STAMPS

  • Belgium, 1979

On October 1st 1979, Belgium released a stamp as a way of getting young people into philately (stamp collecting). It depicted Tintin and Snowy with some stamps.

  • The Netherlands, 1999

In September 1999, the Netherlands issued a set of stamps on 'Destination Moon'. It contained 2 stamps. Two differant mini sheets were released, one showing both stamps and the other with 5 of 1 stamp.

  • Belgium, 1999

On 15th October 1999, a set celebrating Belgian comics was released featuring the moon rocket from the Tintin adventures as well as a motif with a Tintin quiff.

  • France, 2000

On 11th March 2000, France released a single stamp saying 'fete du timbre'. Several  mini sheets of it have been released.

  • Belgium/Democratic Republic of Congo, 2001

On 31st December 2001, Belgium and The Democratic Republic of Congo released a joint issue, celebrating the book ''Tintin in the Congo''s 70th birthday, and the end of the Belgian franc.

  • France, 2002

Throughout July and August, the French post office released Tintin 'pret-a-poster' (envelopes with stamps pre-printed on them).

  • France, 2004

Another set of 'pret-a-poster' were released, one called 'Moulinsart', the other called 'Igloo Tintin'.

  • Belgium, 2004

In February 2004, Belgium released a set of 'Explorers on the Moon' stamps. It was done to mark several things: Tintin's 75th anniversary, ''Explorer's on the Moon'' 50th anniversary, and the 35th anniversary of the moon landings.

France have also 2 permanent 'pret a poster' called ''Prêt-à-souhaiter 7 à 77 ans" and "Joyeux anniversaire''.

This very rare set was released to coincide with the 75th anniversary.

10th Anniversary of Herge's death ~ 1995

Released by 'Monnaie de Paris'  in a limited edition of 5000. The set was made of silver.

'They Explored the Moon' 50th anniversary

This limited edition of 10,000 set was to commemorate the 50th anniversary of 'They Explored the Moon'.

75 Years of Tintin ~ 2004

Issued to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Tintin. This came in silver and bronze colours. Limited edition of 50,000.

A set issued in Belgium by Nesquik cereals.

A French set based on the game 'Happy Families'. It contained 32 cards.

Released in 1987 by Methuen to people who bought Tintin books. It had a limited run.
