Jax would send his agents to the other realms by way of man-made inter-realm portals. Two of his agents, the cyborg ninja Cyrax and the rouge swordsman Kenshi, had been assigned to the realm of Outworld - a domain of strange creatures and maniacal sorcerers. Jax would soon be reminded of just how dangerous a threat to Earth that realm could be.

    About Jax

Jax was the first African American character in the Mortal Kombat series and made his debut in the second game. He is portrayed as an archetypical American hero. In the chain of command of the Special Forces, he is Sonya Blade's direct superior, and clearly the catalyzing force of Sonya's impulsiveness. Jax is clear-headed, careful and always keeping a watch on what his men are doing, but when the need arises, he is a beast on the battlefield with the attitude and ferocity of a lion. He unscrupulously makes use of the most advanced technology to improve both himself and his unit.

    Storyline

Jax made his first chronological appearance in Mortal Kombat: Special Forces. The game opened depicting a prison break at Special Forces' detention facility. Jax, driving along a highway, received a transmission from his fellow Special Forces operative Gemini detailing the escape and the escapees: No-Face, Tasia, Jarek and Tremor. She informed him that they had escaped to a warehouse on the town's south side, likely receiving assistance from an outside source. Jax surmised that source to be Kano. He received another transmission from one Lieutenant Sanchez, whose squad had arrived at the warehouse. After the transmission was cut off at the source, Jax arrived at the scene to find the squad destroyed. For this, he swore he would achieve vengeance against Kano. Using prototype bionic implants on his arms in order to enhance his strength, Jax set out to find his enemy.

Infiltrating the warehouse, Jax confronted No-Face and dispatched him. Proceeding into the sewers, he did likewise to Tasia. At this point, Gemini contacted Jax again and informed him that the Black Dragon were using a corporate building as a front for their base of operations. At the building, Jax confronted and defeated Jarek, and his investigation led him to the town of the lost city of Sin Kiang, where he defeated Tremor and discovered a portal to Outworld. Surmising that the portal was linked to Kano's plans of global domination, he entered. The portal led to Outworld, and Jax caught up with Kano, who had acquired an artifact called the Eye of Shitian through which he could acquire great power. After an exchange of words, the two fought, and Jax emerged the victor. He used the Eye's power to bring them both back to Earthrealm and brought Kano into custody, only to have the criminal escape at a later date. At this point, Jax ceased using his bionic implants.

Jax appeared on the stage of the Mortal Kombat tournaments proper when Sonya was abducted by Shang Tsung after the end of the first tournament, as a means to appease Shao Kahn after his failure to win. He travelled into Outworld once more, and became acquainted with the other Earthrealm warriors there. Soon he came to learn of the Emperor's dark plans for Earthrealm, and as soon as he had freed Sonya (and inadvertently Kano), he headed back home to warn his government of the impending danger. He would find himself frustrated, however, as not only did Kano escape back into Outworld, but the government did not believe the major.

Jax began to prepare for war covertly, and once more outfitted his arms with bionic implants. After helping foil Shao Kahn's attempt to permanently claim Earth as his own, Jax became the commanding officer of the Outer World Investigation Agency (OIA). They operated from an underground bunker, and had scouts in various realms, not only exploring and mapping them, but also looking for inter-realm portals that could lead to Earth: these needed to be destroyed. He briefly assisted Raiden in the defeat of Shinnok in Edenia, and it was during these events that both he and Sonya would find the Lin Kuei cyborg Cyrax, malfunctioning and trapped in a desert. Returning with him to their home base, they reversed the automation process, restored his humanity, and gained a new ally.

Years later, trouble would occur again, as not only were his agents Kenshi and Cyrax lost in Outworld, but the OIA underground facility was nuked into oblivion by the traitor Hsu Hao. When, soon after, Raiden summoned the Earthrealm warriors to the abandoned island of Shang Tsung and asked them to travel with him to Outworld to bring down the Deadly Alliance, Jax didn't hesitate. He used this trip as a cover to track down Hsu Hao and, once he caught up with the criminal, killed him by tearing out his artificial heart.

Afterward, he was among the group of warriors who made a final stand against the Deadly Alliance of Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, but was unfortunately defeated in the ensuing combat along with the rest of his allies. He, like his friends, was eventually found by Onaga and revived as a mindless drone, used to intimidate the survivors of his group before killing them outright. As of now, his fate remains uncertain, but he will appear in the upcoming Mortal Kombat: Armageddon

    MORTAL KOMBAT

  • A martial arts superstar trained by great masters from around the world, Cage uses his talents on the big screen. He is currently box office champ, starring in such movies as Dragon Fist and Dragon Fist II, as well as the award-winning Sudden Violence. He entered the tournament purely for the publicity it would generate him around the world. Despite his seeming shallowness, he is a formidable foe with limber limbs, quick reflexes, and his patented Shadow Kick.

    MORTAL KOMBAT 2.

  • After Shang Tsung's tournament, the martial arts superstar disappears. He follows Liu Kang into the Outworld. There he will compete in a twisted tournament which holds the balance of earth's existence--as well as a script for another blockbuster movie. .

With the heavens in disarray, he learns of the war waged against the Elder Gods by Shinnok. Cage seeks out Raiden to help him restore his deceased soul and join Liu Kang in his quest. Once again, Johnny Cage finds himself fighting alongside Earths greatest warriors.

    MORTAL KOMBAT DEADLY ALLIANCE

  • Johnny Cage had been fed up with the lame writing on his current movie "Mortal Kombat: The Death of Johnny Cage," in which his character repeatedly died and was resurrected. To him, his real-life adventures were much more sensational-he kicked butt! But his studio felt that the hero needed to take a fall for dramatic purposes, Johnny Cage reluctantly agreed to continue with the project until the Thunder God Raiden called him away to a new adventure in Outworld.
  • Storyline

A martial arts superstar trained by great masters from around the world. Johnny was derided by film critics and the movie-going public for using special effects and wires for his fights. Unknown to them, his Shadow Kick and Force Ball were not effects; he actually performed those supernatural feats. To prove it to the world, he entered the Mortal Kombat tournament. Although he did not win, he did not die, as so many of the other unnamed participants. He made the movie Mortal Kombat based on his experiences, which revived his then-failing career.

Johnny followed Liu Kang into Outworld and joined the Earthrealm warriors for Mortal Kombat in Outworld, and used this new adventure as a script for a sequel, Mortal Kombat II, which broke box office records. When Shao Kahn invaded the Earthrealm, Cage and the Earthrealm warriors defeated Shao Kahn. After the events of Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Shinnok began his invasion into Edenia and had taken over the realm. Cage along with his friends fought against Shinnok and his dark army. After Shinnok's defeat, Cage went back to making movies, even winning an award for his latest film, but when he opened his big mouth, all he comically received were boos and a whole bunch of vegetables and bottles thrown at him.

Years later, Johnny Cage went on to film Mortal Kombat: The Death of Johnny Cage, in which he was repeatedly killed and brought back to life. Upset at the way he was being portrayed, believing his own adventures were far more entertaining, he wanted out of the movie but he couldn't due to his contract.

But as luck would have it, he was approached by Raiden, who asked him to help fight the Deadly Alliance. At first, Johnny thought it was the actor who played Raiden, but when he saw the actor eating lunch, he realized it was the real Raiden, who told him to go to Shang Tsung's island for further instructions. He found a loophole in his contract and left the movie. He would then use this new adventure to make his own movie. Arriving on the island by way of parachute, he learned of Liu Kang's tragic death and went to Outworld to help his friends; however, he was killed during the final assault on the Deadly Alliance. Soon afterward, he was resurrected by Onaga and made into his slave. What happens to Johnny Cage after will not be known until the upcoming Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, where he is slated to make a reappearance.

    MORTAL KOMBAT Deception

  • Originating in Earthrealm, his look is accredited to injuries sustained at the hands of Shao Khan and his armies. Years later he was to suffer further when he was ambushed by Malvado of the Red Dragon. Once again being brought back from the brink of death by a mysterious figure, Kabal has a new mission, to rebuild the Black Dragon. His first quest is to travel to Outworld to shape a new destiny for himself.
  • About Kabal

Kabal was first introduced in Mortal Kombat 3, sporting long, black hair, hookswords, and a respirator. He was a mysterious chosen warrior who survived an attack from one of Shao Kahn's extermination squads. Unknown to his allies, however, he was actually a member of the Black Dragon. At the time of his introduction, he appeared as a force for good, but has since reverted to his evil ways, planning to set himself as the head of the new Black Dragon clan. Owing a great deal to his appearance, storyline, and extremely powerful MK3 combos, he has been a fan favorite ever since his introduction.

    Storyline

Kabal was a member of the Black Dragon, until Shao Kahn's invasion took Earthrealm by storm, and Kabal's soul was spared: he was a chosen warrior, destined to fight against Shao Kahn. Surviving an attack from Kahn's extermination squads horribly mutilated, he was kept alive by artificial respirators and an unbroken will to fight. The events of Shao Kahn's invasion had profoundly changed Kabal; he left behind his life of crime with the Black Dragon and vowed to become a force for good; at least for a time.

Between the events of Mortal Kombat Trilogy and Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Kabal was wounded severely in battle by Mavado, a leading member of the Red Dragon hoping to wipe out the Black Dragon. Mavado then took Kabal's trademark hookswords as a trophy.

Havik visited Kabal at the brink of death and restored him, and then instructed him to bring back the Black Dragon as a force of anarchy and decay. In spite of his previous experiences fighting alongside his Earthrealm comrades against Shao Kahn's hordes and his vow to help put an end to crime and injustice, he followed Havik's instructions seemingly without hesitation (although his character bio still interestingly lists his alignment as "good"). It is believed he trained with Havik for some years, before going back to Earthrealm and killing Mavado, taking back his hookswords. He then also recruited Kira and Kobra. The three of them joined Havik on Outworld for the events of Mortal Kombat: Deception.

While his reason for recruiting Kira and Kobra as the newest members of the Black Dragon was basically to fill the void left behind by his apparently deceased comrades, Kabal had ulterior motives. Seeing as how the complacency of the former members led to the demise of his clan, Kabal wanted to ensure that his newest recruits were truly worthy of the Black Dragon, first by testing their prowess in battle against the enemies of the Dragon King, and then pitting the two recruits against each other in Mortal Kombat, the victor of which would be inducted into the Black Dragon as a full-fledged member.

    MORTAL KOMBAT DEADLY ALLIANCE

  • Kano had been defeated in a battle with Special Forces agent Sonya Blade during Shao Kahn's invasion of Earthrealm. Shao Kahn incarcerated Kano for this failure, but later hastily promoted him to General when he prevented the Emperor's assassination at the hands of the Shokan warrior known as Sheeva. With the merging of Earthrealm and Outworld not yet complete, Shao Kahn ordered Kano to portal back to the last remnants of Outworld to gather more troops for the final push against the Earthrealm opposition
  • About Kano

Kano made his debut in the very first Mortal Kombat game. In it Kano is one of the incarnations of evil. A portion of Kano's face is covered with a metal plate, with the plated eye being a glowing red orb capable of emitting laserlike beams. Originally a mercenary and leader of the international crime cartel known as the Black Dragon, he rises beyond the level of mere brutality and aggression by also being sly and cunning. It was through his resourcefulness that he convinced Shao Kahn to spare his life, and it was through ruthless ambition that he later ascended to position of general of Outworld's armies. Kano combines the features of a cowardly minion, a lone survivor, a crazed madman, and an intelligent commander. His actions have earned him the enmity of Lt. Sonya Blade.

    Storyline

Kano is a leading member of the Black Dragon organization, a criminal empire of cut-throat madmen. Making his first chronological appearance in Mortal Kombat: Special Forces, he freed fellow Black Dragon cohorts No-Face, Tasia, Jarek and Tremor from a U.S. Special Forces security facility, under the pretense that they would reform the Black Dragon organization. In reality, he intended to use them as pawns to slow down any Special Forces agents who might pursue him. Annihilating an entire squad at the site of the prison break, he and his cohorts escaped.

With his Black Dragon associates given their assigned tasks, Kano headed to Outworld where he recovered the Eye of Shitian, an artifact through which he would acquire incredible power. Unfortunately for him, however, Major Jackson Briggs had defeated his accomplices and caught up to him. The two fought, and Kano was defeated. Jax used the eye to transport them back to Earthrealm, and proceeded to bring Kano into custody, though Kano escaped soon after.

He entered Shang Tsung's Mortal Kombat tournament after hearing rumors that Tsung's palace was filled with gold and other riches: Kano intended to steal them for the Black Dragon. At that time, the Black Dragon was the primary target of the U.S. Special Forces and would remain so for a number of years. He was pursued by Lt. Sonya Blade, who held a personal grudge against Kano because he had killed a former partner of Sonya's. While Kano was free to take part in the tournament of his own accord, Sonya and her unit were captured by Shang Tsung's minions. Tsung offered Sonya an ultimatum: compete in Mortal Kombat, or she and her unit would be executed. If she won, they would all be free to go. Although Sonya and Kano survived the tournament, Shang Tsung took them both to Outworld as hostages. Eventually, both were rescued by Jax, but before Kano could be arrested, he escaped back to Outworld.

Although most Earthrealm warriors assumed Kano to be dead, he instead managed to save his own life by convincing Shao Kahn to accept him as a weapons instructor for his armies. As a man with a knowledge of Earthrealm weaponry, he was the most suitable candidate. Later, during the events of Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Sonya tossed Kano to his (surmised) death from the roof of a high building. He was found by Motaro, who healed and imprisoned him. In turn, Motaro was attacked and killed by Sheeva, who freed Kano from his prison. Although they originally hatched a plan to murder Shao Kahn, Kano turned on Sheeva in the decisive moments, with Sheeva's death as a result. Kano was then hastily promoted to general of Outworld's rapidly shrinking army.

Eventually Kahn's forces were defeated. Earthrealm was free, and so was Edenia.

Shao Kahn's act of promoting Kano, however, proved to be a lucky shot, as Kano was a very competent general. Even in the face of overwhelming odds and the tactical mastership of Princess Kitana and her Edenian-Shokan army, Kano stood ground and eventually managed to repel the invading army. He returned to Shao Kahn's palace just in time to watch from the shadows as Shang Tsung and Quan Chi sprung their attack on the weakened emperor. As soon as the battle was finished, Kano declared his allegiance to the new rulers of Outworld, the Deadly Alliance. The two had Kano oversee the enslavement of a small village, who would construct a temple over Onaga's tomb to house the Soulnado. During its construction, Kano was personally assaulted by Li Mei, but Quan Chi intervened.

His intervention was due in no part for any particular affinity for the criminal, however. The Alliance had made a deal with the Red Dragon member Mavado; he would eliminate the swordsman Kenshi in exchange for the opportunity to fight and defeat Kano. Mavado attacked and left Kenshi for dead, earning his battle.

    MORTAL KOMBAT DEADLY ALLIANCE

  • Sensing the cries of his captured ancestors, Kenshi made a vow to slay Shang Tsung in order to free them from his grasp. When he learned of Shang Tsung's escape to Outworld, Kenshi agreed to help the Special Forces search for the missing agent Cyrax as a means of gaining access to that realm, which allowed him to act both as rescue party and spy. Shortly after discovering the sorcerer's wherabouts, the Agency was destroyed and with it his only means for a return to Earth. Kenshi now finds himself facing the Deadly Alliance on his own.

    Mortal Kombat DECEPTION

  • Originating in Earthrealm he was blinded by Shang Tsungs Trickery. Almost killed in Outworld he was saved by Sub-Zero. Attempting to make it back to the Earthrealm via the the portal that Sub-Zero used to travel to Outworld. But they are being followed by someone in the shadows.
  • About Kenshi

Kenshi is a rogue swordsman of mixed Eurasian (European and Asian) heritage. He is a blind, gruff man who has mastered the arts of tai chi, san shou and Judo. Kenshi is also psychokinetic, able to throw opponents off-balance or across the room when necessary. He nurses a bitter hatred for the sorcerer Shang Tsung, whose trickery had blinded him.

    Storyline

As a born fighter, Kenshi wandered Earthrealm in search of worthy competition. He would find an opponent and defeat them just to boost his pride. One day Kenshi encountered a man named Song, who convinced Kenshi that a great warrior needed a great sword; Song then led Kenshi to the location of an ancient, powerful sword Song claimed would befit Kenshi's power. As Kenshi unsealed the well wherein the sword supposedly lay, he was overwhelmed by souls trapped within and permanently blinded. Song revealed himself to be Shang Tsung and proceeded to absorb the released souls and left Kenshi to die within the tomb. However, the sword, which actually did exist, attracted Kenshi and spoke to him, leading him from the tomb and revealing its origin. The sword originally belonged to a long line of great swordsmen from whom Kenshi descended; the well where the sword lay was also the sacred resting place of the souls of Kenshi's ancestors, souls that were stolen by Shang Tsung. Kenshi spent the next decade or so retraining his senses, all while searching for his betrayer and the defiler of his ancestry. This path led him to the U.S. Special Forces.

Kenshi's special abilities eventually caught the attention of Jax and Sonya whom were looking for members with special talents to join their side and venture into Outworld; Kenshi jumped at the chance to pursue the man who had deceived him. After going through many tests and examinations, he was accepted to join the Outer World Investigation Agency.

His chance at enacting his revenge came when he was assigned to find the lost Cyrax, another agent of the Special Forces, in Outworld. In his travels across Outworld, he encountered the enigmatic Ermac, and, in a moment of pity, broke the mind control that Shao Kahn had over him. In gratitude, Ermac awakened Kenshi's latent telekinetic power, and taught him not only how to use it effectively in combat, but how to 'sense' the presence of people and objects around him. Kenshi soon discovered the Deadly Alliance and their plans, but was unable to contact the OWIA (which had been bombed by Hsu Hao). Unbeknownst to Kenshi, the Deadly Alliance knew of his presence and sent Mavado to eliminate him. Mavado confronted Kenshi, defeated the swordsman and left him for dead.

Sub-Zero found the dying Kenshi and nursed him back to health. Because of Sub-Zero's sympathy and kindness, Kenshi forged a temporary alliance with Sub-Zero to find a portal that would take them back home, though this temporary alliance soon became a long-lasting friendship. After Shang Tsung's apparent death upon Onaga's return, Kenshi sensed the souls of his ancestors return to his sword, indicating the end of quest for vengeance.

    Origin: Zaterra
    Alignment: Good
    Allies: Reptile
    Foes: ?
    Fighting Style: ?
    Weapon: ?

    About Khameleon

Reptile was once thought to be the last member of an extinct race of reptilian creatures, until the appearance of Khameleon. She alone knows the truth about their history and chooses to fight on the side of Earth. Making the last survivors of their race lethal enemies.

She has only appeared in Mortal Kombat Trilogy for the Nintendo 64. The PC, PlayStation, and Sega Saturn versions instead had Chameleon, a similar but male character. Khameleon is a palette swapped female ninja in Mortal Kombat Trilogy. She wears gray, but otherwise is physically identical to Kitana, Mileena, and Jade. She flickers in and out of full and partial invisibility whenever she appears, making her quite hard to see, even for the player controlling her. She has no moves or fatalities of her own; rather, her name in her life bar changes colors fairly rapidly. The color determines whether her moves are Jade's (green), Mileena's (purple), or Kitana's (blue). Since the lifebar is red and blue, this makes her name quite hard to see most of the time. She technically has access to all of the three ninjas' moves and fatalities, though the timing is quite difficult. She even copies combos, thus making it appear that she can pull their weapons out of thin air.

    Storyline

Unlike Chameleon, Khameleon has a storyline. For many, this makes up for her weak gameplay performance. Though the outcome given in her game ending has been disproven by later games, much of the backstory has held to be true in games like Mortal Kombat: Deception, which applied some of it to Reptile.

Khameleon's bio describes her as the last female of her race, as Reptile is the last male. It reveals that her race, the Saurians, or Raptors, were originally from Earth, but a great war drove some of them out of that realm and killed the rest (Raiden seems to mention this in the introduction to Mortal Kombat Gold, though not by name).

They found a new home in another realm, which they called Zaterra, for "New Earth." However, Shao Kahn eventually found it, and drove the Raptors to extinction and merged Zaterra with Outworld. He kept only one alive – Reptile. Khameleon was hidden away at the time.

In the second part of her ending, it is stated that she spent an indefinite amount of time trying to find Reptile in an attempt to restore their race; however, he remained unaware of her, focusing on serving Shao Kahn. Khameleon finally catches up to Reptile, and tells him the truth of how Kahn was responsible for the extinction of their race. She then assists him as he turns against and kills Shao Kahn. The two of them then return to Zaterra to repopulate their race. Since Reptile only continues his descent into madness and despair in Mortal Kombat 4/Gold, this second part, at least, can be assumed to have never occurred, or at least not yet.

It is unknown at the current time if Khameleon will return in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, but possible, since Meat has been confirmed to appear in the game (and many consider him a more minor character than Khameleon as he had no story), and Armageddon plans to include every past Mortal Kombat character that has ever thrown a punch. Amongst the lesser known MK characters, there is a considerable fan demand for her return (recent footage of the game in production shows a fan-created female character bearing reptilian characteristics, for example).

Currently, reports from subscribers of Official Xbox Magazine have stated that an article about Armageddon confirms Khameleon in writing as a playable character, though she is the only remaining character who has not yet been visually confirmed by Midway in any promotional pictures or screenshots.

    About Kintaro

Kintaro is a gigantic humanoid with four arms. He was introduced as a replacement for the great Shokan prince Goro, and was everything Goro was (including being of the Shokan race), but only meaner, bigger and harder to defeat. Being the supreme commander of Outworld's armed forces, he is only second to Shao Kahn himself. He has more clearly defined feline aspects than Goro, with tiger stripes on his back (more recently, claws and cat-like digitigrade feet in his Armageddon makeover as well), and has the ability to spit fireballs from great distances.

    Storyline

In Mortal Kombat II, after hearing of Goro's defeat at the hands of Liu Kang, Kintaro vowed to avenge his comrade and crush Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat.

What became of him is unknown for certain, but he will be returning in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon

    Mortal Kombat DECEPTION

  • Originating in Earthrealm, she is the first recruit of the new Black Dragon. Testing her skills, Kabal has sent her to Outworld to battle the foes of the Dragon king.
  • About Kira

Kira made her debut in Mortal Kombat: Deception in 2004 as the first of Kabal's recruits for the new Black Dragon. Her character is courageous one; her background depicts her as having the ability to take great risks. As well, she is possessed of a rationality and level-headedness that contrasts her fellow hot-blooded recruit, Kobra. In-game, she utilized special moves and fighting styles imported directly from Kano and Sonya's appearances in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance; as a result, she was labeled as being a somewhat unoriginal character by the MK fanbase.

    Storyline

In the mountains of Afghanistan, Kira had disguised herself as a man, and sold weapons to terrorist organizations. During one such transaction in a cave, her gender was revealed, and she had no choice but to fight her way out. Emerging victorious, she encountered Kabal, who had been waiting outside to behold the victor. He had decided to reconstitute the Black Dragon, and observing how Kira conducted herself in executing her misdeeds in a cold and calculated fashion, he was reminded of the Red Dragon, the organization from which the Black Dragon split. Since the Black Dragon did not have this presence, Kabal offered to make Kira his first recruit. Accepting, Kira devoted herself to her new organization.

  • About Kitana

Princess Kitana is over 10,000 years old, although she appears only to be in her mid twenties to early thirties. Through the years, she has risen to great importance ... first as the loyal stepdaughter of Shao Kahn; then his enemy, tearing herself away from his grasp and freeing her home realm of Edenia; and then leading an army into Outworld to combat any chance of Shao Kahn rising to power again. Kitana is a strong combination of discipline, intelligence, love and perseverance. She shared a subtle love interest with Earthrealm champion Liu Kang, until he was murdered by the Deadly Alliance. She has aligned herself on the good side, despite her loyalty to Shao Kahn for most of her life until learning the truth about her past and real family.

    Storyline

Kitana's first appearance, in the second Mortal Kombat tournament, was mysterious. It was hard to guess her true feelings or alignment, which were revealed to the Earthrealm warriors during the tournament. She was not the daughter of Shao Kahn, but in fact his stepdaughter, adopted by Kahn after he seized the realm of Edenia. To strengthen Kahn's claims to the Edenian throne, he killed its king, Jerrod, and married Jerrod's wife Sindel, who was Kitana's mother. Suspecting she would someday learn the truth, however, Kahn instructed Shang Tsung to create a twin for Kitana, Mileena, who was actually a grotesque and evil clone.

Kitana grew up dutifully loyal to Shao Kahn, whom she believed was her real father. She grew up to be one of Shao Kahn's personal assassins, alongside her "sister" Mileena, and her good friend Jade. At some point in Kitana's life, she finally discovered the truth about her real father, Mileena's origins, and how Shao Kahn conquered her realm through constant visions in her dreams.

Appalled, disgusted, and devastated that her whole life had been a lie, Kitana vowed to do all in her power to overthrow Shao Kahn and restore Edenia to its former beauty. And also perhaps by doing so, redeem herself for all the evil she committed while she served Shao Kahn. At first Kitana continued to feign loyalty to Kahn, planning and waiting for the right time to turn against him openly.

Kitana's chance finally came during Mortal Kombat II, when Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung lured Earth's heroes into Outworld. Kitana entered the tournament, but secretly began to contact one of Earth's heroes (most likely Liu Kang) trying to help them defeat Kahn. However, Kitana's efforts were discovered by her clone Mileena. Mileena attacked her traitorous "sister", forcing Kitana to defend herself. She defeated and killed Mileena, but this act revealed that she was no longer loyal to Shao Kahn.

The Earthrealm warriors escaped from Outworld, but Kitana was imprisoned and sentenced to death for killing Mileena. However, after Sindel's resurrection and Shao Kahn's subsequent invasion of Earthrealm, she managed to escape and rejoin her friends from Earth. Her only purpose was to convert the resurrected Sindel and remove the evil taint in her soul. Kitana also had to contend with her friend Jade, who was sent by Kahn to capture her. But Kitana managed to convince Jade to turn against Kahn and join the forces of good. Jade then helped Kitana defeat Reptile, another assassin sent by Kahn to capture Kitana. Eventually, Kitana pushed through to her mother and freed her from Kahn's grasp. Shao Kahn's reign over Earthrealm was short-lived, as he and his elite forces were ultimately defeated. In the wake of these events, Kitana and her mother freed Edenia as well. Before leaving Earthrealm, Kitana thanked Liu Kang for all he had done.

Earthrealm had barely recovered from its violent merger with Outworld, however, as a new threat presented itself in the form of Shinnok. He and his grand vizier Quan Chi invaded Edenia from the forbidden Netherealm and imprisoned its legitimate rulers. Kitana, not a novice at escaping from prisons, broke loose once more, only to encounter a resurrected Mileena, now in the service of Shinnok. However, soon the forces of darkness were defeated by Raiden and his comrades, and Edenia was free once more. It is after these events that Kitana finally proposed to Liu Kang and offered to rule Edenia together as King and Queen. Liu Kang reluctantly rejected her, saying his place was as Champion of Earth.

After Shinnok's defeat, Kitana learned that Shao Kahn had survived his defeat on Earthrealm and was trying to regain his strength in Outworld. Realizing the vulnerable position of her realm, however, Kitana hastily formed an alliance with the Shokan, a powerful and ancient race that had fallen in disgrace with the weakened emperor. The combined armies, led by Prince Goro and Kitana herself, marched against Outworld's armies a few years later, with much success at first. However, in the decisive moments, Goro was mortally wounded by the mysterious Noob Saibot, ending the battle with a draw.

Shortly thereafter, Kitana learned that Shao Kahn had been slain by unknown assassins. Thinking her fight was finally over, Kitana began to journey back to Edenia, hoping she could finally live in peace. However, she then encountered her old ally Kung Lao and he told her of a new threat: the "Deadly Alliance" of Quan Chi and Shang Tsung. Kung Lao told Kitana of the Deadly Alliance's plans to revive the Undead Army of the legendary Dragon King and how they had already managed to kill Shao Kahn and Liu Kang.

Despite Kitana's grief upon learning of Liu Kang's death at the hands of the Deadly Alliance, she joined with her old Earthrealm allies against the new threat. Unfortunately, the Deadly Alliance was victorious, defeating the heroes. However shortly after, Kitana and her allies were resurrected by Onaga, the legendary Dragon King himself. Onaga then put a powerful spell on them, turning them into his loyal servants. Now loyal to the Dragon King, Kitana assisted in Onaga's invasion of her own realm of Edenia.

Onaga used Kitana to imprison her mother Sindel, knowing the queen would not fight her daughter. However, Sindel was freed by Jade, and together they fled to Outworld where they attempted to find a way to defeat Onaga and free Kitana from his evil influence. Unknown to Kitana, Liu Kang's spirit returned from beyond death and had found himself a new ally and friend Ermac, and the two as well embarked on a mission to save their allies.

    MORTAL KOMBAT DECEPTION

  • Originating in Earthrealm, he has spent his whole life training. Wanting to test his skills in real Kombat he killed his first opponent with easy. But the thrill of the kill seduced him and now victory is his obsession. Because of this Brutal nature he was recruited by Kabal into the new Black Dragon.
  • About Kobra

Kobra could be described as Mortal Kombat's stock street brawler character. Infamous for his brutality and savage nature, Kobra shows no mercy to his opponents. Introduced in Mortal Kombat: Deception as the second of Kabal's recruits for the new Black Dragon, he is a gifted young martial artist, eager to put his skills to the test.

    Storyline

For years, Kobra wondered whether his martial arts training would work in a real fight. Even though he has been practicing his skills at his NYC karate school, no one was allowed to really hurt each other. So, he went to New York's back alleys in order for him to put his skills to the test.

At first, he started on street gangs. Then, he went to gangbangers and drug dealers. The thrill and excitement of fighting started to consume him, and he started killing his opponents. He continued his killing streak and added looting to his list when he robbed convenience stores and gas stations. Eventually, the NYPD caught him. At this point, Kobra had no clue as to how many lives he had destroyed.

When Kobra was being taken downtown, he heard gunfire and officers shouting. Kabal and Kira had found out about him and came to induct him into the new Black Dragon syndicate.

After killing the officers and escaping, Kabal took Kira and Kobra to Outworld, where they worked for Havik, the cleric of Chaos who had brought Kabal back from the brink of death.

    Possible future

Kobra's ending depicts him fighting alongside Kira and Kabal in a victorious surprise attack against the Earthrealm warriors, who had defeated Onaga, and Kobra realized he would enjoy being a Black Dragon member.

However, Kira's ending seems to be a contradiction of this; Kabal forced his two recruits to fight to the death to determine who would actually become a Black Dragon. After a strong fight, Kobra lost and was killed. Whether this is canon or not will be determined in the upcoming Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, where all three Black Dragon are scheduled to reappear.
